Beat Menopause Belly Fat by Starving Your Fat Cells (Not Yourself)

    When you reach menopause your body wants more fat because fat is a source of estrogen.
    You don’t want those extra pounds, so in this video I’ll show you how to keep belly fat under control by starving your fat cells, without starving yourself.
    Menopause changes two things:
    1. It change where fat is stored on your body (i.e. more gets deposited in your midsection and less in your lower body).
    2. It changes where estrogen is produced. The ovaries no longer make estrogen, but your fat cells do, so higher body fat% is not frowned upon by your post-menopausal body.
    Cortisol is another hormone that is not automatically thought about with menopause, but it contributes to belly fat.
    Think of cortisol as the stress hormone, physical or emotional stress, even a lack of sleep causes an increased release of cortisol.
    Bottom Line: you have to work with your body during and after menopause to get it to do what you want.
    The trick is to starve your fat cells without starving yourself.

    It's a change of lifestyle after 55..yes it creeps up so going keto will definitely help believe me.. Be patient though it's a bumpy transition depending on how your diet has been.. You'll get there with time , experimenting and Patience!! No one can tell you your balance but you'll find it

      Hi Terri, for a diet to be effective, your full day of eating needs to provide you with the right mix of macronutrients (i.e. carbs, fats, proteins) to put your body in a fat-burning state. So, I don't like to say a food is allowed or not allowed.

    I think I am going through the "Change" I feel better when I fast. I had my gaulbladder out when I was 26. I think it has made it hard for me to metabolize the fats in my body and now all of a sudden Im hungry or at least think I am hungry all the time. I eat in the middle of the night because I need sleep meds or I cant sleep at all. I do at times feel light headed and weak, but if I can push through that I feel much better than when I eat through the day. My husband eats dinner and a snack at night and he is always energenic and slim. He doesnt have an ounce of fat on his body. Can this work for me even though I had my gaulbladder out? Thanks I hate this menapause stuff!!! I am desperate and I dont want to gain any more weight!

      Hi Laura, the gallbladder stores bile, which helps break down fats. But, even without a gallbladder, your liver still makes bile. So, most people without a gallbladder can still tolerate fats in their diet. How much is unique to each person.

    What if you are post menopausal and have HIGH estrogen? I had testing done and that is what I was told. All that I read about menopause and lacking estrogen. In my case, it's not so. Will this type of program work for me as well?

    cortisol is a result of high reverse t3 that puts the emergency brake on metabolism causing the weight gain,,if rt3 is above 15 then u hav an issue that needs attention

    I’m 2 years into menopause 😏but i intermittent fast 18:6 schedule since November and work out 5 days a week, and my visceral fast is normal. So far no belly fat.

    I am turning 57 in November and I weigh 99-100 lbs. My measurements are 36,23,35. I have never liked the taste of alcohol so I never drink, I guess that helps, also chocolate doesn't attract my attention so much. Stevia is somewhat safer than any other sweeteners. I also consume Ceylon cinnamon after meals, Ceylon cinnamon has the least amount of coumarin, a harmful compound found in cinnamon. I take 2 to 3 tablespoons of organic, cold-pressed coconut oil every day, as well as a half avocado almost every day and organic nuts, but just a few, because of the high-calorie content.I workout every day and engage in intermittent fasting almost every day, or every other day and I also stay hydrated.

    I need my estrogens back!
    I'm 55yrs old and living with menopause. Everything inside my body is threatening to go southwards.
    Diets are good including healthy meals. But exercising is important too, that's if one has the energy.
    Today's lifestyle is to blame also all the added chemicals and excess sugars added into our foods doesn't help.
    You need money to eat well in all honesty, but even then there are other factors outside our control at work!
    Life is too short to worry about this so eat and be happy and ignore trying to be perfect.

    The ketogenic diet worked for me. I have had IBS-C since I was 12, I am now 46. I use to take 90 tablets of fiber daily in order to be normal. I have seriouse arthritis and peri-pausal for about 5 years. Now I never need fiber tablets, I am regular and my joints no longer hurt. My periods are back to normal as well. I also use to need chocolate or sweets every night. I now no longer need sweets at all. Keto doesn't work for everyone, but for me, I am glad my doctor told me to eat this way. My father had diabetes and heart disease and my brother had high blood pressure, my father passed away at 73, my brother had cardiac arrest at 50 and died while doing laundry. After reviewing my family's history, that's when my doctor said," you need to go on a ketogenic diet ". Eating this way now 2 1/2 years and A1C is down, my particle sizes are large and perfect and have no inflammation. Weight issue was not a problem, I am 5'6" and 125. Been this weight my whole life. But after having a baby I still can not get rid of the little fat around the belly.

    I tried to fast and it had triggered gastritis. So, I have to eat smaller portions. I have also taken up yoga. That’s helping to reduce my belly fat but not as much as I wanted. The process is slow... 😔

    The alcohol works! I was apprehensive because it seems counter intuitive. But my glucose meter does not lie. Having a 'lady sized' drink (5 oz wine, or cocktail with 1.5 oz liquor, or a 12. oz beer per day) with or about a half hour prior to a fatty meal keeps my blood sugar from spiking 'too much'. And, if I had a spike because I skipped a drink taking a shot of liquor (like a flavored gin or vodka) will lower it really fast, almost 80 points in an hour and twenty minets. I just pictured men with beer bellies and was afraid to drink. But those guys drink too much, causing a major blood sugar crash which incites them to over eat.

    If your body clings to fat for estrogen, wouldn't consuming organic soy diminish the need for the body to do so (cling to fat for estrogen), since it has phyto-estrogens? And what about Maca and other non-phytoestrogenic adaptogens?

    I do Intermittent Fasting 16/8 every single day. I also work out 3 mornings in a week in a fasted state. It attacks belly fat it works !

      +Kay Muldoon Fasting 16/8 is not a problem losing electrolytes just drink plenty of water. If you were fasting 3 days or so that would be different. 16/8 and you're fine !

    I used to be super skinny. All my life I could just eat whatever and be fine and stayed at 128lbs. It's not like I ate junk or over ate. I just ate healthy at meal time and ate until I felt naturally full. I didn't have to exercise any specific amount of time to burn fat. But when I entered my 40s I found out that I went in to early menopause. In a year and half I gained 25lbs out of no where. I was not over eating or eating high fat or carbs. I was not eating late at night. I was not eating sugar foods. These days I am hovering at 155lbs. I have tried intermittent fasting in that I eat 10am until 4pm and fast after until the next day at 10am. I have cut out breads even and the whites. But nonetheless I cannot drop the weigh. I even went vegan/pescatalian. My cholesterol has gone up and BP too. I have had my labs done and nothing wrong with my thyroid. I simply got fat. I could eat nothing and still gain weight. I now have a double chin, big boobs, wide hips and tons of belly fat. I am beyond frustrated. It's like my metabolism just came to a screeching halt. I just don't know what to do for myself. Very depressing, but I am learning to cope.

    hi, I actually already do all these things, but have gained about 7 lbs of fat in my belly. i'm also 48 and post menopausal. i'm trying to get my hormones right (BHRT). i have been hit hard by aging skin (hanging and crepey) in the past 2 years since my last period.
    I am actively trying to lose the 7 lbs...(I'm 122 and want to be back to 115 so i can at least have my old wardrobe back!)...i am wondering though, how much is too much to lose? you mention that our fat cells now become the estrogen maker...but weren't clear on how much fat should we just be ok with ? I do eat a lot of healthy fat (avo, olive and coconut oils) perhaps I'm eating too much? thanks so much

    Just stick to eating 3 times a day 7am. - 12.30. - 18.30 this gives you time of 12 hours to let all food digest. In between food just do not think of food get off your a..... and do things.

    I am passed menopause at 65 yrs. old, but I still find this information very helpful. I have been doing some of this stuff already. The fat coming off the stomach (middle and lower) is coming off extremely slowly, but it is coming off. I need to get better at consistency and adding in what I haven't been doing.     I'm 53, overweight 84kg, now on Dukan diet (no carbs no fat) for a month only lost 5kg. it really is soooo hard. I did this 5 years ago and lost 19kg now it seams impossible and yes my stomach is revolting. What else can I do? If I eat nuts and avocado I gain weight.

    1. Keep cortisol low. Less stress. Avoid processed food
    2. Eat a lot of vegetables, fruits, healthy fats (nuts and seeds, avocados)
    3. Extras to add to diet - Ceylon cinnamon, 70% or higher cocoa chocolate, one drink a day (12oz beer, 5oz wine or 1.5oz hard drink)
    4. Time restricted eating - 12hr to eat and 12hr to rest.

    I'm doing buy a bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. I'm 47 years old had a lot of belly fat and I knew it was hormones. I take estrogen progesterone and selenium iodide and I have lost about 6in from my belly.

    I'm wondering if aerobic exercise is counterproductive as it seems to raise cortisol and (in me - T2 diabetic) raises blood sugar. What type of exercise would be good for lowering cortisol and toning the body without raising blood sugar.

      It depends on the intensity, duration, lifestyle, stress. There are many aspects to consider with exercise recommendations.

    Thank you! This has been working for me. But, what is the best kind of food to eat (protein, fruit, that kind of thing) if you're extremely hungry late at night, so hungry that you're willing to shift your 12 hour window later?

      Hi null, late night eating is not a good option for weight loss. The trick to avoiding it is making sure that you are getting the right mix of macronutrients (i.e. fats/protein/carbs) in your meals to control hunger and allow for fat burning.       Song of Songs Have you tried actually fasting ie: not eating at all for days . Look up snake juice lifestyle.
