"Will you LISTEN TO ME, PARKER!?! SHUT UP!" She is usually very cold and calm throughout these films. That fury in her voice was very convincing. Like she's trying her best not to lose her mind along with Lambert.

These characters represent what's left -- the others died -- of the amalgamation of the human psyche: the calm and intelligent, the strong and fearless, the sympathetic and scared and the apathetic and selfish. We can be most of these or some of these but we are all at least one of these.

Some of the best character actors in the history of cinema... brilliant, naturalistic dialogue between pros. A totally convincing portrayal of people who work in dangerous conditions, under high stress .... I love it!

I wish Parker and Lambert made it out alive with Ripley. They were both some of my favorite characters in the franchise tbh.

Lambert = worst character! I fucking hated her, she is the only reason I hated the movie! Why couldn't she been the first one to die! Did she even do anything useful? Like at all? Probably not because she was such a BITCH! Movie became way better when she finally DIED!

They really sold it. Along with Ridley's direction and quality production values, they took what could have been a very silly movie and turned it into a classic!

    Plot Contrivance
Ripley tells Lambert that life raft will only hold three when there are four crew members remaining (out of the original seven). Since the early part of the 20th century having enough lifeboats for crew members and passengers has been the law. It is exceptionally unlikely that spacefaring crews would sign up for a mission knowing that in an emergency at least some of them would have to be sacrificed or sacrifice themselves because there weren't enough lifeboats.

In the novelization the other life boat was damaged when they landed on Acheron.

Ha, ha I watched the film again last night and I was thinking the same thing. It makes no sense really especially when there was only seven crew members on the job.

This is one of cinema's great scenes.
The scene where Ellen Ripley takes control.
And it's partially improvised .. so that Ripley needs to calm Parker down as she explains the plan.
It feels like a very uncomfortable documentary, rather than a movie with actors in it.
Every scene between the crew-members feels real - and the way the movie is shot makes you think that you are also onboard the Nostromo, and facing a terrifying creature.

That was a good move by Ridley Scott to have parker rile up Ripley, in this scene the remaining crew are debating on what to do before the Alien gets to them, not knowing yet they have a traitor in their mist; Ash.

It’s ironic because the lifeboat was the actual best option considering Bishop is an Android that plans on staying with the ship and the alien obviously. He should have just let them all leave and he’d satisfy his objectives.

Out of the two women I found Angela Cartwright to be the better actress . and I wish she had got the part of ripley Sigourney Weaver is a complete and utter pussy in real life she dislikes guns in real life . and there are out takes after out takes of her avoiding getting slapped from Angela Cartwright . who was getting fed up of the retakes in the end it took about 7 retakes its on the ALIEN DOCUMENTARY Angela finally laid that slap hard on Weaver out of frustration ofter so many failed attempts because Sigourney Weaver kept moving her head to avoid being slapped . Angela made weaver cry and Angela smiled about that on the documentary nice one Angela I was sorry to see you killed and that final scream of yours was CHILLING !!
