MIND BLOWING Butter LOBSTER & FISH HEAD Curry! SEAFOOD Tour of Jakarta Indonesia

  • Published on Aug 23, 2018
  • I LOVE seafood and while in Jakarta, everyone was telling me that I MUST try the lobster, crab and fish head curry. I had fish head curry in Singapore and it was pretty good but the fish head curry here in Jakarta was the BEST I've EVER HAD!
The fish was the most tender and succulent and the curry was the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. Also the lobster and pepper crab I had ranks among some of the best seafood I've ever devoured. The place was pricier than most other restaurants in Jakarta but the seafood was DELICIOUS.
    The places I went:
    Medan Baru www.zomato.com/jakarta/medan-baru-pasar-baru
    3. Sate Khas Senayan (assorted Indonesian food) for the chicken satay
    4. Layar Seafood www.zomato.com/jakarta/layar-seafood-meruya

Yes Indras Gabriel Ghosh and Erdin Sjhr ,the Indonesian culinary is under promoted .......so does the tourism .......take for example the Toraja culture (where they a unique way of funeral ,and keeping the ashes of the dead in puppets ,and putting them along side other family members puppet in cliff carved ) .....there are lots of unique cultures and natures in Indonesia ,which is very interesting but less promoted or advertised ..........

There's something about little foods that I love. Like the pigeon (which to be fair I actually haven't had yet) or something like crayfish, little crabs, or sections of chicken with the bone in like the wings and drumstick. It's just really satisfying going through the piece and trying to get all the meat off it. I guess it's just like a scavenger hunt!

you dont seem to polish off the dishes but just take a few bites and call it quits. but yes, you to always try to make it a point that you eat a lot and have a bagful of stomach which may not be the case really. be original mikey, coz that works all the time, you may wink a few times but you get caught up later on. and dont whine..

If you come back to Jakarta make sure you try Soto Tangkar, a beef soup with lots of coconut milk and spices... the famous one is located in Tanah Tinggi, Senen, Jakarta Pusat. After that, maybe you should try Warung Tegal (maybe Warteg Warmo? Kinda forget the name). For Chinese Indonesian or Peranakan Foods you should try Angke... have a long live and journey, Mike!!!

Why Indonesian food completely underrated especially for american?. If we look in the history, not many Indonesian doing migration to US like Vietnamese, Pinoy, Chinese, Korean etc in the past so it's make Indonesian food not as famous as another asian food in the US. Instead being just a migrant peoples to US which mean bring the whole family to do migrants, many Indonesian choice to be migrant worker to east asia & middle east which mean only one or couple person that will go temporarily, so this things make Indonesian food demand isn't high enough even maybe its more delicious than another asian food in the US.
