Glad to see that we're actually being shown even a glimpse of a starter's final evolution before release, I don't recall the last time that's happened but it's a welcome change. Maybe it'll help incentivize people to choose new starters instead of their favorites based on the new designs or typings.

@BuBBleGodAnimation During the airing of Diamond and pearl? Around 12 but idk I just enjoy the the art style of the older seasons of Pokémon the expressions and animations on sun and moon just seem very childish to me

I didn’t think samurott could get any cooler but it did! Decidueye looks fantastic as the new look really suits it’s type and as for typhlosion, well if it has some sort of new effect replacing the flames I will be seriously impressed
I remember watching the gameplay trailer looking a bit lacklustre on the experience the game offered, however this trailer showed so much more of the world of Hisui that I’m finally super excited for this!

I haven't felt this feel for a decade since I started my first Pokémon Journey in Unova back when I was 11 years old. Back when I chose my first ever Pokémon partner Oshawott.
Now it's time to for a whole new experience with that Pokémon. And unlike my original Samurott, I will be nicknaming it. For once again, this Pokémon is proof of just how far I've come. And just how much I've evolved.

It's funny how it goes around for me because I have consistently liked water type starters, except in White version 2 when I chose Tepig. Now I am back just to choose Oshawatt

@Woomy Nation I have no clue what the stats or shinies look like, I just saw the typings and pngs on the Pokemon Team Planner. I like the design and one of my favorite Pokemon is Breloom, and I never had issues with the Grass/Fighting typing so I don't really mind tbh. Never noticed that Samurott was a special attacker, but I've only played through Unova once and didn't really look at stats back then.
Not really a fan of the Hisuian forms of Decidueye or Typhlosion but Samurott's looks pretty cool. Guess I'm going with Oshawott for this game.

Rowlet was always adorable to me, and while I liked decidueye(?) I'm unbelievably excited for a maybe more primal looking version!

This is by far the most secretive the Pokemon Company has been with a game. Spoilers from street date broken releases not withstanding, they've really been playing with their cards close to the vest. I'm so excited for Legends Arceus!
Edit to Add: I'm honestly more frustrated that I had to explain these things to more people than I'd like to admit so I'll clarify it all here. First, when I say "this is the most secretive Pokemon Company has been" I'm referring to the style of OFFICIAL MARKETING they have done for PLA. They haven't revealed as much information about it as they've done with past games, likely due to fan complaints about the info-dump with Sword and Shield.
Second, yes there are leaks of the game. However leaks from impatient players made possible by greedy retailers who broke street date DO NOT COUNT AS PART OF OFFICIAL MARKETING. This was something not influenced by Nintendo or the Pokemon Company, and anyone who knows how protective Nintendo is of their IP is aware that they'll be dishing out fines to those retailers who broke street date and will likely brick the consoles of players who posted spoilers in the coming weeks.
And third, notwithstanding is a word that means "in spite of", "although" and or "regardless". I actually spelled it wrong because I still tend to write it as two words, i.e "not withstanding", rather than the whole word its supposed to be. And if you look it up on Bing or borrow your parent's dictionary you'll see the word notwithstanding sitting nice and cozy there. So when I said "spoilers from the street date broken releases notwithstanding" I meant that in spite of that happening the Pokemon Company has maintained an air of secrecy with the game. Now I personally avoid spoilers because I like to be surprised. But I can respect that some folks don't care and will look at them. Live and let live. Sadly not many of you seem to want to do that. Hence why I had to make this edit to explain things.
As the meme goes, I'm not mad...just disappointed.
@Aran Leite I can't say how for sure they'll handle the guilty parties who leaked PLA early. I can only assume what they'll do and gave my own guesses. It's something a lot of people do - so why give me the third degree over it?
1. They don't seem that protective when it comes to leaks, this has been happening for at least 8 years with every single game
2. No they won't brick player's consoles, that has never happened. In 3DS their *save* was banned, from that specific game, and only if they went online before release. Switch already bans users with CFW
@Aran Leite I never said that they don't. In addition to that leaks aren't apart of the official marketing and happen against the company's wishes/plans, which is why I said notwithstanding. It means "in spite of".
@Great Jaggi For me, whether or not I look at a leak depends on how much I'm interested in the medium the leak pertains to. If it's something I'm not interested in I'll look. And if it's something I am interested in and want to be surprised by I'll steer clear.

I already know the final evolutions (I needed to see them in order to help myself choose, and there’s two I’m torn between) but I love this way of teasing them for those who don’t want to spoil themselves.
A lot of people apparently don't like Hisuian Decidueye, but I really love it! Yes, Alolan Decidueye is cooler, but I don't think HD is terrible. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was partially based on a style of Japanese clothing with that straw hat. I don't know the exact name, but it's pretty cool!

The straw hat is called Awigasa (if i pronounce it correctly). It was a very common hat, due to being easy to make and being a perfect protection against both rain and very bright sunlight, so it was worn by virtually everyone. Farmers wore it for weather protection while out in the field. Archers loved it for being able to aim without getting blinded by bright sunlight (That is why Hisuan Decidueye is wearing it) and it was also one of the basic essential tools for ninja since it allowed them to perfectly blend in and being inconspicuious while gathering intel/delivering messages.

I was definitely expecting the Hisuian Starters to get new forms to their future counterparts but I love how despite them confirming it, they don’t fully show the Pokemon themselves and just shows the silhouettes!

Trailers take time to develop and get ready to release. Businesses come up with this stuff months in advance. They wanted to tease people and give them a surprise, and not show as much like fans use to complain they did. Not their fault some chinese dude gave a Twitter attention seeking cry baby the info or that people would break sell date.

This was a fantastic trailer. My excitement for the game was dwindling after seeing some of the leaks, but this made me even more excited for the game than I initially was. The world looks insane and complex, and the music makes me think of DPPt style but remade for a different time. Can't wait!

I've explored the first area completely and it really isn't impressive at all. It's better than the Swoooosh wild area for sure, but that bar is basically on the ground.

I really like that we don't actually know what they look like, we just know they exist. It's going to be cool coming across them naturally, will feel like playing Red and Blue again, ignoring what these cute creatures become (Hopefully this time I won't take Kadabra to level 100 thinking that's when it evolves...)

Don't worry, you can now immediately evolve any Pokémon that requires a trade by using a new evolutionary item called a Linking Cord. Instead of having to trade with another trainer, you use the Linking Cord as you would an evolution stone. Pokémon that required being traded while holding a specific item can now evolve by simply using said item on them instead. The held item mechanic and abilities are not present in PLA.

I would've loved a hisuian unown with an actual moveset. The model could be several unown swarming around like in the movie. Give it a unique ability that makes hidden power always deal super effective damage or something.
That'll be the Solaceon Ruins, then. The mural at the bottom of the ruins in D/P/Pt says "Friendship: All lives touch other lives to create something anew and alive". I wonder if we'll find out their significance now?

Looks fun yet part of me wish you can have a way to retexture or add new models like more trees or berries bush. Since it looks a bit rush or soulless at parts but the gameplay could make up for it.

@Novice I don't think that's entirely accurate. Both Scizor and Kleavor are in the game. You need a special ore to evolve Scyther into Kleavor. It can't be a matter of Scizor is a better evolution because Kleavor actually has some pluses to it regarding its BST and typing.

I'm curious what others think when it releases. I've tried an early copy and it's different, some good some questionable choices. Is this the future of Pokémon is what I'm wondering about.
I’m excited for the anime. The latest season on Netflix (US) showed alolan ninetales in sinnoh, and talked about how they’re looking to figure what Pokémon are, and where they actually came from. Which I assume was intentionally done in sinnoh, to hint at what might be in store in legends arceus. I’m excited to finally get some answers, and can’t wait for more games like this to continue giving those answers, and perhaps create more questions too!

I chose to see the leaks since I want to know everything and be able to plan my team and my favorite starter is definitely Samurott. Its red and black color scheme looks so cool and I love its whole demon slayer/ronin aesthetic and its new Water/Dark typing is good and its signature move, Ceaseless Edge looks cool and it is very busted

Man this game looks dope. Hopefully it's a prototype for an actual MMO! Pokemon sorely needs one of those. Why Nintendo hasn't done one yet for the franchise is a mystery beyond belief.

I wonder what the in game explanation for the hisiuan forms of the starters will be. I remember then saying he was a traveling professor who brought them from other regions, so what makes Hisui so special that Pokemon (who it's their first time ever being in this region) suddenly get new evolution? Even in wild animals who evolve into different species/subspecies/regional localities it takes more than one actually breeding generation to show it (even if the genotypes are already being affected the phenotypes would almost never change this rapidly except in some invertebrates. Even the change in the Darwin's Finches after the drought was slight, a few millimeters of beak width).
Edit: Jesus guys, I know the game is only 3 days away, but don't spoil it for people who have been avoiding spoilers and only watching official reveal trailers. You're just dicks for the sake of being so at that point.
Pokemon isn't known for good lore, a majority of it is left to the imagination because there simply is no answer in the first place
At least with the case of Scyther’s evolution, that’s cause of a mineral that used to be abundant but is now rare due to over-mining! I wonder if a lot of the evolutions have something to do with difference in abundance of resources? (Maybe not tho. I know Basculegion has something to do with multiple basculin being angry that one of their friend basculin died 😭😭)

@Darke Exelbirth Nope, these pokemons were brought over from their original regions, alola, johto, and unova. It's explained in the pokedex entries that they evolved due to the region itself. Samurott is the least explained simply stating it's form is a product of evolution in Hisui. Typhlosion's form is heavily influenced by Mt Coronet. Decidueye's form is explained that it stores air in its feathers and uses it as insulation to protect itself from the extreme cold. Decidueye is adapting to the environment, Typhlosion's evolution was influenced by the environment (not necessarily adapting), Samurott's explanation is pretty weak though. Just said its a rare form of Samurott, maybe like a mutation that caused Samurott to change its form.
