I first heard this song when I was 4 and I liked this before I heard it from King and I. This version Is very mellow and relaxing.

    Getting to know you
Getting to know all about you
    Getting to like you
Getting to hope you like me
    Getting to know you
Putting it my way but nicely
You are precisely my cup of tea
    Getting to know you
Getting to feel free and easy
    When I am with you
Getting to know what to say
    Haven’t you noticed
    Suddenly I’m bright and breezy
Because of all the beautiful and new
    Things I’m learning about you
    Day by day
    (whistling)
    Getting to know you
Getting to feel free and easy
    When I am with you
Getting to know what to say
    Haven’t you noticed
    Suddenly I’m bright and breezy
Because of all the beautiful and new
    Things I’m learning about you
    Day by day
    Day by day

He just sang"Shall We Dance?" from The King and I with the Boston Pops! He is versatile and so very talented. Sang many of these pop songs for the kids on Sesame Street. He is the BOMB!

Someone, I'm sure, used to say the same thing to Billy Shakes or Eddie Poe. At first, i thought of it as complementary. Now, however, recognizing when someone sacrifices their life for a seemingly whimsical reason, like writing poetry, stories or songs (like James) and how much i depend on their decision which helps buttress against the sheer indifference of life, I then take care to not express that sentiment. That is just me.

This is a brilliant cover of a classic showtune. I am in a production of THE KING AND I, doing multiple roles in the Uncle Tom sequence, playing Phra Alack and also singing in the ensemble, in September at the Congress Theatre in Cwmbran and it's always great to hear other people's interpretations of the songs in it! Timeless.

    Getting to know you,
Getting to know all about you.

I have always loved this song and recently I met this sweet, endearing young lady and didn't dream she would want to be with someone like me but she does. I sent this to her to let her know how I feel. I couldn't find the words to say it so I let Sweet Baby James do it for me. It worked!!!

I had the CD "For Our Children" when I was very young. I am now a music major and when I sing this, my mom cries... Then again, so do I, if the mood's right.
If you could post Little Richard's "Itsy Bitsy Spider" from the same CD, I would be most grateful!

I love James Taylor --but his rendering of this song is not the best....he sounds "tired", melancholic and monotonous....all the more so if one considers that the original tune is a beaming and upbeat one.
