Also, the cause of the escaping gas from Nyos wasn't quite like that, if I remember right. The carbon dioxide is correct, it's the cause of death, but the carbon dioxide had been increasing slowly over however many years, slowly, but the cause of the release of the gas is believed to be a landslide where a part of the cliff above Nyos fell into the lake, therefore stirring up the water and destroying the equilibrium, (my science isnt great here, but it basically stirred up the carbon dioxide and caused it to no longer sit in the water)
Furthermore, only a certain percentage of the CO2 was released. There was still lots in the water.
My information comes from a now somewhat dated source, so apologies for incorrect information. book called "Savage Planet", which may have been linked to a TV series? I don't have a TV

We have a very scary and dangerous lake here in Florida. This lake is SO polluted that even the small releases of water from it to lower its level cause MASSIVE fish kills. Manatee, turtles and Dolphin have been caught off guard and been killed also along with humans that have been made very sick just by contact with algae that grows at an alarming rate every time a 'release' of the lake's water happens. Multiple times, severe Red Tides have occurred in conjunction with these releases also- causing unprecedented consequences in the Gulf of Mexico... The farm runoff including fertilizers, herbicide, pesticides as well as raw sewage, industrial runoff from well upstream has been suspected also, but it all ends up in the giant cesspool known as Lake Okeechobee. Google it for more details... there are plenty of sources for these claims. Local politicians have used this subject to win elections, although like most campaign promises, not much gets accomplished after elections are won... Welcome to sunny Florida, come take a dip and eat some local-caught catfish, and you too can be freshly pickled by Lake O's pristine waters!

Sad that these mega farms and their inability to sustain their livestock on the land is not causing more alarm and press.
Why people do not realize chemicals and animal feces in large quantities equals (no pun intended) a SHIT SHOW is beyond me.

The reason why so many of these lakes are in Russia is simple. High volcanic activity buried by snow melt, the only reason you don't see this in other places such as Canada is due to the limited volcanic activity in the country.

The boiling lake theaters in your documentary is not located in the Dominican Republic but in the Commonwealth of Dominica. There are two island in the Caribbean which are named Dominica. One of them is the Dominican Republic and the other is the Commonwealth of Dominica which is referred to as the Nature Island of the Caribbean. I am from the Commonwealth of Dominica and have visited the Boiling Lake on eight occasions so I can identify the lake from your programs.

If you are going to "youtube" at least get the facts straight before uploading it. lol

Number 6 is complete bollocks: Dead lake is actually called lake kaindy. And there is life in it since its a popular place for trout fishing. Also you can see on countless pictures that there are algae growing on rocks and the tree stumps leftover in the lake. Last time I checked plants were classified as life. Also it is a popular tourist destination for ice diving. So I won't even bother watching the rest of this bollocks.
