Rusty Old Coffee Grinder - Perfect Restoration

  • Published on Apr 4, 2019
  • In this video i'm restoring an old coffee grinder.
A few weeks ago I bought an old bench grinder to restore on eBay. The guy who sold it was actually selling more antiques, he had a room filled with old items. I took a look at his other stuff and this unique coffee grinder caught my attention right away. So I ended up buying it for $35. The one thing that really impressed me on this coffee grinder was the metal body, usually they're made of wood. I also liked the colour very much. The restoration itself turned out to be a lot more challenging than I first expected. I'm very happy with the final result of this coffee grinder. I really like how the handle turned out.
I hope you like my work and the video.

I'm guessing you restored that to better than new condition. Even that old piece of crap is better built than anything you could buy today.

Again, I'm sorry but that's not a restoration, it's a renovation. When you remove the original makers marks and even their mistakes you are changing its history. You might as well build one from new.

Why does he remove old paint before sandblasting?

    • Castell Bautista
Castell Bautista 2 days ago +1

I think I saw on some video, its because he doesn't want the removed paint added to the sand. So he removes as much as he can before sand blasting.

Someone commented in the vice video that it was to protect surfaces. Obviously doesn't apply here so I am also wondering

@Egor Guz так распил вроде как и есть, большая царапина по-сути.

    • Egor Guz
      Egor Guz 7 days ago
