It's weird how Stephen tried his best to get Hugh to say something negative about Trump. He WAS a decent man. Many have said so. There sadly is a difference between Trump and President Trump. Besides Europeans couldn't care less about him...

The series is well worth watching and Hugh deserves the praise he has received. He is bright, charming and has an acerbic wit. The interview, by comparison, was not Stephen's best work.

Stephen needs to drop the whole Trump bashing game he continuously plays. He almost wants all his guests to agree with him. Hugh very civilly refused to bash the President. All other public figures ought to follow suit. Irrespective of what anyone says about Trump, he has the last laugh, he made it to the office of President. I'm sure he doesn't lose sleep, not when there is more pertinent issues facing the county at this juncture.

Anybody notice that Hugh Grant had to parse his words on O.J.? The United Kingdom doesn't have the same absolute right to free speech as we have here in the United States. It's much easier there to sue somebody for libel/slander. Probably a force of habit that a British celebrity preemptively self censors.

Bloody hell. Is it possible for these host not to bring up Trump with every damn guest? First of all, it's becoming tiresome and boring. Second, they are actors ffs and not everyone has a public stand on some issues. Especially if you are not even living in USA. There is nothing wrong with that. Give it a break already and ask them about things they know and have some fun, instead of making feel them all awkward.

As others here have said, I think it’s really offputting that Colbert feels the weird need to drag Trump into every single conversation with every single guest from every part of the world. Hugh Grant has nothing whatsoever to do with American politics. You don’t have to bash Trump with EVERY single guest, Colbert. Especially someone like Grant who is not even American & far too classy for the incivility that is American anti-Trump rhetoric. Which borders on the cult-like at times.

Hugh's a true man for not falling for Colbert's attempt to try to get him to bash Trump. You can tell that Hugh's opinion of Trump is pretty positive.
Some more proof that Hugh is red-pilled. In his movie The Rewrite, he has a scene where he goes off on "kick-ass women" in movies.

I contest this. I give you exhibit A: Gogglebox (google it if you don’t know what this is). Giles and Mary. (Google them if you don’t know who they are). There’s a table. It’s shaped like a cat. They’re examining it. Giles says ‘No genitalia.’ Mary replies ‘oh Giles, why would it have. That would be surplus to requirements on a wooden cat.’ That, my friend... is the most British thing anyone has ever said.
