Man it really irritates me when people paint wood it's a you've got that beautiful wood that you can see the beautiful brain and then they paint over it it's a freaking antique they need to be treated like that not just painted over because you went shabby chic crap not you in particular but people today I just do not understand if you want something painted go out and buy something piece of crap from Ikea and use that... I have all of my grandmother's art deco furniture armoire the nightstand dresser headboard and footboard even the railings and I wouldn't give them up for anyting my whole house is all art deco four bedrooms art deco furniture couch Art Deco lamps Art Deco I love that. Of furniture right after the Art Nouveau what's was just too freely for me but I'm so thankful to be able to have my grandmother's furniture and to be able to understand and appreciate real Furniture not Ikea crap

Very awesome! You are an artisan!! Did you sell or keep the piece? I’ve been looking for an antique roll top desk and a secretary desk for years and still haven’t found anything that I love that doesn’t need major restoration. I was just thinking that if I had your skills then I’d be set!!

I don't care if people put all their passion into restoring the cheapest toy car or the most expensive furniture. It's my appreciation for theirs to restore things. It's people like them that make all the difference in our materialistic world we live in today.

Growing up, my mom always grabbed free stuff from people's curbs and "restored" it. I put restore in quotes because she basically just painted everything. 😬 She made decent money on the side so, now that I'm a stay at home mom, I'm looking into doing similar things but I don't want to ruin antique furniture. I've been doing tons of research on how to properly restore furniture and WOW, it's a lot of work! I now understand the prices people ask when things are refurbished correctly. I'm amazed. Thanks for yet another amazing video.

Once it was painted it lost all antique value, so although saving the print would have been nice, the important part is that it comes out looking good, and it did! Very nice.

You know that's something that people don't understand they want you know a couple thousand dollars for something that they painted into that shabby chic crap but what they don't understand is once you do that it's not antique it's now new because you've painted it you've ruined the antique antiques have to stay original to be an antique once you paint them there now crap

    Amazing! 😉
I started refinishing furniture as a child.
After so many moves I don’t so much anymore. It’s always sickened me to see holes 🕳 cut in old chairs for planters so they can rot. Or all the solid Beautiful pieces that were either burnt 🥵 or thrown in a landfill.
We’ve lost so much of our history and the craftsman that vested that much time into their work.
That craze of antiquing in the 70’s and now the chalk paint! 🎨
    So HORRID and GROSS!

  • Gregarious Solitudinist

mount the camera on a tripod. it is way too herky jerky to watch for more than a few minutes. extreme zoom is also annoying and not needed for most of the shots. there are better videos available from other restorers. not bashing you, i'd love to watch, it is just difficult to do so.

Looks okay, but you need some lessons on how to use tools. The only tool I saw you use right was the scraper. And using wire strippers for squeezing that but connector? Definitely wasn't tight enough. It will eventually work its way loose even with the shitty tape job you did on the but connectors after squeezing them together.

I'm more interested in the "Lincoln" clock. How old was it, how do you make it work again and what are those wires? battery operated? if so, where do you place the battery? wish you would dwell longer on the clock.. but overall, great restoration job.
