Give will smith the benifit of the doubt
I mean it's the Heath Leadger effect... The best version of a character dies (Robin Williams - Heath Leadger), and then someone has to try and remake the character afterwards (Will Smith - Jared Leto)...
I can't believe Disney doesn't make animations like this anymore, it's far more appealing to the eye than cgi
Will Smith will never top this
0:58 Anybody think of Doritos? Genie invented the Dorito.
Just how will they achieve this in live action??? The traditional animation here is key!
For everyone who's here that's already judged Will Smith as the Genie in the live action version...Robin Williams is irreplaceable as the Genie. Will would have known that when he took the part. He's done his own version, which we'll all have time to properly judge when the final film comes out.But it's unfair to judge Will after one trailer. It's like judging the next football player who wears the number 25 jersey for Chelsea Football Club. There's already a legacy that goes with it, but you can only do your own thing. That sort of applies to Will Smith and the Genie in that respect, so let's at least give him a fair chance.
Am I the only one who wonders what he "jotted down" on his notepad in arabic?
I believe in will
I'm fearing for Will Smith version of this song.
I want a friend like genie...RIP Robin Williams thanks for making the nineties fun. Was a great time to be a kid. Disney came out with some great movies back then.
it's hard to find this correct version of the song to get.
Maybe instead of squishing Aladdin, the giant genie will raise him as his own son.
*0:38** the writing says " Yellow Turkey" in Persian not ARABIC.*
i want that LAMP
I'm just here to get a blast from my childhood🚀
Okay I gotta say this to Disney: scrap the lion king remake, put the budget of that movie into the genies effects, because if you want it to be good the genie has to have impressive magic (and an altogether less awful appearance) and from the teaser this genie is a bit sarcastic so make him the type of genie that tricks the user by finding loopholes in the wish to make it a punishment or inconvenience to the owner because that would be interesting.“Genie I want to be a prince”“Okay,”*nothing about his appearance changes*“Genie wtf”“Your kingdom is poor, thousands of your people are forming a rebellion, it’ll be like Marie Antoinette”“Who?”
If they ask will smith to remake this and it’s ruined we will it stand for it.
So what do you all think about the idea of Will Smith doing his own reprise of "Friend Like Me" for the movie?
Whatever you feel about Will Smiths genie it’s the creators actions/fault; Will is just the actor being paid to play him
Oh robin Williams...we all miss you i wish you was here to cuss out will smith for this lame crap he doing trying to re due your goodnessR I.P 💔🙏😱
Man, I would absolutely love to make an animation that had the same quality as this! Disney movies such as this are what inspired me to become an animator in the first place!
I LOVE THAT GENIE!!!
2:29 me half awake from a dream convinced i have all the good stuff from the dream
Not only is Robin Williams amazing for nailing this song, but you have to appreciate the fine details in animation, the way the animators interpreted the song's lyrics, sound details, and the writing itself is amazing!
Aladdin must have been in heat when those bellydancers were rubbing up on him. I know I would be, lol.
RIP Robin Williams. He'll always be MY favorite fictional genie.
All the idiots "I'm here because of the trailer" grow the fuck up, you haven't even seen the film yet, you can't judge something you haven't seen, it's not Will Smith's fault if it's a shitty film, he didn't fucking make it. Grow the fuck up.If Robin Williams was alive to see some of your idiot comments he'd be ashamed, he was not a hateful person, you clearly have no respect for his memory by complaining about another good actor playing a role that doesn't belong to Williams...
Will Smith said “Robin didn’t leave much meat on the bone”. Robin ate all the meat, sucked the marrow out and chewed the fuckin bone to dust and swallowed it.
If I was alladin I would wonder what I ate
This is gonna look awful in the live action :( no personality its gonna be so stiff and the animation will be so awkward
Will can try to up this, he won’t but he could try.
2:11 You ain't Never, Had A, Friend Like Me!!!!!!
Kevin Hart would have been a funny Genie
Am actually exited to see what Disney has come up with , for the new Aladdin movie
*in Will Smith’s voice”Aha that’s hot, that’s hot.
I hope Will brings the intensity he will need to be a great genie. Robin was basically perfect and always will be my genie :)
I feel like they just let Robin Williams loose into the studio to sing about whatever and then had the animators animate THAT. And the results are glorious.
Why couldn’t they just animate this in cg for the live action movie
Had to watch this to get baptized. That god awful live action trailer
0:10That’s so bright I nearly went blind
27 years later and the animation is still jaw-dropping.
Who’s here from the frozen 2 trailer?
Robin to will"You ain't neveeerrrr evveerrr gonna reeeeecaaasssst meeeeeeee"
I do not like will smith
RIP Robin Williams
why they gotta ruin old classics which were perfect already with live actions?
I'm just wondering how there gonna pull this scene off in the live action movie. There is so much magic and is will smith gonna sing??? OH GOD NO!!
This is one of the reasons why people can keep coming back to this movie. The beautiful performance of the Legendary Robin Williams. What made this scene amazing is the fact you can *feel* the amount of fun Robin had with this.
I love this song
Who's here after seeing Will Smith as the genie in the live action?
Why do we need all these diet remakes!?! The originals are perfect the way they are!
Isaiah Williams “diet remakes” lol
I'm noticing a lot of comments here are from folks appreciating this after seeing the promo of the Will Smith genie in the upcoming live action movie. The thing is, while Robin absolutely owned this role such that ANYONE trying to replicate him would be foolish, I don't think Will Smith, or his character design is the problem. The problem is that there's this cultural bias that animation is for kids, and live action is adult, which implies that live action is something to strive for. But really, that's not how it works... Choosing to make something animated vs live action is just about choosing the style, and what would make it serve the story better. If you look at a film like "Atlantis: The Lost Empire", which I'd argue isn't a bad movie at all, the tone and wold that film creates doesn't require much animation to pull off. One could easily do a live action remake of it because, while the animation is certainly good, it doesn't exactly take advantage of the medium. Whereas, if you look at Aladdin, or, you know what, just this scene in particular. Like, really look at it, because this animation is incredible. The goal of the scene is to show off the limitless powers of the genie, and to do that, they dish out some insanely imaginative and speedy moments. More than that, look how it transitions from moment to moment. He makes a table for Aladdin to sit on, turns into a waiter, turns into a chicken, turns himself and his ear giant, than multiplies into 4 people who then take the table cloth and turn it into a barber chair before changing the entire background into a gold palace. All of that happens in about 30 seconds, and is perfectly timed to the music. This sounds insane when you write it all out, but because of how animation lets you transition and control every frame, none of it feels jarring. And keep in mind, these are top animators making the most use of the medium doing things you simply can't do in live action. Now, is this to say you couldn't do a scene like this without animation? No, but you would need a different approach. Instead of just trying to replicate this with CGI (which they almost certainly will), think about what's impressive in the real world. Look at how Broadway shows can pull off dazzling feats and transitions; or look at how Jackie Chan movies feel like cartoons because of the creative and awesome stunts. You can pull off a similar amazing feats in live action. And truthfully, you can in CGI as well, but the core problem with CGI is how it's used. In live action movies, it's used to simulate real events that would be too difficult or impossible to pull off practically. But because they don't want the fakeness to stand out in a sea of real, they have to emulate the restrictions of the real and the ordinary. This means it has to behave slower, and look more realistic (i.e. boring)And really, that's the problem with all of these Disney remakes in a nutshell, by trying to take their animated works and make them fit inside the more realistic live action mold, they're taking away the creative strengths of what made those work without adding the strengths of our realistic world. To hammer this point, the not particularly great live action remake of 101 Dalmatians in the 90s is still arguably the best of these remakes for one reason; the dogs are actually there. Cruella's weird fashion is actually there. They pull off feats that are impressive in the real world, so it makes an impact.
came here to respect Robin Williams & to wipe away the horror of Will Smith also have a feeling Will Smith is gonna give his version a hip hop vibe instead of a jazzy vibe Robin Williams brought
Robin Williams may not look like the kinda guy to be a good singer but this movie proves otherwise in just this song alone. R.I.P. Robin Williams.Sorry Will Smith but you just are not cut out for this role.
King Atch38 he’s an academy award nominated actor!
1992 > 2019
I love you robin
Hmmm, that's funny. I don't see any fortnite.
Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped and turned upside down, and I'd like to take a minute so sit right there. I'll tell you how I became the genie of a lamp in Agrabah.
SOoOoo what will it Be MaSteR?
Anyone else here after the horror that was the live-action Will Smith genie?
Good luck trying to replicate this, Mr. Smith. You'll need it.
... who is the genius at Disney who thought this *MASTERPIECE* needed a bloody live-action adaptation?
Will Smith, eat your heart out.
This seems real 1080p, DVD? Good, I have to find a disc and buy one, because of that live version coming out, just in case. Don't want this classic die.
This is from the bluray disc
I needed to see this after seeing that poor excuse of a live action trailer
I already know the live action version of this scene is going to fail hard. This is one example of animation being irreplaceable.
Remember how Will Smith used to rap?Now imagine a rap version of this song.
I needed this after watching the horror that is Will Smith Genie.
best alladin and genie
It's no Will Smith.
Here after having seen the new Aladdin trailer 😐
If Will Smith delivers a hip hop version of Friend Like me, I will be PISSED
Oh i feel bad for will smith. He is going to get so much hate for trying to play genie in the live action. Really though how can you beat this. You just cant
+Royce Barber I think it's smart to do his own flavor of geenie, there is no way he could do justice to trying to copy Robin's. His best bet is to be his own geenie. It's a well known fact that this iteration of the Geenie was written for Robin William's specifically, they had to fight hard to convince him to take on the role by actually animating one of his stand up sketches as the Geenie to show him, and it's been said a few times the movie likely wouldn't have happened if Robin didn't sign on. You can't imitate that, so forging a unique path is the only reasonable option.
The sad part to me is that Will Smith is NOT going to play the original genie. Smith has said he's taking Genie is a very different direction. That freaks me out. I can only hope for the best, but it'll be a wildly different movie.
At least cast someone from the same country. The Genie and Jasmine actors are not from the same country that Aladdin takes place, I really would not complain if they did that.
What Is VR? Yeah me too, he’s a great actor it’s not his fault the way he looks plus they still have time to work on the cgi and other stuff
I just watched this last night. Sorry Will Smith, but quoting Jafar from Jafar Returns, "You're only second rate."
When this is better than the new live action movie
Came here to see a true genie play their role outstandingly well.
The new Aladdin/Will Smith disaster is a spit in the face to Robin Williams and everyone that worked on this masterpiece.
Here after seeing the last trailer #robinisthegenie
came right after jodys corner stream lol! 😂👍
Any one else here after seeing who the new genie is?
=YEAHHHHH WILL SMITH COMPETELY DOESNT FIT HERE=...................
I'm here to cleanse my eyes of Will Smith
Will Smith is a proud, serious guy who has to be cool and in charge or he gets angry. So...He MIGHT make a good Genie, but thus far almost none of his hollywood roles have been anything in the same universe as the silly antics of the original genie. Will Smith said he'll have his own take on the genie, and THAT is what upsets fans. What we HAVE already seen of BlueFaceWillSmith is NOTHING to do with the original Aladdin. Not to mention Will Smith isn't middle eastern.
I mean like we can’t judge it until we see a better but if Disney fucks it up I’m going to kill the ceo
That's a little mean, but so am I.
Grow up, you haven't even seen the film yet, you can't judge something you haven't seen.
Who's here after seeing Will Smith's CGI Genie?
disney's live action movies are never good as the originals
+Pumpkin Games Stop hating bitch
+Vicki Shaw I know we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, but the fact that Jafar doesn't seem that intimidating and they chose Will Smith as the Genie. It is true no one can ever replace Robin Williams, however did they really have to choose Will Smith out of all the actors out there like maybe Jack Black or someone. Overall it's not just that we are judging a book by it's cover, it is the fact that they just keep showing a bad impression after impression for the movie, it won't flop, but it will be bad.
No because you can't judge something when you've not even seen it, grow up
it was just a shitty empty cave.. How did he made this look so fancy? 😂
Had to wash the bad taste out after seeing Will Smith's Genie.
Sad thing is I'm six hundred sixty six
Lmao I know right 😂
+Jorge Maldonado I didn't watch the live action Beauty and the Beast either.
+Vicki Shaw learn the difference between "your" and "you're" before you call people idiots.
+nemfrob That's what frozen 2 is for
Damn, Will Smith needs to fill quite some shoes...
GuardianPrime 208 yes I agree, but the thing is he’s dead
+Mark Palmer That's true, Will Smith has done some very good movies over the years, and I admit that Jim Carrey is good at what he does. However, I'll always like the original Genie voice by Robin Williams most of all.
+GuardianPrime 208 don't get me wrong I absolutely love Robin Williams as Genie but all I'm saying is that Jim Carrey would have been a much better choice than Will Smith because Jim can act insanely over the top almost as good as Robin and besides I don't hate Will Smith at all it's just that I don't buy the fact that they got him as the genie however it could have been worse we could have gotten Kevin Hart. I know Dan Castlenetta did Genies voice in the animated series and he was decent however there's a comedian named Frank Caliendo who does a spot on impression of Robin Williams.
+Mark Palmer Dude, the ONLY person who could replace Robin Williams...IS Robin Williams. Need I say more?
The only person who could have replaced Robin Williams is Jim Carrey
Robin williams will always be my genie. No one can't surpass his character. ❤💯R.I.P. my angel..
Funny story:When I was younger I was in a dance group and we were dancing to song infornt of hundreds of parents. I was like 4 and I couldn't see my mom so I did the logical thing. Fell on the floor crying. My mom has a video of me doing it. Moral of the story: Kids are idiots.
I think it‘s noteworthy while the Genie is showing off the possibilities of what Aladdin Could have, Alladin always is one step behind, he is not eating the things Genie makes appear and when He leans in to Kiss the dancer she disappearedright before the lips WOULD Touch... The Genie isn‘t Alladins friend at this point yet, instead he Tries to Tempt Aladdin into using his Wishes
Imagine going into this without knowing about the Genie. Your watching a nice film about Arabian Nights, with timeless stuff all over it, then suddenly this legend comes the hell outta nowhere, yells *HOW ABOUT A LITTLE MORE BAKLAVAAAAAAAA-* and soon the movie skyrockets to a perfect 10.
Is this video toned down or are the others toned up???
This one is unintentionally turned down. It's a problem on all my videos and I have no idea how to fix it :(
Oh Robin you crazy motherfucker you...we miss you. I could've sworn that he said "make her fuckin disappear."
I am impressed that movies had this quality more than 20 years ago
I hope Will Smith well do a good job as the Genie 🧞♂️ for the new Aladdin movie but no matter what Robin Williams will always be the one and only Genie.
infinity ZERO Are you one of his children? If so, I'm very sorry and offer you a hug.
infinity ZERO. I wish JESUS would come back soon. My wish WILL become a reality.
+Troy Greenwood i wish Robin Williams was still alive, and to return as the Genie
Are you serious, Will Smith?I've heard of EVERYTHING now.Why not cast someone with range and talent. The world is filled with artards. Those who are truly retarded, terrible word, get a free pass and my love. The artards though, deserve our censure.JESUS will straighten that all out when HE returns. HOORAY & please hurry LORD!
