Just as a heads up, if your tubing isn't flexible, just dip the end in hot water and it'll slide over the fitting super easy.

I had to chuckle at 6:30. He is using a pair of electricians wire strippers that has a built in screw cutter for 6/32 and 8/32 screws...could have saved him about 80 washers and 20 minutes.

who needs a stinky radiator just use a 5 gallon bucket filled with cold water, and put your pond water pump in bottom run the hoses to water block then back to bucket. if water starts to get warm just dump some ice in and all is ok.

If you have a workshop of stuff laying around its about $53.00. Not counting extra screws, a soldering iron (i dont have) a drill (i dont have). rather a bunch of BS. I have been binging LTT videos recently and I do believe this is the worst one i have seen because of the so called pricing as for me it would be immensely CHEAPER to buy a AIO solution.

  • ocudagledam
    ocudagledam 8 months ago

This is actually really impressive. Maybe they've improved more recently, but from what I remember, cheaper AIO water cooling solutions (from reputable brands) will often get outperformed by high end air cooling, so beating a decent Noctua cooler by 5 degrees is quite a good result for a DIY project whose main goals were for it to be cheap and have entertainment value.

+Linus I've recently finished my all costum cooled Asus Laptop Here are the temps and some details:
upgraded stock i3 2230k cpu with a core i7 3940XM Mobile Extreme Edition overclocked at 5.4 Ghz with the wattage bumped up from 55 watts default to 96 watts
currently it is being cooled by 6 push blower fans and a custom layed heatpipe sinkery.
The stressed cpu reaches a maximum of 77'C on full load.
not forgetting to mention the heatpipe layout is compeletly made of copper as the only parts costum made from aluminium are the costum back plate which I'designed to house in all the heatpipes and I'can easily say that my laptop is the fastest in balkans "Kosovo"
Here are the current specs of this system.
    Win10 operating system x64
Ram 32Gb of overclocked soddim DDR3L at 1600Mhz
    Cpu Core i7 3940XM 5.4Ghz
2X2 SSD 2Terrabytes memory for a total of 4 Terrabytes
The upgraded graphics card is a crudely installed GTX 1080Ti whom settings I'didn't touch.

I'like to send this piece of art to Linus Tech Tips Media Group to be reviewed and to know the conclusions of what they think about my work.

BTW the GTX 1080TI has been stripped from its old cooler and been permanently attached to the inside of laptop.
Which has its own cooling of course .
The main part that I'like abou this build is that it is compeletly future proof as all of its components can be upgraded.

This build before moddification was an Asus X54L BBK4
    Native specs
    win 7
    cpu i3 2330k 2.2 ghz
    4Gb Ram
    gpu gt520m 1Gb VRam
    500 GB HDD.

oh and I'forgot to mention that the default asus battery can keep this system running for around 28Mins Idle then it. dies.
