  • Givenchy recently came out with makeup for ALL GENDERS… yes people, unisex makeup apparently is a thing. In my opinion a thing nobody asked for because makeup already is for EVERYBODY! Makeup doesn’t need labels! But how do these products apply? Are they any good? Let’s find out!

The paint got a tiny chip right before I sold it, and I genuinely used makeup to hide the chip!

Well men don’t have the same skin because the body is not exactly for men and women, as that, fondation can be adapted for men so they can find products that fits. For me, it’s pretty much like mate skin or oily skin.. I am not so hungry about it❤️ still love you so much Nikkie

I use a natural hair styling product (it’s like a hair gel but it doesn’t look slick because it’s made for styling) on my brows. It holds really well and it looks natural and colorless.

I dunno, i think this is a way to protect a mans frail ego by saying it’s finally OKAY to use these products if you’re a mans man. Like it doesn’t make you “girly” because look, it’s got masculine marketing! 🙄 I mean any line of products could package theirs in black and say pssst hey guys this is safe for you and your ego! Dang dudes, just wear the damn make up if you want to. You don’t need a stamp of approval from any one.

I kinda see this as a step to try to make all men and women see the way you do. by actually labeling it as unisex or as masculine makeup it is saying, "aye yo! Men that wish they could wear makeup but aren't comfortable enough to buy it, we have the products for you." I think having specific products first will make people gradually get into how all makeup is actually unisex.

Makeup has been worn since the dawn of time, its literally just chemicals arranged in some form that is cosmetically applied to the epidermis to achieve an effect. Think about that. Early tribes of warriors wore war paint (which is makeup), french aristocrats painted their face, those in theatre and on tv have makeup teams, all regardless of their gender. This stigma around wearing makeup has led to this gap in the market that while its a good business move, doesnt do much for the issue other than create controversy. Luckily I've known many straight men that do wear makeup and dont see it as "emasculating" because its a confidence boost in a packet and they know its just fucking makeup. If the packaging bothers you that much use a different brand or just reevaluate why you care so much about something so inconsequential right?

There was no label ever, the only thing I would say that the packaging is more appealing to men, it's just like mirrors, men and women hold mirrors, it's just we don't always want to hold a pink sparkly mirror lol..

makeup may be marketed mainly towards women but that does not mean in any way that it's only meant for women.

  • Avree Grace Fausnaught

“you are man. you can’t wear this ABH highlight.” said no makeup company ever

  • Avree Grace Fausnaught

while makeup has been traditionally marketed towards women, so many brands today are adding men and anyone in between to their lines. just because the packaging is “feminine” doesn’t mean that it isn’t unisex. EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD IS UNISEX NO MATTER THE DESIGN. periodt.

Technically yes makeup is for everyone, but men may not feel comfortable going up to a makeup store to purchase an item which has been traditionally marketed towards women. I think with the ‘unisex’ marketing it is to make men feel a bit more comfortable purchasing an item.

My partner will ask me to put some concealer on him if he has any skin issues, or even to fill his brows in - no problem. However, he'd never buy it for himself, or put it on himself, it's as if me doing it makes it ok and means he''s not really wearing makeup. To be honest, I don't think that the name would change that. He's not one of those people who is obsessed with being macho or something, he honestly doesn't care and knows I don't care about that stuff either, he's just one of those many guys who is of the mindset that makeup is not meant or made FOR him. I'm all for the more "unisex" packaging, and for brands marketing to everyone, but I think this collection seems to have been handled a bit badly.

I too think it’s really about marketing, as said by you nikkitutorials and others makeup is already unisex whether it’s females wearing it or males no matter whether or not they are straight or gay, make up is for both genders and and shouldn’t be gender based

  • Faith Gilfillan

I would like to think that unisex makeup would be a little bit more coverage than regular makeup as in because male skin has a different texture than a woman's skin. I don't know, just a thought I guess. The coverage doesn't seem to be there. Thank you for what you do. I appreciate you. Have a blessed day.

    Can I just say this
Yes ofc it says unisex but some men are embarrassed about going into the makeup section to get maybe some concealer for a pimple. I think these products are more male oriented so some men dont feel any less "manly" for buying because some men are like that and u cant change it. Thanks for coming to my ted talk

  • Nao
    Nao 3 months ago

I think they just wanna sell products to men who don’t use eyeshadow or stuffs like this, they just wanna hide skin problem without showing that they are wearing any makeup (that not excuse the packaging). But that excuse that they wanna have the same make up that other men use so they adapted the packaging for men who don’t wear makeup..

I honestly am not happy at the fact that someone is saying they are a unisex beauty brand when in reality all makeup is made for everyone. It doesn’t matter if your a 40 year old guy or a 17 year old girl or a drag queen. Makeup is for everyone and I’ve started to see more and more brands have campaigns that are inclusive in the past 2-3 years

This is insulting. Makeup has always been "unisex." It's the one thing in this world that didn't need a label and a brand found a way to give it that anyway. SMH!!!
And if this line is so-called "unisex," why is everything in this line starting with, "mister". What a mess.....
