I Got A Japanese Lolita Fashion Makeover

  • Published on Jul 20, 2019
  • So we traveled to East Asia to film a six-part series about beauty, style, and shopping - and we’re coming in hot with episode 2 about Japanese Street Fashion Subcultures! Japan has some very iconic and unique Harajuku-centric fashion subcultures, and Lolita style has always fascinated me - so we decided to do a deep dive into the poofy, frilly, pastel style! What do you think of my final look?

That first gothic style outfit used a waist cincher not a full corset. It looks amazing on you. I liked the socks from the second outfit. I loved the mask head piece from outfit 3. The Elizabeth Swan outfit worked better with your build than the one before it. That eye patch might have worked better for you as part of the third K-Pop outfit you tried on in Korea. The final two outfits looked really cute, but I still think the Elizabeth Swan or the Sexy murderous baker outfit looked better on you.

Lolita comes from the novel Lolita by Nobokov is about a guy who has a relationship with an under-age girl. The obvious connection here is pedophilia. Please don't promote pedophilia. To say that it makes these people to dress like a little girl is total BS. This is pushing pedophilia.

    • Layla Layla
      Layla Layla 3 days ago

@Linda L I'm not spreading any information. I'm noting that lolita is a novel about pedophilia - which you should read - and noting that blurring the lines between women and girls puts girls at risk. It's sad that you don't care and that you put frivolous things like fashion above considerations about how fashion and behaviours might put our girls at risk.

    • Linda L
      Linda L 3 days ago

@Layla Layla what is so wrong with women dressing up as young girls? Fashion should be an individual choice, why should it bother you so much what other people wear? These women who dress in Lolita fashion obviously are happy with what they wear and it's their own choice to do so, it's none of our business what they wear. And once again, the Lolita fashion has absolutely nothing to do with the novel, so please don't go around spreading false information about something you know nothing about.

    • Layla Layla
      Layla Layla 3 days ago

@Linda L they look like little girls though and it's not the details in the sleeves or others that really matters. Fashion is nice - I don't care for it - but pls have some red lines so we can protect women and girls. This Lolita fashion thing obviously makes women look like girls and blurs the line between them and older women

    • Linda L
      Linda L 3 days ago

umm no, Lolita fashion has absolutely nothing to do with the novel, they just have the same name that's all, but the Lolita fashion was actually inspired by vintage Victorian fashion. you can tell by the poofy and frilly styles that are very similar with vintage Victorian and Rococo French fashion. Please don't confuse Lolita fashion with the novel, they have absolutely no connection.
