You people are horrible at research. Moon was universally praised and almost everyone that is into Sci-Fi saw it. Underrated =! Under performing financially. And Moon did really well financially for what it was.

*Moon* is a homage to a specific 1960 novella, "Rogue Moon" by Algis Budrys. If you like that era SF you need to read it, though it might feel ponderous to today's fan. It is a very cinematic tale - I could "watch" it in all its 60s glory as I read it. *Moon* has Sam Rockwell, which is an advantage, but "Rogue Moon" explores the morality more.

What horse sh*t. “The fountain” was beautifully shot, but the story was crap. You can’t enjoy the beautiful shots, because you’re to distracted by trying to follow the story which makes no sense. You’re better off watching a documentary on discovery channel

I really liked RockNRolla, I think it has better acting than both Lock Stock and Snatch (though its tough to rival Brad Pitt from that) and had all the same ludicrous story lines converging to a gigantic cluster f that you expect from Guy Richie.

-Mary and Max is a very emotional animation. Intense and simple.
-I had a hard time to understand The Fountain. But really like. I don't know why, honestly.
The others I didn't had the chance to watch yet. But they are now on my list.

In Bruges was HUGE!!! What qualifies as "underrated", because in my books, an Oscar nomination, Golden Globe win and many other awards don't place a movie in an underrated category. The Fountain, in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful movies ever made :)

No. No. No, I learned to never trust lists made by former, present or current media or film studies students. Because the ridiculous movie snobbery is just too much. I've paid for hours of films I wound up sleeping through because of the terrible mind numbingly dull, subtitled and pretententious wank merely I was conned into by hipster mongs. And now any 1001 books or films I apparently must see before I die but just make me want to die sooner so I don't have to keep watching or pretending it's "great". Definitely anything "underrated, extraordinary, gorgeous /insert false hyperbolic word of choice" by Jules or "strong FEMALE CHARACTERS SO IT MUST BE GREAT!!!! By anyone "identifying as a toxic feminist" fastest route to " yeah, not gonna watch them" I watched most of this list already. Not falling for your lies this time.

  • Craig Miller

First of all, quotability does not make a film good. Otherwise Napoleon dynamite would make this list over Steve Zissou. How about Sunshine, the 2007 sci-fi/horror flick. Now, Event Horizon was about 80% horror and 20% scifi (and also came out in 1997), This movie is more like half and half and was largely overlooked when it came out and for years everyone confused it with the Fiennes/Weiss historical drama of 1999 of the same title.
