Since our thermal and power consumption numbers are very different from other publications, here's some clarification on our board settings:
    -Multi-core enhancement: Disabled
    -SVID behavior: "Intel Fail-Safe" / Intel's default
    -XMP: Enabled
-All power duration and limit settings default
    -Core multiplier at defaults
    -Core voltages at defaults
Cooler: Corsair H115i w/IC Graphite thermal pads
The performance numbers we got were double-checked against Intel's engineers, and they were in line; This suggests that our thermal tests are indicative of stock performance (with motherboard vendor optimizations disabled). We did *not* ask Intel about their thermal or power consumption results.

Before the 2019 CES my complicated long story for a new SAGER NP1975 17.3" gaming notebook.I am very happy for i7-8700K Z370 CHIP SET GTX 1070 now the complicated bull shit first off GTX 1070 retired I paid for out of stock and retired graphic card. JUST GREAT I got RTX 2070 to take its place then the all hell break loose I have to wait to the end of JAN 28 2019 for the launch UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHAAAAAAAA! more UGGGGGGGGGGGGHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHGAAAAAAAAAAAA to come. two days after launch i7-8700K is retired so that is one other thing I am not getting and NP9175 is also retired and its replacement NP9176-G2 I was supopse to pay for a upgrade for i7-97000K that I did not pay for. is that a upgrade ? that is the first time a upgrade is yes and no at the same time. hyper threading 8 not 16 I have to pay for more upgrade. the price to upgrade from i7- 8700k to i9 9900k is $150.00 that I cannot afford. However it was upgraded to i7-9700K with no charge the price for upgrade from i7-9700K to i9-9900K ia $100.00 so I paid. since its a OEM I cannot get the fancy blue case that comes with the retail CPU. I like that clear blue case. oh well. I upgraded my DDR4 to two sticks for $10.00then upgrade $65.00 more for faster 3000 MHz 2400MHz will not cut it... I removed all storage devices and got it at NEWEGG with sales tax

ALL the world says AMD is better: because its price. Everybody hates *intel* because it is expensive. Everybody acclaims AMD is better 'cause it is cheap. Everybody rejects *intel* because it is expensive. iF the prices between them were similar, all the comments and "experiences" would be different. Along all the human history , the better things have more price are more expensive, never the good things have been cheaper.

    EVOLICIOUS 20 days ago

Yeaaaaa, this video is completely BS when it comes to VR. i9-9900k for running a high-end VR kit, super-sampled and using a 2080ti, you are gonna need all the CPU headroom you can get, especially if you are doing wireless which will require a few more threads since it utilizes a 1x pci-e 3.0 lane.
Now that the Valve Index is out, i9-9900k is the way to go. Good enough to future proof for the next few years.

    • Bax S
      Bax S 22 days ago

+Grahamhg When you figure in cost of XBL/PSN across five years, no upgrades, low library compared to PC, absolute pathetic specs were you are being raped by the cost, just not for super high end but for trash. Yeah it's not that economic in the end. Even the Xbox one X does not reach 1070. this is combined with a garbage CPU shared ram crap hdd, and general low specs while having no flexibility of having a computer.
Consoles are cheap to get into, but in no way are cost effective over a long period of time. 9900k will destroy any console CPU and next gen console CPU. It's so big that console hardware won't catch up for probably at least 6 years. PC GPU while not as insane will compare very well to consoles. I will be very surprised if they even reach GTX 1080 levels, let alone RTX in frame rates.

The gap in price between 8700K and 9700K isn't that significant, so between those I'd go with the 9700K. The 9900K is basically the 9700K with hyperthreading. If nothing you tend to ask from your PC benefits from hyperthreading, save yourself the nearly $200 and get the 9700K.

The 9900K has HT,so kinda better performance in video-editing.But I would recommend to wait until AMD launches Ryzen 3000,'cause that should be interesting, since it will most probably have a 7nm process node, more cores and potentially a higher core clock.

LINUS HUGE MISTAKE i9 9900K PCIe LANES you say its 40 SORRY WRONG!!!!!!!!! its 16 (NOT 40) if you want 40 lanes you need to buy X299 motherboard not Z370 and a proper CPUI taht got 40 lanes for that X299 motherboard

Why not make chips that use 500mhz base clock ? X 10 instead of 100mhz x 47 would surely yield improvements we seek ,,,no?

URM,,, Atmospheric two way sound processing in hq on motherboard chips ? Two phys cores min.. HDR/dolby vision/uhd frame processing requirements, two cores min...game processing/response/input/online live 4_6 cores min.. soooo 6 phys cores not enough.microstuttering 12 hyperdreaded cores ok but not fast enough under extended load...the additional requirements of things like 4k 3d and HDR and Atmos sound are never accounted for in the suppossed real world game *^^ tests......
