According to GPS, just today, I hit one 343 yards. Flat hole, not too much wind, I just crushed it. The hole was 520 yards long, and I ended up with 177 left.

I hit a ball today in fact for 353 yards according to golf gps lol. I knew I absolutely smashed it and there was a step hill after about 245~ so there was a good chance it was gonna roll far but unfortunately I couldn’t see the ball due to this hill so I’m not sure how much was carry and how much was roll. :/ it was a nitro ultimate distance which has me thinking I could’ve been using an illegal ball which led to this video right here lol. Had a 120 yard to pin 2nd shot on a par 5! Felt insane! Unfortunately I followed it up by being about 10-15 yards short of the green but dead on line with the pin :/. Still gotta birdie though. You’re welcome for the book I wrote to a simple question.

If swing speed is the same and ball speed was different then the nitro ball was heavier, assuming the coeficient of of restitution was the same. Where it gets interesting is if the CoR is bigger with the second ball it would have more momentum, and while the carry distance would be less the rolling distance would be dramatically larger. I have a feeling this is the case here, but don't know since the simulator is based on preset variables.

Amazing. You are still 'heart'ing comments so you're clearly reading the comments section, yet you've completely ignored those who have shown that the results of this test are inaccurate and left the video up without so much a notice of your mistake? If you're trying to make these balls look bad, you're making yourself look quite the fool in the process.

I'm guessing the ball goes further in real life opposed to this simulator. I don't know much about golf but I bet air resistance has a big play on how far the ball goes. If the simulator put the same air resistance on every ball then it won't be accurate. Try hitting it on the driving range or a on a real course.

  • Jordan Graham
    Jordan Graham 2 months ago

Is it possible the ball has a lower drag coefficient in the air; which would increase the distance traveled vs a computer model that (im ignorant here) PROBABLY assumes that its a "Standard" golf ball? If the ball has extra heft, but a lower drag coefficient, its feasible to assume that the hit speed on the mat would be slower; so the model might lower the distance compared to a real world example? I dont play golf, Im just here because youtube recommended this; thought it was intriguing.

  • Ahkuji
    Ahkuji 2 months ago

Dude the sim has to be set cheat mode.. or the balls have to be outside so the aerophysics can do its magic.

  • Zesty
    Zesty 2 months ago

So many comments already about how the simulation stood no chance of giving you an accurate representation of a non-regulation ball's flight path.
And yet none of those comments were recognized by you it seems. Comments above and below with hearts and comments by you but completely ignored the others.
Why not? Unless you scanned the ball and updated the simulation with the new balls characteristics it seems pretty likely that the simulation was still simulating a normal ball.
And if the ball was heavier than that would explain the loss of MPH as you wouldn't have accelerated the ball the same as a lighter one.
What matters is how the ball behaves in their air then, and since that was simulated we'll not know if your test is accurate at all.

    BLVCK PLAYS 2 months ago

I haven’t watched the whole video but you’ll probably find your simulator isn’t made to respond to different balls characteristics.... so as soon as your ball hits the receiver.... it doesn’t fly with it’s illegal characteristics.... it’s probably the dimples that help the extended flight

A solid core is more like a range ball, correct? Distance comes from the ball compressing and then the elasticity of the ball pulling it back to it's normal round shape, I thought. What about a non-dimpled ball that supposedly flys straighter?

  • Coleman Adamson

Doesn't take into account the dimple pattern...does it make a difference? And it isn't the real world. BUT it may be this pro golfer is not strong enough...maybe no golfer is. The ball may be manufactured to a point where no man can swing hard enough (fast, whatever) to take advantage of the greater distance capability.

Did you ever wonder if your testing equipment is maybe not calibrated for illegal balls? You might want to try a real world test of ball. For instance, if this ball bounces better, it will go further, but your simulator assumes a "normal/legal" bounce...

I know absolutely NOTHING about golf. Never played it before in my life and even I could tell you the simulator can't tell the difference between the balls. Maybe if there was some kind of imput to change ball weight then maybe you'd get different results on a sim. But I bet they work better outside.
