I can never figure out why in the name of hell people's first instinct is to paint lovely finished wood. Be it furniture, cabinetry, wall paneling, you name it, they'll paint it, and paint it white at that. I'd break their hands with a ball-peen hammer if only I could.

This is a fine restoration on a useful piece of furniture, but this is not a valuable piece, nor is it "craftsman" made. The fact that is has an electric clock with empire style art deco numerals dates this to the late 20's to early 40's, and it is simply a piece of factory made furniture. You could probably have gotten it in the Sears catalog. In fact this probably came with a bench or chair and a wall mirror and sold for around 15 to 20 bucks max. The truth is it wasn't valuable then... or now.
And as far as painting, it was not because of bored housewives as the war on this thread would suggest. The French drove style in the 19th century and in the 19th century they started painting furniture. So to be slaves of fashion and not look like a bumpkin, people painted their precious antiques. My wifes family has a cherry Pennsylvania corner cupboard purchased when Washington was president and it is still in the family, but in the 19th century it too got painted. Her parents had it stripped and refinished back in the 50's so it looks like it was supposed to again, but that is why people did it - being a stupid slave to fashion, and worrying what others think of you.

    01. When I strip veneer I never ever use metal tools only wood or plastic scrapers. 02. Why use epoxy glue to install the pulls??? Will be very difficult remove them. 03. Before stain I use a pre stain wood stabilizer to have more even color absorbing.

Antique is 100 years old and Vintage is 50 years old, try using very hot water and washing powder to remove the stripper finally, the stripper has a low boiling point and bubbles off really well and the hot water swells out the bruises.

As someone that has no idea how I got to binge watching furniture restoration at 3am, does the citrus stripper actually have a tinge of orange smell to it or is it just chemical all the way through? Fantastic work by the way!
