How To Multiply Your Time | Rory Vaden | TEDxDouglasville

  • Опубликовано: 1 июн 2015
  • Everything you know about time-management is wrong. In this challenging and counter-intuitive video, Self-Discipline Strategist and New York Times bestselling author of Rory Vaden, shows you why you can't solve today's time-management challenges with yesterday's time-management strategies. More importantly he explains why procrastinating on purpose is the key to being able to Multiply your time.
Self-Discipline Strategist Rory Vaden’s book Take the Stairs is a #1 Wall St Journal and #2 New York Times bestseller. Rory is also Co-Founder of Southwestern Consulting™, an 8-figure global consulting practice. His new book Procrastinate On Purpose: 5 Permissions to Multiply Your Time came out in January of 2015 and was an instant National Bestseller. Free insights at .

"Efficiency" is intended to make things happen faster which only adds to the number of items in our to-do lists. "Prioritizing" is simply borrowing time from other tasks, not necessarily creating time. Urgency: how SOON does it matter? Importance: how MUCH does it matter?Significance: how LONG does it matter? You MULTIPLY your time by giving yourself the EMOTIONAL PERMISSION to spend time on things TODAY that will give you more time TOMORROW.The Focus Funnel (TM) is visual depiction of thought process for filtering tasks to MULTIPLY time: Eliminate > Automate > Delegate > Me.Items that make it to "Mm" are then split into NOW: concentrate and protect time to complete; or LATER: hold/procrastinate on purpose until task can be eliminated, automated or delegated.Difference in procrastinating due to "lack of motivation (negligence)" versus procrastinating because "right now is not the right time (intentionality)". Virtue: Patience, the art form of intentionally putting off insignificant tasks.God's 1st command to humans: "be fruitful and multiply"

The "important" vector includes the concept of "significance". This seems to be just tacking on a superfluous and redundant vector that needlessly complicates the Eisenhower Matrix, without actually fundamentally changing it. My opinion.

I don't care about tomorrow. It's impossible to live in the tomorrow. It isn't here yet. Don't do significant things for tomorrow. It's impossible to do that, because isn't here yet, technically it's never here. Only now exists. Why would you do significance for tomorrow, tomorrow isn't even promised. Do significance for right now, to apply now. I can touch now, I can't touch tomorrow. I want wisdom now, to apply! I want love now to apply! I want money now to apply! Etc. Have a lovely day. God bless

I am sick. I have Lyme disease. Therefore my mind and body always tells me, "Don't dare do today, what you can put off until tomorrow." So now I am working very hard to tell myself that if I do that, tomorrow will never come because I will be dead. So I work to invest for passive income so I can afford treatment. I have fought hard to regain my health. The fight is not over yet, as I am not in my grave yet. I still pray and work for better days, for better health to be able to enjoy days that God may permit me to add.

It depends on why you are doing it. If you are a student and you put off your homework until tomorrow that's due the next afternoon, that would be bad because in the long-run, you'll either miss the deadline and bring down your grades (which are important to you I'd assume if you're in school) or you'll try to get it done during your other classes and miss out on important information there which will bring down your grades or make your life harder because you'll have to play more catch-up to learn that information. Let's say you're a parent now. You have a pile of clean laundry you finished when you got home from work and you need to put it all up, but your 1 year old daughter is going to bed in a couple hours and you've been at work all day without seeing her. In this case, will that laundry being out really affect you if it stays until the next afternoon while you spend quality time with your child that you can't ever get back or put off in that same sense? Or even better, can you find spare time later, after she gets to bed, that you can do it instead? Or best of all: can you add it into your schedule with another more enjoyable thing so you could multitask and fold clothes while talking to your spouse or watching a movie together. In this way, you can procrastinate ON PURPOSE with a specific reason why and then still get it done later without sacrificing a personal top-priority thing. :)
