Hell yeah, they're the best at cold war jets. Every module is full of amazing detail and care, so no wonder that the F-14 is the biggest module size wise in my inventory. So much character and love that went into them it's amazing. This is an instant buy for me for sure.

@SuperJeb98 I 'm with you ! The same lot of aircraft ( with slight changes ) could recreate the Israeli-Egyptian war of 1973 ( some aircraft like the Israeli copy of Mirage-III can be introduced as A.I. for a start ) with the omission of course of the A-7E and the A-6. The relevant map and the A.I. aircraft may follow the F-4E.

    • SuperJeb98
      SuperJeb98 3 months ago +1

      @Chris Snakeeyed305 I'm hoping that they make a flyable F-105

    • Chris Snakeeyed305
      Chris Snakeeyed305 3 months ago +1

This would come complete with the upcomming A-7E and the A-6 aircraft as well as with a Vietnam and Cambodjia map. A slight degrade of the existing MiG-21bis would have rendered the MiG-21MF of that era. Equally a slight degrade of the MiG-19P would have resulted in another important aircraft of the Vietnam war. Moreover the MiG-17 is comming. Along with A.I. aircraft like the F-105 Thunderchief and the F-100F, the Vietnam war would be perfectly reproduced.

Good to see the Phantom II getting some love in this game. My uncle flew Phantoms and used to joke with me that if you rotated the engines 90 degrees and flew the plane sideways it's aerodynamic properties wouldn't change at all, the Phantom doesn't generate lift to fly, it just screams so loud gravity can't object.

Saw one do a bunch of flybys live in an exhibition last year and holy shit was it fucking loud. One of the few jets we had to cover our ears for when it flew above.
Really satisfying though. 10/10 would go deaf again.

For a couple of years now, I’ve phantasized about Heatblur creating an F-4. It just made since, because the F-4 was designed around a two pilot crew, similar to the Tomcat. One big difference is that the E will have a stick in the back of course. But then I would think about all that they have in development and write off my prediction as wishful thinking.
When I heard the news today and watched this video, I had pulled in the driveway, sat in the car, and literally began sobbing. I know that it’s crazy, but my dad flew F-4s in Vietnam and loved the E so much. No, he worshipped it. He had been up North so many times and it always brought him and the rest of his flight home. I so wish that he was still here to experience this. I’d put the VR goggles on him, he would have been 89 this year, and watch him have his way with it. A few of his squadron mates are still around. I’m going to make it my mission to get them in the Heatblur Phantom.

My father was a USAF F-4 driver from 1967 until he retired in 1997, and I need to show him this because he is still absolutely in love with the F-4E. :) Too bad the upgrades proposed in the late 1970s and early 1980s were not implemented. These would have created the "super-phantom" with the engines from the Pratt & Whitney engines from the F15/16, and the F16's radar, as well as greatly updated avionics. ☺☺☺

Those projects were so great, Both Israeli and Boeing Super Phantoms, Unfortunately all of them has been stopped due McDonnell Douglas the company that had built F-4 about 20 years ago before this project were presenting F/A-18 Hornet to its costumers on that time, As what experts say both of this Phantoms' performance was same as Hornet and this was what could endanger F/A-18 sales and sadly this upgrading programs stopped by McDonnell but I don't understand one thing, Israelis just wanted to upgrade their own F-4Es and they never even thought about buying F/A-18s on that time, They even didn't got any suggestion from McDonnell to buy the Hornets but the company stopped this very cruelly.

After they released the CV-59 USS Forrestal, and now developing the F-4E and the A-6E, promising to do other F-4 models, its seems clear to me that Heatblur have a grand Vietnam Era plan in mind. Maybe they will even do a Vietnam map for all that. It goes without saying that all of those modules will be an instant buy for me. Can you guys even imagine that, flying the F-4J, A-6E and the community A-4E with your friends from aboard the USS Forrestal carrier? Thats a dream for us sim lovers, and a goldmine for Heatblur. Well, they can have my money!

This might be one of my favorite teasers of all goddamn time. Well done with the VO from the hearing. That was an amazing touch that represented the political and doctrinal controversy that surrounded this airframe. This is *the most* awesome news for DCS thus far this year. For me, anyway. If anyone is going to pull this off right, it's Heatblur. Especially when they're partnered with none other than Eagle Dynamics themselves.

Planes like the F-22, F-16, SU-27, etc are great looking planes but the Phantom just looks mean. A junkyard Pitbull among showdogs.
I talked to a National Guard pilot who flew both the F-4 and F-15. He said that if he had to go into combat the F-15 no doubt. But for just flying he sad hands down the F-4 because it was such a visceral experience. He described as dating a beauty queen versus the plain looking nymphomaniac. You knew that everytime you got on the nympho you were going to leave with a grin.

Just wanted to say that this announcement just pushed me into the stratosphere of hype… I’ve been a phan since the late 80s and early 90s with the Atari ST game “Flight of the Intruder”. Flew the phantom then as a kid next to my dad. This is the culmination of my simflying career, and if this is done with all the lessons learned from JESTER straight out the box, I may actually never feel the need to buy another module again.
Until you get the A6E done. And the Draken. And now, thanks to the Viggen, the Lansen too.
Oh, and a Thud. And an A-1. And the English Electric Lightning.

@utpharmboy2006 I can’t even begin to make the comparison to actually being shot at, but honestly it’s one of the reasons that combat flight sims have always appealed more than GA flying. I respect all pilots and their abilities as an aviation enthusiast, but this era of flying fascinates me as it really is, in my opinion, the last time people’s skill made more of a difference to how well you could find the edge of the performance envelope of a jet fighter without a computer casting the final vote.
Mad respect to your buddy, and I certainly am both envious of his time flying and grateful it wasn’t me. I hope you both get what I’m trying to say :)

It is amazing to see these beautiful old war-birds flying over half a century after their design was first developed, there is something to them that I can't describe that makes me feel in a unique way, they bring so much beauty and emotion.
I believe that fighter jets of that era are like Gibson and Fender guitars. The best ones were made in the 50's and 60's. There's something about that time period where excellence was just that much better.
I will always love these planes no matter how better and advanced the upcoming ones will be.
Looking forward for a modern version of the plane (e.g AUP), it is really going to spice things up!

@sensualeye The battlefield changes, but old tech stays the same. That's what makes it so special. A fighter interceptor from a different time, back when things were simpler.

The JSDF (Japanese Self Defense Force) just retired their F-4Js and RF-4s after 50 years of service. They are being replaced by a plane that will never live up to its predecessor.

I have loved the F-4 since I was a kid. I grew up on MacDill AFB in the 70's when the 56th. Tactical Fighter Wing was there and flying F-4 C/D Phantoms. I got to get up close to them many times . Hell I have an MB H-7 Ejection Seat from a F-4G "Wild Weasel" Phantom aircraft # 69-0297 sitting in my office right now....

Maintaining (working on) NOT so great! I've got the scars to prove it. 22 years on F-4C/D/E/G and a bit of RF-4C time as well. But, that's REAL world stuff.

@Ratatoskr The Meteor outperforms any AAMRAM in existence, not only the C5 or C8. Even the D variant is no competition. Guess why Lockheed Martin is developing the AIM-260?

    • MrPawno

@Ratatoskr you know the meteor is officially confirmed, right?

    • Ratatoskr
      Ratatoskr 4 months ago

@FirstDagger It outperforms the AIM-120C-5 that we have, not AMRAAMs in general. There is also no guarantee that we'll get the Meteor in the game considering some of the tech just to simulate it is not in DCS. In short, hold your horses on that excitement.

Thank God Heatblur is developing the F4 Phantom and the A6 Intruder for DCS. I was very excited to see this F4 Phantom announcement. We are lucky to have the F-14 Tomcat, F-4 Phantom and the A-6 Intruder now. I also have hopes and dreams for the A-1 Skyraider, A-4 Skyhawk, F-8 Crusader and the F-105 Thunderchief in the future. God Bless all of you at Heatblur! You guys are amazing.

@heatblur I've spent the last ~2+ years in mourning because the F14B is so wretched STR/ITR/TWR/lift-wise in BFM. Also the fragile flap damage model neutered it below 300kts. When you guys frailized/fragilized the F14B flaps and it went from being so awesome at BFM to being so wretched at BFM, part of me died.

      @Bartacomus Kidd
      "Have some respect"?
As a software engineer myself, I understand the development process takes a long time and is complicated, especially with lower employee counts and now with covid. I was making a light hearted & stereotypical JOKE, not critiquing their company, developers or procedures, I love their brilliant products myself (Razbam's, and other developers equally). Please, relax.

    • Bartacomus Kidd
      Bartacomus Kidd 5 days ago

Razbam released modules as fast as ED, until the HIND and Apache came out so quickly. How many *Years* have these guys been teasing an A6 Intruder? AI skin? Longer than Razbam has teased the Strike Eagle. Have some respect.
Eagle Dynamics programming the nuts and bolts, and Heatblur doing the beauty.. is exciting.
But i fly the Harrier.. which means, i will be paying full price for the Strike Eagle because i know its worth it, and im still waiting for the Tomcat to go on a proper sale to buy it.
