  • I wanted to make a video to compare both the 103CI Harley Davidson Twin Cam motor in the 2015 Road Glide against the new 107CI Milwaukee 8 motor in the 2018 Road Glide. We did a few highway pulls in Mexico to see which one is faster. Make sure you browse the channel and subscribe, as always, thanks for watching!

It’s not a stage 2 it’s a stage 1 upgrade, for it to be a stage 2 you need to upgrade the cam...

I ride inline 4s. I would never ride a Harley but I respect their riders and Harley as an American based company. Harleys are not fast, but this video is a Harley vs Harley video, not one of those silly Harley vs Busa vids. Don't talk smack about 2 guys lining up 2 of the bikes they like riding. Just because they run lower numbers than sport bikes doesn't mean they wouldn't smoke most street based vehicles.

The Milwaukee 8 motor has far more power than the Twin Cam. That 107 should annihilate that 103 with ease not sure whats going on here maybe the rider. I have 3 Twin Cam bikes all built and a 114 FXDR and the FXDR has an incredible amount of power, torque just ridiculous especially when you hit gears. My Screamin Eagle CVO 110 is the closest Twin Cam with gear driven cams to that motor and I will leave it in the dust. Theeee pull of the M8 is crazy compared to the Twin Cam . This winter Im putting a cam in the bike it's supposed to really make the M8 come alive some pipes then down the line Im sure I will put the S&S 128in doesn't need it but the need for speed is a drug !!

Loved my 103, but my new 107 is even better. Smoother with more torque. Glad I upgraded. Am considering a stage 2 down the road.

I like my 103, 2014 FLHR. Its basically got a stage II as well I think with a cam (I bought it used). Lookin to bump up to 110 Tire Shredder. 126 HP sounds good.

My 15 RG with 103 TC ,cams ,2into 2 Magna flow, big cobra intake ,PV tune I venture to say would smoke that 107 and get close to 50 mpg all day long. 95 HP ,112 ft lbs tq.

I have a stock 88ci on an 03 dyna defender (this police model has no upgrade at all)
I have 2013's heritage softail and street bob. Street bob ran great with thundermax tuner (before i bought it off a friend) HD shop pulled it and put on of theres. I am not impressed at all with 103. It has no 1st gear pull out power at all. In higher rpms it just plateaus. And the 103's run extremely hot. I run straight 50w lucas for summer and i die at a stop light or traffic. Also they have the fuckn compensator issue again as 88 did. Not all but when u end up with one, u will know. I replaced 3 complete charging systems then caught on to a rotor for every season. This year i tried something different so hopefully my oem rotor holds. Otherwise ill have to buy a $450 upgraded aftermarket system. If the 103's start this shit, ill be needing a 2nd job. I love HD's however they use too many components then sell u an upgrade. The price of a new bike, use the better part. And if u want a tuner that works and not SE bs, no warrenty. Those pipes, no warranty. Fkn cunt corporation ran by white collar liberal fags instead of blue collar men who can start a harley and rip it down the road. All goin to shit. Im working on an EVO and goin all EVO and carbs

I have a 103 road king with 57h cams .30 head gasket & zippers 1.8 CNC port heads dynoed at 108 hp & 116 TQ. Also have a 81 shovelhead low rider with a 96 inch stroker with lots of goodies that will smoke my road king and both those bikes. Power to weight ratio 😆

I had a stage 5 kit in my 103. I got taken out by an asshat driver. I have a 107 now stage 2 torque kit. My 103 had a good bit more power.. I will eventually get to stage 3 or 4 in this bike. but it was all i could afford at the time based off my insurance payout.

Problem with the M8 is the loss of engine warranty if you upgrade with non Screaming Eagle parts.

    • Wade Hermes
      Wade Hermes 2 months ago

I just bought a 2019 Street Glide Special and specifically asked this question. There was a company wide notice sent from the HD Motor company that you can use non screaming eagle parts for your stage 1 as long as you use a screaming eagle tuner. If you use a non screaming eagle tuner, THAT will void your warranty.

  • Johnny Turbo
Johnny Turbo 3 months ago +2

4ci is not much at all in the grand scheme of things. At that point the lighter bike and rider wins. Those are only stage 1.. with that it all depends on how well the exhaust, intake and tune does for that bike. What's each bikes dynoed out to now? Maybe the 103ci made more power do to a better performance upgrade selection and tune? Either way 4ci is not really a significant difference to make a whopping difference. With that, the M8 will run cooler, smoother and when you both get into stage 2 or higher is when you will see the 107ci start to really show its gains.

Great video good footage.. interesting results. Thanks a lot for this video..
Nonetheless as we know it's the rider ... that would make the difference as to who's faster... in turms of ripping around the twisties or blasting around the coast !
The twin cam and the 6 speed are a great combination that's for sure.
    Is the m8 better ?
    Time will tell !!

@Chandler Craythorn I'm not listening to all the hype I don't own a m8 but have 2 friends who just had to go running to the dealership and get them one rather than keeping their twin cam bikes that had alot of money spent on them. Both persons mentioned have been to the dealership several times ... oil pumps replaced along with several other parts and both are now currently having new power plants put into their bikes that are under warranty due to the oil sumping problem which is only one of the several problems that they have been dealing with

The rider of the bike makes a big deal as well when it comes to a race. You can have a tad bit slower vehicle and still win the race when the driver/rider is much better. With the test you performed to do it correctly you would have did 6 total races with you two switching bikes after the first 3. That would leave a negative number for each bike and each rider on a specific bike. Just saying.

The 107 might be losing overall power through the curve with that exhaust. I heard they do best with just slip ons. I can’t speak for the touring chassis 103 but I had a Dyna 103 and went to a 2018 street glide special. It wouldn’t even be a race. The m8 would destroy it. Especially 60-110mph. The 103 didn’t have much go after 90mph. It can go further but it would take a while or a down hill. The 107 just goes right through it. Both bikes were 100% stock. I would say the 103 would need intake, exhaust, and cams to keep up with a stock 107 up top.

This is just one of those things that if you just have to have the newest and baddest bike you can afford just do it! I have a 06 Electra glide Ultra Classic with a big bore 95 SE Cams VH ovals with true duels and mapped with a Power Commander well I have no problem keeping up with and even pulling on most of my buddies newer bikes so I just can't justify starting over with a new bike and making all those payments again. It's so nice to have a beautiful older bike that most people think is still fairly new. So keep those old H-D's clean and running good and you can enjoy them for many years to come.

I just bought my first Harley. Salesman tried to wow me with the power bs. I told him look. Listen theres nothing you have on the floor or in the building that would impress me power wise. That's not the reason I'm buying. I bought my bike to cruise. If you want real HP and speed dont go harley. I've been drag racing all my life. Harley is not fast period.

    • Thomas Marchese
Thomas Marchese 13 days ago +1

Darren Forgette a jap bike turns 3x the rpms of a Harley. That’s why they make so much power. And they don’t weigh anything. Harley’s are not better than sport bikes. Sport bikes aren’t better than Harley’s. Harley’s aren’t motor gp bikes. But a Harley with legends or ohlins shocks is fucking fun in the “twisties” a sport bike is not a cruiser but you can ride one 400 miles. Or both can be and do get ridden daily. I know a lot of people that own both simultaneously. I’ve owned and ridden plenty of both. Ride what you like and let others do the same. A Harry might be crap for your 18 year old who wants to do 200 miles an hour. But if you’re 45 and have a bad back or something that Harley is going to be way more comfortable and still be fun to ride. Because say what you want. Harley’s cherish to sport bikes on torque. Sport bikes are fast cause they’re light. If they weighed as much as a Harley it would take forever to get up to speed. Most people who talk shit are just running their mouth. If you put your ass in the seat of both. AND respect all motorcycles for their intended purpose. Then the only answer is “idc if you ride a klrsport touring thing, a brand new tricked bagger, a club style dyna, an r1, a Ducati, idc. I care more about how well the bike is built for its purpose). Make sense? People talk shit but only have half a clue. Maybe the people who ride bikes should leave the numbers to the pros. Ride what you like, build it to do the best it can at its intended purpose and let others do the same. If anyone feels the need to dog other for what they ride, especially with half educated reasonings than that persons opinion isn’t worth shit anyway. Professionals remember that every individual bike is built for a specific purpose. To compare an American v twin cruiser to a sport bike and try to determine which is a better bike all around is absolutely ridiculous and irrelevant right from the get go. But y’all can argue like a bunch of 18 year olds. Big boys will be building bikes for specific purposes. Building to be the best they can be at that purpose and respecting everyone’s personal preference and riding style.

The M8 guy needs to stop letting off the throttle between shifts. He would've gained another bike length. The bike is very well calibrated, Harley did a good job in this department. I have pro shifters on my sport bikes and my 2019 RGU shift speed is not to far behind. Just hold it wide and shift!
