I've lost my hair due to estrogen dominance. Fabric softer is actually a terrible hormone disruptor. For anyone who's not healthy, has acne, pcos, painful periods etc, avoiding those chemicals is really important.
A piece of flannel or old rag with essential oils on it will have the same freshening affect, without the exposure to toxins.

Thanks for the tips. I tried BB Blaster Silicone Spray before and it did make the wig less tangled but the wig stunk like a Mechanic Shop. Plus after using it u had to let the wig sit on a wig stand for a day or 2. So if i wanted to wear that wig right away i didn't use the Silcone Spray. I used it 5 times then gave it to my man for his car. I can't walk around smelling like that. lol😝

    • Shuawn L
      Shuawn L Year ago

Exactly plus the BB Blaster Silicone Spray was really oily and it takes 2 days to dry out so that it's not as oily but who wants to deal with that!!!!

It’s not a good idea to use Monistat gel on a daily or frequent basis. It is an antifungal gel used to treat yeast/ fungal infections. Just Like frequent , unnecessary usage of antibiotics, it is possible to buildup an immunity to the product so that when you really need it, the product won’t work to treat your yeast/ fungal infections& & you will require a more expensive treatment, that requires a doctors prescription. If you indeed have a yeast infection use it , but don’t use it for cosmetic purposes. There is a product called “skin prep”; you could purchase it in a medical supply store. It comes in a box, like alcohol prep swabs. This product is designed to protect the skin. At first it leaves a cool tacky layer on the skin which smooths out. You would apply it, let it get tacky & set down the lace. You can even use a lace glue on top of it. It’s pretty inexpensive & it will protect the skin against friction & rough lace.

    • GirlRatesWorld

Thanks for the info Christina! I was referring to the chaffing gel. I don't think it has any medicinal properties. But thanks for the tip on the skin prep product!

One thing about wig caps or stocking caps is that if you wash them & stick them in the dryer to dry it restores its tightness. This will save you from having to buy them all the time.

When you have terribly hard water washing your expensive as hell human units,it will destroy them every time..I live in Miami so I need to wash my hair frequently from the sweat and beach air smell..Well today the "light went on above my head" and 2 brilliant ideas came to me...First,instead of bleaching the unit knots with the regular,I thought...maybe using a spray root touch up inside the unit cap will do the trick..If it temporarily colors roots;well then it should work.Even a liquid root touched upper may work..I'm going to try it.Secondly.Im not washing my unit in the shower anymore..I will use a basin with bottles of Evian water or some other kind of spring or distilled water..That may work.Ive heard of woman using Pelligrino water on their natural hair..So I'm going to give it a shot..if anybody can think of any constructive objections as to why they t hink neither would work, please let me know. .Thanks for the b a by shampoo advice.I will let you know my results!

I keep a spray bottle with a fabric softener mixture close by. When I remove my wigs, I lightly spray inside cap to help with odors. I also lightly spray underneath at the back (where it rubs against my neck) to help cut down on tangling

To condition a wig like the one you are wearing in the video I put fabric softener and water (1 part fabric softener to 2 parts water) in a spray bottle, and spray the wig it really helps keep it soft and if its rough it will soften it quite a bit and is a great detangler!!!

My wig jack: wigs are made of synthetic fiber like clothing and what not right. So, what better way to bring synthetic wigs back to life after, a nice shampoo wash???? Use liquid downy fabric softener. Just use maybe a half a cap is cold water. Soak the detangled wig for maybe 20 min without manipulation. Rinse with cold water, then let the wig air dry completely.
