I was so happy Lexa died on The 100. I always hated how they suddenly CHANGED Clarke into a lesbian or whatever, just so they can include more gay characters. And how realistic is it in a post-apocalyptic setting, for there to be so many of a minority surviving? And of course they're all the same age and end up together... It's just so lame. It's the same what they're doing on TWD and FTWD nowadays...

In my opinion X-Files "Home" has them all beat hands down! I saw it the first night it was broadcast and it still gives me the willies. I've always believed that it's so creepy because it could actually happen.

I was so glad "Lexa" died in "The 100". All she did was try to get in "Clarke" her pants, cause thats what you want in a leader. Now lets hope she dies soon in "Fear The Walking Dead", her acting really needs some serious work and her looks has gone down in the last few years to accept her bad acting.

I still don't understand why people where scandalized about spousal rape in a medieval setting involving a well-known sadist. For too much to handle, how about Stannis Baratheon undoing every law of nature and man and setting his own little girl on fire?

Theon gets some of his fingers and toes ripped off, his nails ripped out, his teeth pulled out, some skin peeled off, his feet burned, his dick and balls cut off, forced to watch girls he's had sex with get eaten by dogs, and is forced to endure false-hope/mental torture from Ramsey for almost a year, becoming a broken shell of a human being who can barely speak.
    No one bats an eye.
    Sansa gets raped exactly once.

I hate these disgusting statements where individuals say "i'm gay and i wasn't offended" or "i'm black and i wasn't offended" or etc. SHUT THE FUCK UP. You DO NOT speak for the whole community nor do you have the right to tell anyone they're wrong for feeling triggered by an event. GTFOH

adding my comment as a non-reply too: In one single episode or instance here and there, then killing off gay character is no problem. The problem is how widespread it is. The urban tv trope "bury your gays" is a thing, I suggest everyone check out this. Also to everyone giving thumbs up to the top comment: just because one (1) lgbt person is ok with it , doesn't mean that everyone is.

The "Puerto Rican Day" episode of "Seinfeld" would have avoided this controversy if the entire episode was set on the four characters talking in the car, while stuck in the traffic jam (like the Parking Garage episode or the Chinese Restaurant episode). If they just stayed in the car, and the only point of mentioning the Puerto Rican Day Parade was to give a reason for the traffic jam, it would have been a lot less controversial. I think "Seinfeld" could have made an episode based entirely of them in the car during a traffic jam funny.

This is a great list and a look back on history in general. As a 48yo GWM, who was only out to a few people, at 26 when Ellen aired and as kid when Maude aired I remember well the huge impact and discussions they spurred.
On a side note: with media interests and choices so vast now, I wonder if as a culture we will ever again experience such event(s) that have as much of an impact together.

  • timm mcdonald

All in the family was the first i think to bring out a gay charater. Also tackled draft dodging. This list is pretty vanilla.hill street blues... Not sure why the Twilight zone episode is on the honorable mentions. That show was expected to have and given wide latitude. Law and order has episodes whick could make this list. Let that be your last battlefield from star trek tos. The plot is hiding in plain sight yet the reveal is wow the first time thru. Very similar of the 6th sense years later. Ashame the episode is so poorly shot and poorly directed because the reveal is one of the best punch in the guts tv has ever delivered. Im not saying what is put forth here for the most part is wrong in be categorized as whoa, but it tends to forget these plot devices had been breached before... Much before. And killing off a main or supporting character as a price to be paid mechanism is not that abnormal. MASH. Mcclain stevenson was leaving so that was already known henry blake was going to not be there. To kill the chatacter off in such a moment as e finally gets a discharge and is giong stateside really adds weight to the gravity and consequences of war.
