My response to the "if your not homophobic you should have no problem apologizing again and again" would be, if your not racist you should have no problem apologizing for being not being racist. 1) past is past, people are not always the same, situations change, mind ls change. Lots can change meaning calling someone "gay" 10 years ago when people would say anything and everything is "gay" because they don't like itand moving and maturing is a huge possibility. 2) he's got a huge point. Just because you do something wrong, be it what ever, and you apologize for it once, twice, what ever, another apology isn't going to resolve or change or fix the situation. 2A)its like breaking a glass. It's broken. It's irreparable what can be done but apologize and move on. 2B) you do not have to be an advocate for every mistake you've ever made 10 years ago. There are worst jokes that were made 10 years ago that did not relate to homophobia and many people who said them regret them. That doesn't mean they have to create a charity, donate. Make a pr stunt holding a rally and create signs on how bad said topic is. Even it being a homophobic joke, what about the millions of people who said the same joke and grew out of that phase and no longer have that mentality? You could be friends with someone who was an asshole ten years ago and changed to be great and not even know it. So does that mean that friend needs to apologize a millions time? As well, him being a comedian, they have to be edgy and one up the next. It's understandable they have bad taste jokes once n a while to get that it factor. Every comedian has it. It doesn't made them a bad person, so long they know what they did and grow from it. As well keep in mind you have nazis and white suppress people and many more who come from shitty groups who have done shitty things who have changed for the better and some do and don't have a charity behind them.
Also take note an apology is just a word, regardless if there are feelings backed behind it or not, it is up the individual themselfs to make the world a better place. Trust is a big thing and second and again it's just a word. It shouldn't mean anything if he said something bad and then apologized for it. If he a good person and does good today that should be what matters does he confront and recognize what he has done, yes. But it's not stopping his life and if this stops someone else's life because someone said something and hasn't apologized 191 times, then you aren't livigg your best life putting your best foot forward and making the world a better place.
People are killed and tortured everyday, raped and their villages ransacked. If one more "sorry" is a priority from a comedian who makes alot of money, then you need to think where your stance is.

I wish the best for Kevin Hart as he fights the Twitter mob.
To anyone outraged at him, I ask, “What could he possibly do to redeem himself?” If you respond, “Nothing,” then you are being unfair. If you manage to eliminate human redemption from society, then once the tables turn on you (as they do when societies change, and the political pendulum swings the other way), you and your life will be irredeemable as well. If you respond with anything deliberately vague like “Being an ally,” then you are not helpful to anyone who wants to avoid your wrath since they cannot change for what you see as the better. You probably just want more people to destroy.
The only way for change to happen and improve society the way you want to is to set out a clear plan for said change. Unless all the problematic people die, nothing will be accomplished without setting out goals for those people. If you would rather have all of them die for political reasons, then you are one of the few who probably deserve that fate.

I think its so wrong of Austin to buy that lolly for that young child it doesn't matter what store it's in but he should have said no if I was the till staff member I would have said sorry sir but I'm not willing to sale you this item as I know its for this child even if I lost the job. Its so messed up and just wrong he should have said no and then walk away.

  • Emily Niedbala

Some of what he said goes beyond jokes into hate speech. He needs to denounce those specifically and explain why they are wrong and he was wrong and prove that he feels differently by saying, for instance, “I am incredibly sorry that I was so wrong, and I promise that if I had a gay son, I would love him and be proud of him and wish no harm to come to him because of it.”

He doesn't owe you anything more than he's given you. You people demanding still more apologies are the assholes as far as I can tell. His frustration is entirely valid. okay. not all vaccines are created equally. It is good to question authority so that you can have true science. I would hate to have another thalidomide fiasco. Question the results. Find out what is true. Study epistemology.
Personally, I have yet to find a study comparing the effectiveness of universal precautions to the flu vaccine and I have been asking that question for more than ten years! That being said, the evidence for immunizing against measles is quite strong. I hope that we can have science rather than scientism and that we will continue to question the validity of scientific studies. Denying people the ability to question the science is wrong and denying facts is also wrong.

So why should I change my ways to suit them if they cannot accept the concept that people make mistakes but people can and do change?

(moment!) Yeah, when it comes to things like this is mess up! You shouldn't have bad intentions in what you are doing or saying things that be little them or harm people. But instead care but don't get offended. Heck, I am gay but in my personal life went crappy so I became asexual!( I hate labels but if you want to put them then there you go!) Look I forgive people like kevin hart because as long as you learned your lesson and don't be a asshole about it, it's fine! Either way their jokes are funny ones but again if you are use words or worse harming other because there not "normal" then that's when you lose my respect! Plus i just hate when parents say I don't want my children to grow up being lgbt+. Whether they are or are not don't ever neglect or feel shame of your kids for being that way! (All I can say "great parent of the year!") All I am saying is to forgive one another and treat each other with care because the world is so short to be hating for no reason when death is around the corner!

People are honestly being ridiculous at this point there is nothing Kevin Hart can do to that would please the forever offended liberal/lgbt community. Someone does not have to apologize for the same instance 1000 times, you either choose to accept the apology or not but you can force or badger someone into apologizing in exactly the way you want to hear it over and over again, it’s regressive. Just like in a relationship, if your partner does something wrong and they sincerely apologize you either choose to forgive them or not but bringing that same mistake up over and over again and forcing them to apologize will never help the situation it just keeps you stuck in a bitter and hateful place, whether or not you accept the apology people need to move on as there is nothing left to be done other than let Kevin Hart prove what he says through his actions as he has done for years now

The answer to Kevin Hart's problem is simple:
In order to placate the masses all he needs to do is to divorce his wife (cease all intercourse with women in general preferably) and publicly come out as a gay man himself. He can then say that these jokes came from a place of self loathing but now he is brave enough to face who he really is.
he will go from a pariah to a hero in no time. extra points if he comes out as transgender. Then all he'll have to do is convert to islam and he'll be a gay black transgender muslim, the effective king of all victims and patron deity of SJWs everywhere

I serious think Kevin is an okay guy, I don't understand why the media is in uproar about someone who made, at worst an ignorant comment, and at best a bad joke a decade ago. I understand it's offensive, no disputing that, but isn't the big thing that people aren't defined by a single action? He's apologized and recognized it was in poor taste, I don't think he deserves to be crucified.
Two decades ago it was nearly common to have an ignorant opinion of homosexuals, or anyone treading that territory. Let's celebrate change, not hold decade-old grudges over bad jokes.

Also I'm sorry but every gay or whatevers or people in general that bothered by Kevin Hart's tweets can go back to their closets. I hate language policing and I'm sorry but if 2 tweets or a couple of jokes is enough to shake your world, that just means you don't have that stable world to begin with. America has freedom of speech but for some unknown reason people who claim to like liberty and freedom use this right to harass and bully others and create this frontier justice. If you really want to make a "*shocking*" story about Kevin Hart make the story about where he forced to step down from hosting because some people try to blackmail him with it. Americans have been dealing with “how to forgive” since the beginning. For the best example of what I’m talking about look to the scarlet letter. How long should anyone have to wear their letter? My guess is the answer will always be it depends. But what it depends on is entirely subjective.

A lot of people from the LGBTQ community will never be happy, and they dont want equality. Even if a person apologizes 100 times, it wasn't good enough, do it again, do it better, not sincere enough, hes playing the victim, he doesnt understand, it's just damage control. People used to make fun of LGBTQ, and now the LGBTQ ostracize anyone who disagrees with them like a school bully even if it was 10 yrs ago and that individual has changed. It just Does not matter to a lot of them, even if its hypocritical.

I got my flu shot Phil 😭. Still got the flu tho. However, I’m not idiotic enough to think that the vaccine gave me the flu. I went on a trip to Tampa with students in my county and tons of people got sick up there. The vaccine given to me must’ve not contained the strain of influenza that I was exposed to. It had 4 other strains. A flu vaccine simply has dead flu viruses in it that can do no harm, and when they enter your body, your immune system identifies the antigens on the surface of the viruses bodies and creates antibodies for those specific viruses so that if your immune system ever encounters that virus again it already has a defense against it. Pretty amazing honestly.

Wait.... hold on... oh no... I can feel it coming... the autism!!! Ah everyone run!!! Please don’t come near me or else you’ll get autism too!! The pain!!!

Group identities need to stop this mob mentality and taking offense for the general public of that group. If Kevin Hart has personally attacked you verbally or physically, then you have the right to be offended and need to be apologized to. Otherwise get over it! He has apologized many times. Whether or not the apology is accepted is indifferent. These groups, such as the LGBTQ community need to stop being in this victim hood mentality. They cry and cry for equality and change, yet when someone acknowledges their mistakes and actively changes, they ignore it and continue to harass the person for more and to grovel for their forgiveness as if that person is not worth of the LGBTQ communities attention. The LGBTQ has become so toxic and desperate.

My older brother came out to me when I was 14 while he was away at school. It meant nothing to me, I cared exactly the same amount for him as the day before and he was still my best friend. But I also would use gays slurs with my friends until the end of high school. It was never said with any malice to the gay community, but it was what friends chirped at each other at the time. Now the word bites a little to hear and I wished we used better language as kids. I'm still very close with my brother and his partner. Now, do you think I'm a homophobe? Is it worth my employer knowing the words I used to use? What else could there be besides regret?
The Hart thing isn't the exactly the same. But we're growing up in a global community together and slowly learning how to live with each other together. Most of us made the same mistakes as everyone else did when we were younger and dumber as a society.

Didn't get a chance to say anything when this video dropped so I'm coming back to say something now even though it's late. Going first towards people who are anti vaccinations that are obviously killing the world bit by bit by not getting their kids checks and vaccinated and as well getting sick on their own beliefs that it's only making people sicker. You have lost your damn mind. You are slowly killing people and I said before and you're stubborn because of your beliefs and because he said she said controversy that's only making things worse for everybody else who have vaccinated and have done their best to try to fight back against these deadly diseases. As I said on Instagram about a certain post that was sent to Philly D I think that these types of people need to have their own Island in allow them to just do their own thing and of course have that island so comfortable around a bubble so that anything's doesn't spread all over the world. Now the other thing that I want to talk or at least say something about is a whole Kevin Hart thing. All I'm going to say is is that the guy said I'm sorry whether you think that's genuine or not that's up to you but the guy said I'm sorry and he apologized for what he did say . So you can't act like he didn't say it regardless of whether he was being real about it or not he said those words and I can't speak for the entirety of the community but we've all had stuff sent to us and we've never got an apology for any of it. So I think some people need to be big boys and girls pulling pants up and act like they got some sense and just move on just like Kevin said he's moved on and he's on the other things. I don't think there's any reason to dehumanize him or to ruin his hard work over an apology that he made multiple times. I mean he's only human even though he's a celebrity you still just no different than everybody else we all make mistakes but as long as we're willing to accept apologize for them and move forward that's the only way we're going to get better at this thing.

They probably thought it was funny, which is undoubtedly poor judgement, but come on in the long run it does nothing to hurt the child and is just weird. Overall I dont get the big deal- there are so many parents out there who do worse things to their kids.

Someone should not have to apologize for something they did or said 10 years ago, some people can change drastically in just 3 years. They just have to say that was a long time ago, I've changed since then, explain how you have changed and then just say move on. If you did it last month then yeah apologize and be done with it, but 10 years ago? We were all kids and teens once apon a time and at that age everything is funny. Many people out there love offensive jokes and humor. They can see that its obserd and ridicules and that is what can make it so funny. and some are so triggered by it that they bully and force you in to apologizing everytime you go into the public for past mistakes. Yes, there are SOME bigots out there. Like maybe 5% of the population let's be generous about it. If someone calls you a "faggot" seriously and they mean it as an insult, then yes that's fucked up.

Hello antivaxers out there. As stupid as you may be, your stupidity comes from concern for your child and thus I will respect that. And in recognizing that calling someone stupid is not a very good way to convince them of something, let me start by saying that I admire you for questioning the society around you and trying to understand whether something is truly the way it should be. Often times these contimplations can be important. For instance in the case of politics and human rights. Or now a days, what we hear on the news. It is a healthy practice to not simply trust what you are told, but to investigate on your own and see if something is true. And that's what we as scientists do everyday. We run experiments we look at data, to try and make sense of the world around us, instead of simply stating opinions. And sometimes, our hypothesis is proven wrong. And sometimes it is proven right. So please, take the time to not only read, but understand the principles behind vaccinations. Look at BOTH sides before you make a decision. Because doing so will ultimately be what is best for your kid. Okay bye now, time to get my flu shot.

Although I get it I hate that Phil has to tip toe around his “privilege”. Why does not being oppressed suddenly discount your opinion on certain things. That in itself is oppression. When people of the LGBT community have their opinions discounted because of who they are it is disgusting. So why is it different for people who aren’t part of that community? Just because you aren’t part of a certain space or group doesn’t mean that all your opinions on any matter related to said group should just be ignored or ridiculed. If a gay person has an opinion on a straight issue and they are scolded for it it is rightfully seen as wrong. So why is it different for people with “privilege”?

If you want someone to apologize for something over and over and over again, I believe you're using them to satisfy your needs. You are making those specific people pay for all the crimes and hate that you and other people have endured and that's not fair. He apologized and actively changed. Now you're just being an asshole for bringing it up.
I get it though. When you're that frustrated about how you were/are treated, it makes you blind. Nothing is ever enough but at some point you have to take a seat, sit back and think about who you are actually upset with. That's not a healthy mindset. Change doesnt happen over night unfortunately, so making him apologize isn't suddenly going to make your dad less homophobic or your boss or your senator or whoever. It's actually helping no one and hurting you more in the process.

The burden shouldn't be on people of the LGBTQ+ community to look back through Kevin Harts interviews to find all these apologies he's talking about- the burden should be on Kevin Hart to work to make things better and to prove he really cares about people's feelings and that starts with apologizing, even if you have to do it several times. At this point he cares more about his stance to not apologize than the hurt he has caused gay people and that doesn't seem to reflect his stance that he cares about gay people and doesn't want to hurt the community with his words anymore. He cares more about making a point than he does the feelings of this community.

As a Hispanic member of the LGBTQA+ community, I feel as though Kevin has apologized enough. As others have said in the comments, the more you harass and nitpick his apologies, the less sincere he's going to be. He's apologized. He's changed. He's moved on. To me, the concern is more focused on how many more celebrities are we going to pick apart because of past tweets despite said tweets not being their view or behaviour today? This controversy no longer, to me, is about his apologies; it's mob mentality. I have to agree with Kevin in that in order for people to be equal, we have to let them change. But that's just my standpoint on the issue, if you can even still call it that.
