Wheelies Broke My Harley Dyna! Garage Update, Harley Dyna Issues, Learning Wheelies, Motovlog

  • Today on Jon's Moto Garage I go over why the Harley Davidson Club Style Dyna is out of commission. Unfortunately the wheelie game has really taken its tole on the bike, and I've encountered a few mechanical issues along the way (check engine light, loose nuts and bolts, brake issues, and the list goes on...). I'm also announcing a new project I'll be doing on the channel where we flip our way up from a $3k motorcycle to a $10k motorcycle! Additionally, I do a quick garage update to get everyone up to speed on what's been going on. Enjoy!

Use blue loctite and it will fix your problem. Cruiser is not a stunt bike. Heavy bike by Harley is never intended to do wheelies and the clutch is not designed to handle that much force so that unless you do upgrade your gonna be replacing. :(

    • Jon's Moto Garage
Jon's Moto Garage  3 days ago

Spot on! From the research I did, most of the stunt dudes run stock clutch until it goes out and then they upgrade. I replaced the clutch not too long ago. I always say "different strokes for different folks." I can see why the majority of people wouldn't want to wheelie their harley.

Hahahaha...who would've thought? Although, I'm sure if I took my yamaha bolt out and spent a day trying wheelies, we'd probably run into some similar issues. Lol. Thanks for checking out the video! Ride safe!

Bro. Loctite. Go over ur bike an double check all ur shit. U bought it used. U don’t know what the previous owner had apart. Double nut ur headers. U need a new o2. It is bad from rattling around. They are sensitive to vibration. And if u bought any other clutch than a reklus torq drive, u will regret it. I promise. I’ve ran all sorts of clutch’s over the years. Reklus. It’s easy to pull in. Has crazy holding power. U don’t want a centrifugal lock up. U won’t be Abel to shift during wheelies. Once u get that far. An also look into a kns wheelie bar. It will save ur cases. Good luck bro.

Yo, thanks for all the info/tips! Wish I'd had this before I bought the Barnett clutch plate/kit. All good. I'll hit the reklus on the next run! I'm waiting on a new chain at the moment. Lol.

Damn dude, I was just scrolling through RU-clip and happen to come across this video. Then boom, you throw my name out there. Crazy shit. So I’ve had all of that happen to me before except for the fork brace thing cause I don’t have one. For the seat bolt, little drop of blue loctite fixed that right up, header bolts just gotta be checked mine are always coming loose, rear brake got an air bubble in the line when I pulled the bike up. Not sure what the status of my clutch is lmao, it’s still sending so fuck it. Great vid man, looking forward to more! 🤘🏼

  • GrumpyMudrock
    GrumpyMudrock 2 months ago +1

Nothing rattles off mine.. torque things to spec, use loctite. Seat bolt shouldn't come off either, try a small piece of leather as a washer. Easy to cut a chunk off an old belt. Use the same belt inside the jaws of a good plier and give that seat bolt an extra half turn.

  • Jay S
    Jay S 2 months ago +2

It has nothing to do with wheelies! It is a Harley thing, they rattle and shake A LOT, even with normal riding I've lost all those bolts plus more, you should check all bolts at minimum ever oil change.

    GhostSuccess 2 months ago +1

Halfway through the video but before i forget loll : 1. How do you structure your video, do you always record what you're doing or you plan a script. You seem to have a good framework going :) 2. Try some teflon tape on the bolts like the rear seat to keep the RattleDyna tight haha. 3. Great video!

    • Jon's Moto Garage
Jon's Moto Garage  2 months ago

+GhostSuccess hecks yeah! I'll add it to the list. That's a good idea! Thanks, bro!

+Jon's Moto Garage haha great man! Heres another idea if you need one loll, make a video of what gear you use and what you bring when out riding.

    • Jon's Moto Garage
      Jon's Moto Garage  2 months ago +1

I'll have to try that for the seat, and some lock tight apparently. Lol. Regarding the video structure: Since I have kind of a mixture of vids that I do, it varies a bit. Some I try to do a "one and done" format where I just knock it out in one or two shots. Other videos I build around a compilation of clips that I already have. Sometimes I'll go back after the fact and film the intro and outro after I've gone over the footage and decided what I want to do with it. I have a huge backlog of video ideas, but only about 10% ever make it to production due to time constraints, etc. Lol. So, in short, I usually have an idea in my head of what I want to do, but it typically ends up being something else once I sit down and start working. I don't write out scripts, but I think over what kind of message or information I want to get across. Sorry, not a real concise answer, but that's my process -- all over the place. Hope that helps somewhat.

Hey mate put a spring washer on the seat bolt to stop it from coming loose if you can't fit a spring washer there use lock tight on thread air in line could be your issue it could also be a leaking seal might only leak when it gets hot anyway bro good luck and have a good one.

    • Jon's Moto Garage
Jon's Moto Garage  2 months ago

Thanks for the insights, brother! I'll have to try the spring washer and lock tight. Once I get the new clutch in, I'll get back and see how the brakes are doing. Thanks for watching!

+Jon's Moto Garage . I agree definitely easier because of the sport to figuration but on all 3 of my GSXR'S I was fixing the frame swapping out crash bars Chains Those cheap headers. Breaking pegs peg mounts snapping headset bearings. Then the frustrations of fixing aluminum frame at the frame slider mount positions. Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhh. Now it's time for my Harley to bear witness.
