When I saw the Astronaut suit was reflective and not showing the face of the astronaut something playing in my thought that there is something inside it. How about if the explorer was alien and they came to earth for exploration like reverse story. When I saw the Ending I am not surprise.

I almost knew immediately that the astronauts weren't humans. Call it a gut feeling. Then while exploring the opening - that told me that this was the connection to the title "Unearthed" and then it clicked - they're on a destroyed EARTH.
The thing is people - we as a species on this planet are going to go extinct one day. No one wants to discuss it or even think about it because of the implications it presents - but just as every other epoch of ancient history on Earth, what was alive then - is extinct today. So shall we then also go extinct.
The Sun will swell to 10x times its size - and then go supernova - The Milky Way Galaxy will collide with Andromeda and that will cause both Galaxies to explode in a fury of destruction with each systems black holes battling it out for supremacy.
Mankind will have been long ago been extinct with no trace of its existence. And in the distant future - even the cosmos will have run out of time and in an instant will implode to absolute nothingness.
And when I think about everything that was, is now or ever is going to be in the future suddenly just collapsing and instantaneously ceasing to exist forevermore - that is beyond my scope of fathomability. It is terrifying and ungodly to imagine.

Lindsey Allison Westhaven and why the fuck do you have to be so fucken depressing like of course no one what’s to talk how we will all die and man kind will be nothing but rumble we don’t talk about because it is a bad mentality and 2 IT IS SUPER FUCKEN DEPRESSING

Number 1 when andromeda and the Milky Way collide it most likely will not affect as at all if you do the fucken research you can see that

    • Lindsey Allison Westhaven
Lindsey Allison Westhaven 5 days ago

@Luke Cocomelllo - apparently you have no concept of the cosmos or how it will evolve and change with time. It is not fixed in place so that egocentric mankind can go on forever and ever for perpetuity. Nothing is permanent - no species lasts forever. Nor will man. Everything I posted is true and you cannot comprehend it or are so afraid of the future you prefer to bury your mind and head in a bucket of delusion.

I’m less than 5:00 min in and let me guess, they aren’t on the moon, but earth in the future. Boy is it going to be a big shocker at the end when they find something from our time on earth.

  • Marcus Foxelhaus

Not sure but tell me that is not earth and aliens are there looking for resources that are no longer there as that was not a human in the helmet at the end. What is this place? Earth. Great story but a sad ending.

  • Hugh Lusignan
    Hugh Lusignan 13 days ago

Those "aliens" were evolved human beings coming back to an earth that has been dead for a half million years. The name "Commander Mitchell" was called out by his partner. "Mitchell" a very anglicized name.

  • Nemon89
    Nemon89 13 days ago

Cool and moderately original idea. Although from the moment I saw the rebar concrete I expected it to end exactly how it ended. Maybe a little bit more fright from the alien in realisation, they stumbled upon a dead, but previously full of life planet.
Oh, and on the technical side, I get it's from 2011 but come on, humanity had the technology of making correct letterboxing.

  • Diresh Thevanayagam

The twist was pretty obvious. Could see it coming. But how come the "alien" ship is named after an Old Testament prophet and the miners have American names? A few changes could make it better and not telegraph the ending. But all in all, this was better than most of the crap coming out of Hollywood nowadays. Kudos!

There is an excellent line in this short video. Aren't you tired of chasing shadows?" That is what many people do in life; chase shadows. They trade the shadow for the substance. In- stead of living in the real world they live in one of their imagination, since they can't grapple with the here and now.
