So if anything should FAIL in my workstation I can go to a local retailer and replace it in 1-2 hours time with a standard component or does corsair do this job for me!? Just asking from a company standpoint that wants to make sure pcs are up within 4 hours after a hardware failure.

As a gaming pc intending buyer I understand that price wise, what you get is not much more expensive than getting the parts separately?
Watch Linus' video about the previous model.
With this pre-built system you get assembly, a surprisingly sleek and as it seems well built computer, guarantee, and oh yeah... NO RGB DISCO all over.
However it might be a good idea to introduce mid priced models as well.

For the i160, the parts cost about $3000-3500 cad, so therefore the case is worth about $250-500 and a profit margin of $1k? No thanks... I simply built my own and saved tons of money.

  • wisico640
    wisico640 4 months ago

Who buys that 😅 Their main audience is their existing component buyers and they are already loosing them because of the costy prices; then they release an "entry line" workstation pc for "only" 3000$-5000$ 😂

  • Ervin
    Ervin 4 months ago

Yes, it's a lot of money. But I wonder, how do the prices compare if you build it your self using a regular case (nothing too fancy)?
Is the difference in price huge? i.e. how much 'extra' do you pay for their case and it being pre built?

This is the direction PC cases need to go! I've been waiting for years for PC cases to approach the look of Mac hardware. We've been stuck with the tower/midi-tower design shape for 30 years when most systems these days need an M.2 SSD & WiFi. There is very little need for the desk volume consumed. It's a shame they have so few SKUs that are so highly specc'd or I'd buy one in a snap.
An i9-9700k w/ 1TB SSD, 32 GB RAM and RTX 2080Ti in a small clean form factor with a clean iCue build is perfect for most gamers. Add in the USB-C Gen2 support (hopefully this includes decent power as well) and a good sound footprint and you have a Mac killer.
Small, quiet, stylish, and powerful. I wish they would sell the damn case! I'd be happy to pay $600 just for the damn case and move my existing system into it!

for the i140 you can buy a few things extra if you build your own pc,
you can actually have DDR4 3400 mhz 32gb instaid of 2666mhz, instaid of a 2080 you can actually have a 2018ti, you can have 2 nvme 1gb ssd`s and 2 2gb normal ssd`s instaid of 1 480GB NVMe SSD and a 2TB HDD for what this computer cost extra
i don`t know about you but i would build your own pc, corsair is making so much profit on this one (and yes i know about the cost of te assemblement and R&D to make the custom components) but the fact that its adding up the cost when you can have more bang for your buck....
