Read all the comments, I have not seen a man selling his message more than this guy did with a ted talk. So many people are convinced to try it. There's something much more important to learn here. It is that imperfection and vulnerability connect us in a powerful way. This guy did what he got there to do, with utter imperfection and vulnerability, and we all love him.

My secret to whatever success I've had in life is listening and learning from wise people. This man is one of them.

I usually wake at 4:30, but it's really difficult. Sometimes, I use the snooze function of my phone. BTW, you have a point about the snooze function- it is really is worthless. This video had motivated me to continue waking up early. I commend you for speaking English even though it's not your native language. Anyhow, your delivery is not so bad, I had fully understood it. Thanks :)!

I wake up early. Sometime I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall asleep.
I have decided to go with it.
    I get some work done.
So far it has been great

Just a little effort. . .and you will 'hear' well, his message. No effort; no 'Will'.. .no time; only speaks to those who will not 'hear; Matos talk 'in full'.

Unless you can go to bed at 9pm you will deprive yourself of an essential requirement for health. Few people can sleep so early. The best wisdom is , bed by 11 wake up at 7.

    Interesting topic, horrible public speaker.

  • Michael Friedland

I sometimes do public speaking. I'm getting to enjoy it more and more. I read something interesting recently that people here discussing this guy and his nervousness may find interesting. When you're nervous before a public speaking engagement, the majority of your nervousness comes from your solar plexus area. I once heard some celebrity tell Johnny Carson (after he asked if she ever gets nervous) that the thing to do is to take a deep breath and hold it and to clench your fists and squeeze all your muscles and energy right into your solar plexus area once or twice. It works really just seems to dissipate the jangles. The thing that I read most recently was in an article about Chakras. The writer, who also does public speaking explained that the SAME energy that makes you (think) that you're nervous IS the SAME energy that YOU can use to make your presentation interesting and has to do with YOU turning that energy (in your mind) into the positive energy that YOU will then control for your talk. And he explained that this energy center in your Solar Plexus is located exactly at one of your Chakras...the one that speaks to your ability to be confident and in control of your life. Food for thought...

Amazing advice... one of the best TED talks. Speaker may be nervous or has a speech/ language issue but get the message and pass it on and thank the speaker and encourage him. Thank you dear speaker for the transforming talk. Waking up early started a series of new bold habits.

PS: TOP CORNER OF SCREEN (the 3 dots) give you a menu: (1) set playback speed to .75 or even slower to .50 and it is very easily understood . 🤓 (2) or otherwise click there the ‘cc’ and you get the written words in whatever language you pick to appear at bottom of screen. Adorable kid! He did well trying his best speaking in public and being nervous. It gets easier understanding him after halfway through the video😊
About the subject matter: there is a German saying I heard a lot way back in ancient time when I was young: “Morgenstunde hat Gold im Munde” (exact translation “morning hour holds gold in its mouth”)

Let's not forget that waking up early DOESN'T always mean you HAVE to be "productive" , maybe it's about catching and experiencing a sunset, taking a walk at dawn before the world wakes up or spending extra time with your furry friend while drinking your coffe/tea.. it's different for everyone and just as beneficial.
