its tiny when you think about it. it may be super stretch 2 times monitors into one. But the fact they are actually a 27inch sizes screen. If your used to the 32inch monitors.. why would one wants to downgrade it. Isnt there a samsung super stretch screen 2 x monitor into one that are 32inch sizes screens ? Instead of a small 27inch.

I was looking for a monitor... at the beginning 21:9. Now I'm taken by 32:9! You can size it down to any size you want.
    @Linus ask them to make 32:9 in 7680 x 2160 at 120Hz, 1ms, 10-bit, 1000 nit, 250ppi, 100% DCI-P3.
Linus, I like your tech crazyness! :D
This is so freakin' exciting! Linus around the cutting edge monitors again.

When will we start to see 18:9 displays? With the more recent cinematic move to 18:9 and with the ratio being a good compromise between 16:9 and 21:9, I'd like to see 18:9 monitors and tvs.
And with 18:9, I'd like to see a 36:9, that way 18:9 content shows up better when splitting windows.

Honestly? A monitor with a decent PC in it would be amazing for our marketing department that really need nothing more. Until now, the only thing available would be an iMac at a gajillion bucks or the Surface Pro, both not intended for simple office work. Having a thin client right there in your monitor would be amazing.

  • Ruben Hansen

4:17 i think this was a nice change, obviously the monitor division knows what a great monitor is by the looks of it. When I see the system division create an all in one PC monitor it usually look really goofy IMO. That LG monitor is attractive, even though it might be sort of low spec.

In business environments where you're deriving most of your computing power from the server, this hmi type computer makes a lot of sense. Hospitals, dental offices, data entry, e-mail stations. none of these need powerful dedicated equipment, just a damn good monitor and a gigabit connection to the server.

  • Robinson Joe

The monitor with a computer attached is a game changer for office desks and front counters. Much nicer cleaner unit with lots of productivity space for your secretary. I can see lots of places like doctors/dentist offices, legal secretaries, corporate front desks etc buying these.

I've been waiting for that 38" 3840x1600 144Hz IPS display for what seems like ages! I would also take a 40" 4K 120Hz+ IPS/VA/OLED display as well. G-Sync is cool and all, but I'm not willing to pay Nvidia's bullshit G-Sync tax despite owning only Nvidia GPUs for the past 5+ years. That ship has already sailed. Just build a cheaper version with Freesync 2 support, and I'm in.

  • Crypto Playhouse
    Crypto Playhouse 4 months ago

I doubt this will be seen, but just a heads up on the "business" display with the PC: those are actually pretty common set ups for traders and financial analysts. Bloomberg terminal and a few other platforms are used in set ups like this in order to provide a standalone, dedicated environment for security and removing overhead. Had the pleasure of using a similar system rigged up with the Blockchain terminal trading system. Obviously a bit limited, but as a fan of special application operating systems it was super cool to see what they can do in such a simple package.

  • Psycho Naut
    Psycho Naut 4 months ago

for that last monitor it would be perfect for user terminals. i work in heavy duty truck repair at a dealership that is over 10,000 employees total most people i found only need screen real-estate for multiple web based applications simultaneously. the programs do not require much horse power and over 60% of computer users are using dual 24 inch 1080p displays and we are deploying more extra monitors than ever. when you combined the computer to the monitor and made it large enough to have same space as 2 1080p screens. you have just replaced a nuc and 1 monitors and all the cables that run to the nuc. eliminating points of failure. this sounds awesome if the price is similar at the next replacement interval.

I'll tell you what the all in one at the end is, it's a thin client. the wallpaper even said "cloud device." and the demo showed it running a VMware virtual machine. so it's basically a monitor with built in thin client which will likely be a push to move ultrawide into the enterprise space for "easier" deployment. lol

It's a thin client. So it's literally just a nice display with a simple computer slapped on the back that's really only made for connecting to a virtual machine. They're great for schools since all of the computer hardware is just a server somewhere with a bunch of virtual machines which helps keep things easy to maintain and simple to set up. They can also be used in the workplace, especially if you have an office without dedicated desks (think call centers and stuff like that) - thin clients enable people to access their own virtual desktop no matter what client they use to access it.

Probably not the cheapest option but would be pretty dam cool.

Linux, that type of monitor with that power builtin, is more than enough to decluter a creative company division, specially final composing, where pens and touchscreens are useless, decluter anywhere where office desktops are used. When it comes to that 38CK950N, that would be a huge seller in office spaces that require lots of screen real estate but don't wanna get too involved in the tech. For example I could see row after row of customer service stations with these on their desk. It's an ultrawide high res panel, which makes the multiple windows they will need to have open easy to use, and the all in one nature will be super clean and easy to manage for the desk space, so it is less wires being run, which is always a good thing. Also being a Ryzen APU is a good thing because AMD, so glad to see an OEM (LG) actually decided to go not Intel in an "all in one" for a change.
