Telluneed to go back to design school and come up with a different model that doesn't look like a drunks concept of a SUV.

Missed opportunity Doug! This car has the easiest replaceable engine air filter. Nissan could learn a thing or two from this design.

I wonder how much research Kia did on the name. I skied there once and the locals sometimes call the place "TO HELL YOU RIDE."

Great reviews Doug, but never understand your reasoning for scores. Example: 1 out of 10 for fun factor. Perhaps you should score based on segment and not against super cars like the Mclaren?

Just watched two of your videos back to back. Review of the Subaru Ascent and Kia Telluride. You show a clear bias. Everything that was ho-hum in the Subaru was cool and innovative in the Kia. Even though everything the Kia has was almost identical to the Subaru aside from the styling. Driver Talk and Quiet mode don't convince me.

Ugly, unreliable, and a money pit. My dad was a mechanic for over 55 years and he tells me that this is the kinda car to stay away from. These cars generally last up to 100k miles with tons of problems. Not to mention the cheap electronics, poorly built engine, and low quality transmission. If you want to buy a family suv look into better vehicles like the Lexus RX or the Toyota 4Runner. Definitely say away from this piece of shit KIA.

Hey Doug, I think you'd appreciate this little detail that almost nobody knows about Kia...
Seems appropriate for me to tell you since you are the king of esoteric automotive knowledge on RU-clip.
The name Kia... is actually a bastardized version of a bastardized name in English.
Kia is actually not a Korean word.
It's derived from the English word GEAR. Which in Korean, lacking the letter R in the language, is translated to "gia" (which in Korean, it actually means gear because there is not an official Korean word for gear. So it's a borrowed word).
Which was then once again bastardized to "Kia" when converted back to English.
Because for whatever reasons, when Korean words become Romanized, G becomes K.
On that note, it's actually Gimchi. Not Kimchi.
The last name Kim is actually Gim.
And so on and so forth.
So. Is it a Kia Telluride? No. It's a Gear Telluride.

Edit: But nobody in Korea calls it a Gear. It's "Gia".

10:45 The welcome sound does actually play on startup but only if a certain pattern is followed. The vehicle unlock button must have been pressed once within 30 seconds and you must get into the vehicle and close the door BEFORE pressing the Engine START/STOP button. Once you close the door the display will read out "Welcome" and a song will play

As of exterior, the designers must have expected major consumers for this car to be as "americans". I have absolutely no problem with that. Anyway, this is the most american looking kia car I've ever seen...!! I'm living in korea and this car's exterior is so exceptional from other kia cars that it doesn't look like it is from kia at all.
