I substituted vanilla extract and more sugar for vanilla sugar. I used sour cream instead of yogurt. Instead of wheat, i used regular flour. Then I made a caramel for the top with heavy cream, brown sugar and butter. So yummy. 💛💛

@Truly Unbroken just add a vanilla bean to a container of sugar , shake it and let it sit. The sugar absorbs the flavor of the vanilla and you have delicious vanilla sugar!!

In realjfy the measurements given do not match with what she does.I did it and the dough was much thicker and not fluid like hers. I hated making it. It is nothing like hers and the music is irritating to say the list.

I would suggest using brown sugar with a bit of maple syrup.. or brown sugar/maple sugar 50/50.. be sure to turn down the heat to medium low after placing the lid.. it will reduce the chance of burning the sugars.. alternatively, you can also add spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, etc to the batter for extra flavour.. be sure to have fresh leavening agent so it will be fluffy.. Pears and peaches work well. For savoury.. try caramelized onion, and be sure to flavour the batter with spices and fresh herbs like cilantro, basil, or rosemary. Thanks for sharing.. great versatile recipe for a brunch! Don’t forget the mimosas!

I have a receipt kinda like that that I absolutely love. Pre heat over to 350 degrees. In a small to medium cast iron skillet add about a half stick of butter. Cook over a medium heat 2 peeled, cord and sliced apples until tender. Turn off heat.In a bowl combine a teaspoon of cinnamon, half of cup of brown sugar and 2 teaspoons of sugar. Mix together. heat. Another bowl make a small batch of your favorite pancake batter. Pour sugar mix over apples. Then add pancake mix to just barely cover apples. Put pan in oven and bake until golden brown. When done put plate on top of pan, turn over so apple pancake slides out onto plate. Top with thawed frozen orange juice ( no added water), maple syrup or whatever your favorite pancake topping is. I personally like more brown sugar and some chopped pecans added to the apples after cooking on the stove. It makes it kinda caramelized. One time I made the mistake of saying something to one of the neighbors in my apartment building. I ended up making about 8 pancakes I think.

INGREDIENTS:2 Big Apples30 g. Butter 30 g. Sugar1 Egg30 g. Sugar, yes again ;-)8 g. Vanilla sugar30 ml Seed oil ( sunflower i.e.)150 g. Yoghurt (plane)140 g. Flour8 g. Backing powder 2 ts. Cinnamon.INSTRUCTIONS:Peel the two apples and remove the core of seeds, slice in half moons. In a frying pan put the butter to melt and add the first 30 g. of sugar, once the butter is melted and incorporated with the sugar, add the apples and fry well over medium heat. In a bowl add an egg and the remaining sugar and beat by hand or with a mixer, then add the vanilla sugar and the 30 ml. of oil and the yoghurt. Beat well until everything is homogeneous. Add to the liquid mixture the flour and baking powder well sifted through a sieve.Mix for a few moments until a thick milky substance is obtained. By now your apples that you have been stirring alternately will already be fried and a little caramelized, proceed by adding the cinnamon and incorporate. Spread the apples well in the pan in a flat manner, as this will give you a crunchy and very showy topping. With the skillet on medium low heat, carefully pour the flour mixture and coat the entire surface until you cover all the apples and reach the edges of your skillet. Cover the skillet with its lid and let it cook/bake for 10 minutes over medium low heat. Place a plate as big as the mouth of your pan and turn the cake over to cook the other side for another 5 minutes after which you should check that it is cooked/baked in the center by inserting a wooden stick until it comes out clean. When this happens your cake is ready to enjoy. You can let it cool for a moment but it is advisable to eat it warm. Optional is to serve it with whipped cream or cream, sprinkled with chocolate powder or similar. Enjoy!

My mom made this for us when we were kids. Difference: she used milk instead of yogurt, and Bisquick to make the cake part. Poured batter over the chopped (not sliced) apples, and then “scrambled” the whole thing til the batter was cooked. So it wasn’t a cake; she called it “Apple Mess,” and it sure was delicious. Easy to make for breakfast. Lots of cinnamon and sugar.

I have been scolded so many times for using metal tools on a non-stick Teflon pan that I get really nervous when I see someone actually touching the pan with a KNIFE. Even though I know rationally it's safe the feeling of terror is there anyway.
@EDS Wanderlust Fairy The issue witth Teflon is that is creates a polymer fumes above 300 °C that is an inhalation hazard. Indeed when parts are chipped away, that creates hot spots and higher chance of fuming and further chipping. As a material howerer, Teflon is non-toxic by ingestion as it is one of the most inert materials know to man (it's chemical stability even supersedes that of glass) - it's like eating a piece of PVC won't do much to you so does PTFE. The issues come with vapour inhalation or microplastics that interfere with our delicate bodily membranes.
Yeah, it's not even 'safe' to mess around with knives on non-stick coating (the logic of using a rubber spatula, only to bare down and cut into the pan boggles the mind). I have a couple of cast aluminium that look deceptively like Teflon, but please don't use metal on them, and discard of any that have been damaged, as Teflon can poison you.

@rae0521 Extreme obviously meaning "more than the average person". Some people don't care At ALL about their ancestral history or past. I meet them all the time. Couldn't even tell you about their Grandparents, where they came from, what they did for a living etc. As an EXTrEMELY PROUD Sicilian I would mean I've researched my history, was interested in my culture, and was interested in oral histories, have visited ancestral village etc. Ive also met people who aren't overly proud of the culture they came from if that culture had committed atrocities, they came from a wealthy cruel class, restrictively religious, etc. Ive met people who've moved away from the American South to never look back.
"Extremely proud?" Remember "Pride goeth before the fall." I'm not trying to preach - just that "extreme" anything is rarely a good thing. How about you're proud of your heritage and being part of the almost infinite varieties of humans. We're all "proud" of being who we are... doesn't matter what flavour. One isn't any "better" than any other. It's what's between the EARS not what you look like that matters.
Notice the recipe is in Italian. I'm assuming they also make this in Southern Italy/Sicily as there is a huge North African influence on the culture and cooking.

I have been making pancakes similar to this with all kinds of over ripe fruits, it’s a big hit to my family and friends (most requested by them whenever we all get together). I learn this kind of cooking from my grandparents, they always told us not to waste any edible foods from fruits, seeds, and etc. As what my husband of more than three decades say, I could make a dollar last longer for survival. I’m the savvy one and he’s the spender, we only have 1 or 2 credit cards (for emergency only or used them to raise our credit scores but pay them right away). We tried to live what we really need, not what we want but of course as “human” we sometimes indulge ourselves especially to the grandchildren, lol 😆 As the saying goes “most grandparents spoiled all their grandkids”, a paybacks I guess from one generation to the next. @Sharon Nam Pancake mixes often have sugar and some kind of fat (occasionally even the egg) in them, so cooking the apples in butter and using just plain flour n sugar we all usually have on hand, means probably fewer calories. Plus using basic ingredients means we can be spontaneous as (to me) pancake mix is a specialty item with only one use.

@Sharon Nam I do this with gluten free flour, baking soda, and xanthan gum. If you use a pancake mix, it might not be as tall, like a cake. But I think you should try it, it would still be very yummy!

получилось очень вкусно и пышно. Рецепт в принципе похож на рецепт кексов. Несколько нюансов правда есть, во-первых йогурт надо брать обезжиренный и без добавок (кефир не проканает), во вторых строго придерживаться рецепта в граммах, в третьих муку обязательно просеивать, в четвёртых надо хорошо взбивать венчиком, если силы рук не хватает то берите миксер и самое главное на среднем или на маленьком нагреве, а то пригорит.

This is the most basic apple cake that you can learn. I remember doing this as a kid and no one went insane over it XD.

В России этот пирог называют "шарлотка". Только в тесто добавляют вместо йогурта - сметану. Я пеку его ещё и с вишней, или с грушами. Тоже очень вкусно.

I’m sure it taste great but here’s a couple things I’d do differently: Firstly, I’d make even more sautéed apples and reserve half. Once putting batter over the top of first half of apples, I’d then add the rest over the batter pushing some of them in a bit. Then I’d proceed with the cooking as directed except now, the YUMCAKE would have scrumptious cinnamon apples on the top, bottom and a few in the middle. Secondly, I’d slide the finished “pancake” onto a plate before cutting because it’s NEVER good to cut anything in a teflon pan. Once teflon is scratched and possibly flaking, it’s no longer safe to cook on.
So you just would follow your own recipe.....
I’d add meth for that special “pop”

@Вера вера o вообще не похож, просто надо хорошенько взбивать. Рецепт похож на рецепт кексов, только если брать именно йогурт. то оно получается легче чем на сметане или кефире. Кефир в манник хорош, но в такой пирог только йогурт подойдёт.

Btw if you were wondering like I was. Most vegetable oils are seed oils. Some common examples are sunflower oil, canola oil, and sesame oil
I wouldn't be using canola oil at all. I usually use macadamia nut oil or grapeseed oil or extra virgin olive oil for cakes.
