- We tend to think of art as mainly something to look at. However, many artists spend a lot of time and effort trying to stimulate other senses. In this fourth installment of our Elements of Art series, we look at how visual artists try to engage our sense of touch. Follow along and discover the myriad ways artists create and use texture.

This video was amazing!
WOW! All I can say is THANK YOU KQED for such an amazing job of communicating the elements using art history and exposing viewers to the work of great artists but also making them think critically about why and how artists thoughtfully integrate the elements of art. My students are going to LOVE this series. Again - thank you for great education in the Arts :-)
Hey anyone from OFY!

Luis Gabriel no
I just showed this to G2 Chinese students in Shanghai.........we're looking at texture through respected artist's work. I had to look again after these conservative comments......can't see the issue. General Advertising is way more sexual....
this shit sucks
what's is the name of this beat?
I agree with some of the other comments... i also tech elementary students in a conservative school district. I love this video and the explanation is clear and just what I want to use in my class but some of the images are too much for elementary students. Would you ever consider making another version with the same sound track??
this is bull shit
Isabelle Barker wHY nOT?
Why?!
WHAT DO YOU MEAN!!!!!! this could help countless students with art esays and reports! i'd like to see you do better

Incredible video!!!! Thx)))) Very helpful!!
Wow what a super video channel, my year 7 class is now creating a set of boards for the classroom to demonstrate the formal elements, thanks KQ!
whats the background song at the beginning?
Tangney's class is dope
I love your videos. I have a. Midterm in art class tomorrow and i.need to.know this stuff. Watching your videos give me a better understanding, and when i was 4th 5th grade our teachers seemed to be okay with showing us nude paintings and sculptures. It was a very weird and awkward day for me walking around seeing men and women not wearing clothing
Sadly, I have to agree with Brandy about there being some images that can't be shown to an upper elementary class. The very first image in the video would cause a lot of phone calls.
I'm not offended, I'm an artist. But parents of 11 year olds might be.
if you are offended easily, then art may not be for you
Thanks for the comments and letting us know, we'll be sure to keep out risque' images from now on ;-)
I love all of your videos, I have to pause this video at 1:08 because of one of the art images and believe me, personally it does not bother me but showing 3-5th grade a nude half of a person would cause some problems in a very conservative big district. I just thought I would make you aware of that. Other than that, I love that there is the fresh new look at the art elements it is overly needed in art education. Kudos to you all!
Thanks for the feedback Brandy!
