Ok I know thumbelina isn't a Disney movie but juaqimo the sparrow is a great mentor. Best wing man and friend a girl, could ask for by encouraging her to not care what people think - she's beautiful, intelligenct, strong & kind. Bo one can take that away and would be a fool to throw a girl like her away. "You love the beetle? Then never mind the beetle! Good riddance to the bettle! And good riddance to the toad! Dose cornealious think you're ugly?"

Ok love the list though I'd like to add something to Grandmother Willow - she's taught John Smith a thing about doing the right things not always the easy. It's through her teaching that both sides confront the problems and do what they can to set things right.

9 &7: I don't really see these guys as mentors; They never teach the heroes or any body anything or offer guidance. Cinderella knew the lesson herself and the fairies were heroes, not mentors. I would have placed Shang and Mama Ode in their spots. I agree with Jiminy Cricket being #1 though.

The three fairies of my favorite! I was mad at the Maleficient movie not because of what they did with the villain but of what they did to the three fairies! They went from being smart, brave, caring and entertaining to being stupid, fearful, not caring that much and annoying! Great job, Disney!

    • disneymagic93
      disneymagic93 7 months ago +3

Joanie Dallaire You’re absolutely right. It’s mind boggling that people think Maleficent is feminist. I think Sleeping Beauty is feminist because of the 3 good fairies. Of course the fairies get ignored by the feminists & I think it’s because they’re old ladies.

    • Joanie Dallaire
Joanie Dallaire 7 months ago +5

@disneymagic93 Exactly! I also hated that they had to make the King the villain and the prince useless to make the female characters shine. Feminism is about equality between women AND men. Cinderella (2015) did a better job (respectful to the source material and improving the characters just enough, in particular for prince charming who finally got a personnality)!

    • disneymagic93
      disneymagic93 7 months ago +5

Joanie Dallaire I totally agree! I hate it when people say Maleficent is more feminist than Sleeping Beauty. Turning 3 strong female fairies into idiotic morons is not feminism.
