The truth is no one can accurately forecast the timing of the next recession, but a downturn is part of a normal economic cycle. It is important that we are doing all we can to withstand the fallout from a crashing economy. Whether the storm is on the horizon or not, it’s always a good time to make sure you’re financially secure.

American and allied military assets world-wide. The profit can be used to buy
European and other ports out of foreclosure by China, and other useful chores.
Moreover, many other countries might be encouraged by America's example to stand up to China's
unfair predatory and criminal commercial practices. The "trade war"
has never been strictly between China and the US, but rather between China and
the rest of the world. The same is true of freedom of navigation on the high seas.
China is making itself a pariah.
The Chinese people might conclude their rulers have lost the "Mandate of Heaven”.

The world and US economies are already in recession since 2008. The excessive borrowing by companies, consumption fueled by debt and uncontrolled QE by central banks worldwide prevent the business cycle to oscillate properly. Business down-cycle clear up the excess and the inefficient economic units so that new units can emerge in the up-cycle. With digital technology, debt will grown even bigger. Words like trillion and quadrillion used to describe stars and galaxy in astronomy. Now they are common in finance and banking. So global recession may not be a bad thing after all... compare to military war.

If tomorrow I walk into a store and I can't get the made in China shirt for $10 I will by the $12 one that's made in the US, but aren't talking shirts here right CNN? China's biggest exports to the US are mechanical and technological. So the manufacturing industries will now have to go back to the US soil. AND that is the trickle down to the average citizen. Better job opportunities. So you don't need to go get a college degree to get a poorly paid entry level position. I live in a big city that has one factory. They make railroad parts there and employ 108 people. The only time there is a job opening is when someone dies. My husband works the and makes almost twice what I make. No education, not even a GED and started with great pay and awesome benefits. Sits all day next to a machine and makes sure nothing goes offline aka trolls the internet and watches Netflix for 8 hours a day. I have a BBA a management position that I had to work up to and will hopefully make as much as he does one day. I also have 14 more years of paying $308/month for my college loans and my job is super stressful.
The NAFTA deal eliminated tariffs and that's when we started to head into the recession. Historically tariffs have been imposed to bolster domestic economy, by forcing production of local goods, consumption of local services and utilization of domestic resources. High tariffs only hurt countries with limited resources (small countries). And I agree with him, the trade war is a disaster for world economy, but not the U.S . We'll be just fine. Also, we literally have a money tree. That's why we're always in the middle East fighting for it and protecting it. Or did you really think that we were there to protect the local's human rights lol?!?! We didn't have a problem with them beheading their gays, oppressing their women or abusing their children until they started to interfere with our exploitation of their domestic resources.
And why is he referring to the continent of Africa like it's one country and using it as an example of failure? Rhetoric like that is what makes people think it's a super poor archaic place. There are very prosperous and technically advanced countries there. Their economic practices and strategies differ from the unsuccessful countries there. Tariffs hurt countries of any size. The US will lose out on cheaper goods and services. Plus all the skills and knowledge that people from other countries have.
Most economists agree free trade is a win-win for everyone. I don't know how anybody who supports capitalism or free markets support the trade war.
Here's what I'll watch: "The War Monger's Index" of defense stocks. Keep an eye on those, so, you'll know when your a$$ will be in uniform and your soul will be in harm's way. It's only a wild a$$ed guess at this point, but I think that the rich will soon be playing their "you take the bullet; while, we take the cash" game. There are countless clones of microchips and various electronics components that they manufacture without paying royalties to the companies that developed them. This us a well-known fact and it's where the money to invent new things comes from. Its one of the reasons that they can make things so cheaply. No R&D costs or royalties to worry about. Then there's their policy of devaluing their currency and government sponsorship of certain businesses. Steel and tires come to mind. Then flood another country with goods produced below cost to destroy their competing domestic industry. Remember those Chinese tires for $35 a pop? I do. Then you have to consider that they already have tariffs on American goods and tight import restrictions and limits. Nobody is bothered by that though. So long as the United States doesn't respond then it's all good. and just because somebody falls for a scam doesn't alleviate responsibility from the scammer. I have equal disdain for paypay loan and title pawn companies. Either way, China has been engaging in very shady practices for decades, and it's high time someone called them on it. It's time that the United States stop being so stupid that it allows itself to be abused and taken advantage of. By your own assessment, that is the correct action. China alone is responsible for the situation now, and it (you?) must play by the rules if it (you?) wants to stay in the game.
