My first smartphone was a Windows phone, and I loved it until it died, which was totally my fault. I used it almost every waking hour for over a year and it just curled up its toes and gave it up. unfortunately I couldn't find another one to replace it so I had to go with an Android which I did not like as well. So will not Android died I went looking for new Windows phone and I could not find one. I bought a refurbished Windows phone 1520 I believe and it look great but it shipped with the instructions for the older Windows phones which said to remove the cover from the back to put in the Sim chip and by doing that instead of using the little drawers on the side that I did not notice I destroyed the phone. Again totally my fault but very disappointing, sorry I ordered another one and when it came it was screwed up right out of the box. Unfortunately no one works on Windows phones anywhere in the US that I can find. So I bought a Nokia 6.1 2018 Android phone and I'm currently running a Windows launcher on it. This gives me most of the functionality of a Windows phone with access to the Google store and it's okay but it's still not a Windows phone not by a long shot. Unfortunately due to Microsoft stupidity and economic factors I doubt we will ever see Windows phones coming back which I feel is a true shame because if the applications were there I think it was a much better platform then either iPhones or Androids. It works almost seamlessly with the Windows 10 laptop that I worked with I was just a much nicer interface all the way around. I guess it's just Beta max versus VHS all over again. Bummer. Windows phone Jones, I got a Windows phone Jones, I got a Windows phone Jones oh baby ooooh, oooh. (Sorry, if you don't remember the seventies you probably won't get that last part.;)

that's what happen when you have 1 bad ceo who don't want to listen and don't see the changes...
i believe many in the microsoft voice out that they should create something similar to iphone too when they see iphone
    exactly like what google did...
but if the ceo like this, then their voice probably is shut out...

this happen in many company and organizations...management give bad decisions and employee does not have right to voice...
and that's how they lose millions to billions of dollar because of that...

I have a windows phone and I like the feel, it’s cheap, and I really like the modern look. The issue is there are like no apps and the touchscreen ability is off by a tiny bit which makes it hard to navigate through the phone and scroll correctly. After all the windows phone is a awesome device and is very basic for texting and calling. I’d recommend buying it if you want something simple. 👌

  • Anshuman Jain
    Anshuman Jain 7 days ago

Why windows failed? No it wasn't the limited apps it was because Microsoft wanted to bring windows 10 pc and mobile close, even apple doesn't do that but Microsoft was way to ambitious. That windows 10 mobile os killed windows phone. The OS was buggy, laggy and a complete departure from the quick snappy and colourful windows phone 8.

Windows Phone was never gonna work. Ever since IE6, the spread of awareness about their monopolistic practices, and the bad buzz of the Vista release, MS was seen as "uncool" and a "necessary evil" that people would leave behind if a solid choice that didn't hinder their workflow came along. Apple started growing in "coolness" with each iPod leading up to the iPhone, and then Android came along as an alternative tied to a trusted brand, Google.
I mean, the only reason Windows is still popular is because it is a necessary evil. The less computer-literate don't wanna learn a new system, the casuals are still stuck on XP or 7 memories, 7 became popular because it was "safe", a comfort zone, the gamers and office workstation users NEED it, the big nerds switch to Linux, the trenders and spenders go Apple, and the poor are still using their old XP machines.
The Zune was the first sign nothing MS ever did would be seen as cool ever again.

I miss my Zune. A LOT! My 2007 Zune to this day was far superior to the iPod i use now. The ONLY complaint I have ever had about Zune was the glass harddrive. That's it. And the flash drive of iPod is the ONLY thing better than my Zune. Zune had a better color screen. Better video playback. Better sound quality. AND! (my favorite) Zune also had a built-in FM radio - something that an iPod STILL doesn't have to this day. I don't want to have to find an available WiFi connection, sign in to that connection, STAY WITHIN RANGE OF THAT CONNECTION just to listen to local radio. I want the freedom I had with my Zune where I could just flip the switch and TA-DA! Instant FM radio. And I didn't have to stay in one spot in order to have it. I could continue walking or biking or canoeing or whatever and still listen to my local FM radio stations when I wanted and then flip the switch and go back to my music. BRING BACK THE ZUNE!!!

I don't care whay any of you say. The windows phone was horrible due to the default music app. Adding a playlist is insanely complicated compared to even the most basic mp3 players. You simply can't select one song to add to a playlist, nor can you add a song to an existing playlist. You have to put the songs in the now playing list before you can make a playlist.

Apple draws mainly children and those with a children mindset. Anyone who is educated, travels, or knows tech, goes with android. Mainly because of free source. And to avoid the money trap of apple. It's just a brand. Brand entices poor ppl, and clout chasers. But like I said its not that much of a utility so to a real person its silly. It's a good phone dont me wrong. But it's a money pit. I rather do more w my money than waste it all on petty bs. A regular 10$ fix on a laptop is a 2,000 fix on apple. Even if it's just to connect a single plug. Lmao gtfo

The funny thing. If Microsoft wanted to they could create a whole new phone tomorrow they spend billions like it’s me going to the corner store and pick up some milk. Microsoft should of doubled down and created an app ecosystem. They should of partnered with developers and offered wild incentives if the apps they created organically reached a certain installed user base. The phone should of had true multitasking out the gate just like the desktop version of windows. If they couldnt get youtube then create a competitor to send the message that your not taking "no" for an answer. Totally their fault they had all the resources to force Windows Phone to a success. Failing at mobile is not an option here given that phones are gaining desktop class power and could meet 100% of the needs of many mobile workers with a screen and keyboard or laptop dock for desk duty.
