Beyonce should have been on the list, at the very least as an honorable mention. I agree with Aretha Franklin as #1 and Whitney Houston at #2 but Celine Dion should have been #3, not 9. I love most of these artists though (except Janis Joplin, who was a horrible singer regardless of who disagrees), but Celine Dion at #9? Really?

Strange list...Linda Ronstadt should have at least been an honorable mention. I love Joplin, but to be honest, she wasn't a really great vocalist. Lots of passion, but mostly screaming. I could go on and on about who should have been on the list. Like I said, strange list.

There are so many greats that it’s a top ten list that should probably feature twenty singers.
Sinead O’Connor comes to mind. Incredibly powerful voice with a lot of range. Don’t know how many octaves. Her debut album The Lion and the Cobra is probably among the most original works among this list of notables. It definitely has a unique style that isn’t for everyone, but her vocal power is pretty undeniable. Listen to the song Jerusalem and you’ll see what I mean.
Oh, yeah I would definitely add Sia to this list but I think this video came out before she blew up.

Whitney by far is the best.Celine is easily no 3 or 2 and some people can easily put her on 1 too.I mean what type of music these people listen to.Fuck you lol.As far as Adele is concerned I love her voice better than Mariah.More emotions.I won't compare Mariah to Whitney,Whitney is better for me but Mariah has bigger range.Same here Mariah has bigger range than Adele but Adele is much better for me sounding wise. She is awesome.

Give me a break! Streisand as an honorable mention. Clearly, the people responsible for this list are not particularly knowledgeable. Try again, and hopefully, you'll get it right this time. Where is Gladys Knight, Anita Baker, and Toni Braxton? The list should be renamed my favorite singers, not the top ten female vocalists.

exactly .. and it's also pretty clear that the vast majority of the comments are from ppl who know little (or nothing) pre-1985 or '90. Where's Dionne Warwick? Dusty Springfield? Karen Carpenter? Sarah Vaughan?

Janis was a giantess of psychedelic rock and soul, no doubt, but as a vocalist, she relied on her ability to scream to the exclusion of almost all other techniques. Great entertainer and pop personality yes but, in my opinion, not a great vocalist.

For what concerns the Europe among the singers in the middle of their career Adele is by far the most heard, more than Mariah, Aguilera, Celine etc ...

  • GarageStudio
    GarageStudio 9 days ago +9

    *Me:* Mariah is at #5
Hmm I wonder who's gonna be at #4
*Also me:* Probably the one who sang 🎶 And IIIIII 🎶OoP........
*Adele?!* You've got to be kidding me! This should be titled top ten singers (based on personal preference) but once you use the term vocalist, so many factors such as technique, utilization of range, agility etc. come in & Adele wouldn't even be on this list if we're talking about *Vocalists.* *The Top 4 Spots* should be between Aretha, Mariah, Whitney & Celine (in that order, based on vocal ability, technique & longevity).

Nobody can agree this list. If you want to include those legendary singers, you can’t put Christina Aguilera there. She could be in top 100, but not top 10. And Beyoncé is a much better singer/performer than her. This is joke.

This is nuts. I'm NOT racially bias. I'm realistic. And there's only THREE white women that should've even been CONSIDERED for this list. Adele, Christina Aguilera and Janis Jopline. Besides them, can't no white women TOUCH a black woman's voice when it comes to singing. Black women just have a certain umph that white women don't. I know of black women that sing in church on Sunday that could blow EVERY white woman on this list out the waters. The average black female r&b singer can out blow what's co sided the best among whites which is Adele.....which she is VERY good. But even out sub par artists like Keisha Cole or Jasmine Sullivan could out sing just about any white girl. And it's not a race thing. It really isn't. I'm just goin off of the most powerful and majestic female voices and they just happened to be black.
