Interesting film, lots of flashy buildings. Stupid Idea though. Terraforming another planet, when we can't even run this one properly? If you could get rid of the Globalists and power hungry people, and get Committed people to make proper, logical decisions for the betterment of ALL mankind. Work toward fixing up our arid areas, building under Sea habitats, and making the world work with basically NO waste. No more Uranium Reactors, Thorium salt Reactors are 400% safer. Clean up Fukashima Daiichi at whatever cost, within the next 8 years, because IT is killing our world. Learn to Irrigate areas properly and use those areas to grow more food, use the under water cities to do the same. Use current Technology and build NEW Technology to fix our planet, and make it the Utopia we all want.

Mars is a close space station ready to be colonized after comets & metal meteoroids make life easily possible. Mons(85km high) is a nice place to setup a space elevator. A global magnetic field scientist think can be made to help with radiation & atomsphere. I expect our moon to be the first station which will give a model of shelters & rockets to visit Mars.

Some simple people are not excited by discovery. It cannot be explained to them. It is much like trying to explain society's need for laws to a pathological criminal. Beyond that. There are some extremely important reasons for going to Mars and trying to colonize other planets that small minds often cannot be troubled grasp. First of all, the human species is extremely vulnerable to extinction by being localized to just one planet in the entire expanse of a fickle universe. There is a substantial chance humanity could be wiped out either by their own doing, by war and weapons of mass destruction, or by internal natural events such as plagues, or by external natural events like planetary or asteroidal impacts, or even fall to succession by a superior species arising here or coming from without. By inhabiting other planets, not because they are prime vacation spots for the wealthy and the dull, the survivability of the human species is greatly enhanced. This leads us to a second reason, the natural biological behavior and extrapolative progression of a sentient species like humanity leads in a purposeful manner directly to exploration and colonization of space for the first reason mentioned. Like sons and daughters leaving their parents home to establish their own, it is a natural rite of passage for humanity to become a larger social family among the stars. Evidence of biological pressure to do so is present in the current trends of overpopulation and environmental pollution and degradation due to overpopulation. The only way to reduce and reverse the negative effects of overpopulation is to reduce the population, and the only way to do this naturally is through exploration of space and colonization of other planets. Space faring is dangerous and the prolific nature of humanity's overpopulation trend is to biologically offset such dangers. This is similar to the acts of squids raising thousands of eggs to offset the dangers of the ocean so that when they hatch at least a few may survive to carry on the species. The human species was never intended to remain confined to the Earth, and remaining confined to this planet represents biological evolutional failure, meaning atrophy and decline, inviting mass destruction and/or extinction of the entire human species.

+Christine Brandis Double Nope, the first American colonies were a place to send undesirables too at first, because of the low survival rate. The best and brightest did not start showing up until the risks were more comfortable compared with the rewards. You better believe it eventually came down to resources, what they could send/take back for trade. Chartered Companies = Resources = Trade = wealth

All exposition and no story. Nicely done, but exposition must take a back seat to story for it to be truly evocative. Translation: you could have used a real human narrator or two rather than the deus ex machina data dump you used. And there was no real story aside from the description of the founding of this off-Earth colony. Some sort of story progression would have sealed the deal. If the makers are reading my comment, please don't get too upset at my criticism. I enjoyed watching your film. But your video quite effectively set the stage for a narrative story that never came. But keep it up. You're all obviously quite talented.

I agree since all humanity can all fit in the state about the size of Texas with 100 square feet available to each person maybe we should put our resources into the uninhabited parts of the Earth. I'm not talkin rainforest and tearing stuff down. But I think we are smart enough to figure out how to live on our own planet and make our deserts bloom. I guess people are just too lazy. Rich people just keep throwing money at the problem because they really don't have a care in the world. They're set. And mean with our satellites we can see old trails like the Silk Road, we could see old ancient dried-up River beds all over the Sahara and Australia but we could also see where there is still water in the deserts of the world. Israel was a wasteland comparable to a third world country until the Jews came and made their Desert Bloom. A country that small in that dry of a region is one of the top exporters of produce and fruit in the world. They perfected drip irrigation which change the whole game. I will never understand the Africans that live in these places with no food and no water. The animals had enough sense to follow the water and food. All We Do is throw money at people who live in arid regions and are dehydrated. Maybe it's time for some knowledge to be passed along. Learn how to do go dig a well, learn how to water your crops properly. And obviously you would have to see if the environment that you are in is survivable without outside assistance. But I guess I will never know because I don't live there and I don't have to experience what they have to experience. It has to be horrible but I guess that's why it's our job to teach instead of throwing money at them or crappy food.

There is no real need to go and try and inhabit other worlds, the one we have here would be perfect if we just cared for it, utilised all the alternative energy we have and the enormous land and sea space that's available. Earth can easily accommodate man for hundreds of millions of years IF we are smart and stop strangling the damn thing. Would be far easier to 'terraform' the Sahara and other uninhabited spaces on our own planet, the Oceans have vast spaces where it would be a lot easier and cost efficient to create undersea cities and communities. There is plenty of room here for mankind we just have to be clever with our science and we can live here for eons. Maybe a few thousand years from now man might have developed faster than light travel and then we can seek out planets that are already suitable for life without trying to create atmospheres and magnetic belts...then again for F we've perfected living under the sea there is always our conveniently located Moon upon which to build colonies.

If you terraform, or I assume make green, the Sahara Desert, then the Amazon Rain Forest will die. The reason being that the soil in the Amazon is thin and nutrient poor. The dust blown off from the dried lake beds in the Sahara desert travel across the Atlantic Ocean and fertilize the Amazon. This has been known for a long time. This is what makes possible the lush greenery. When the Sahara was green, the Amazon was grasslands.

The "hope" of colonizing other worlds is not so much about overpopulation exhausting Earth's resources as it is about preserving the race of mankind through dispersal to other worlds and star systems... Ultimately, other galaxies as well. We can see in the Earth's own planetary surface, as well as that of other planets in our solar-system, ample evidence of extra planetary mass impacts. Natural disasters, catastrophic wars, and other threats to human existence endanger the continuance of the human race and, the best solution to safeguarding humanity's existence lies in off-world colonization. It is the most reasonable thing for mankind to do. We must continue to develop plans and operational systems for colonizing other worlds. We dream of reaching out into the stars and, the worlds and resources that they hold beckon us to come and develop them and make them our own. Expansionism is in our DNA: I feel the call of the stars, don't you?
If I may add, I would further propose that, if other forms of intelligent life are out there, traveling between the stars, they are following their expansionist, race preserving ambitions as well. If they are hostile toward other space faring sentient beings, I'd rather we'd run into them out there, among the stars of other worlds, than to find them one day in orbit around our planet, seeking to transform it into a world more suitable to their liking for habitation, despite our pathetic isolationist pleas and protestations to their plans.

The very nature of humanity is to consume, mold our environment to our will, advance technologically, and explore.
We WILL consume Earth eventually - it will happen - and we will move onto other worlds and do the same. Its our nature. Whether you call humanity a 'virus', 'parasite', or 'plague' wont change what we are or what we will do.
If a crow wasnt supposed to fly, why does it have wings?
If a fish wasnt supposed to swim in the sea, what is the reason for gills?
If man wasnt supposed to consume our environment, why can we tear elements and material from the ground and build castles in the sky? 🤔

Mars terraforming is a pipe dream. #1 major obstacle is Mars has no planetary magnetic field (Van Allen Belt). Any proto-atmosphere would be ellimated by sun's solar wind/CMEs.
Cost prohibited as constructing O'Neill Space Settlements more logical & a hell of a lot cheaper/more beneficial.

    • LB B
      LB B 3 months ago

More directly, whether you and others like you believe it is a "pipe dream" or not, it must be done for the future of the species. Earth is a paradise in the cosmos. Humanity is more than fortunate to have such a home. BUT! From here on, there are NO guarantees on what will be available "real estate" for humanity to claim in the rest of the cosmos. As a infant space-faring species, we do not have the luxury of choice and indeed may never have it. It is likely that nearly every other planet like Earth in the heavens is claimed by another more or less advanced sentient species. Still for the human species to continue to grow, advance, and ensure its survival we must go to the stars.

    • LB B
      LB B 3 months ago +2

We have insufficient information to make such wide-ranging and absolute assumptions about the future of terraforming Mars based on the apparent situation with its magnetic field. What is becoming clear is that Mars was much like Earth in its past, and with better understanding of what led to its current state, there is no telling what could be done in the area of its terraformation.

    • Arkadij Friedt
      Arkadij Friedt 4 months ago

Major obstacle? Mars isn't anything that anybody could land on. Earth = flat & stationary. No "space", no "planets". The rest is imagination created by freemasonic globe lies.

Exponential growth always leads to exponential collapse. It is a natural law governed by natural logarithmic math. Our species is not immune to those natural laws. It is encoded within our DNA to reproduce and grow in numbers. If we are not growing then we are dying.
The problem is that exponential growth is not sustainable in adiabatic systems with limited resources.
It is not sad. It is just the way that it is.
What is sad is your own refusal to accept the reality and your own proclivity to seek out a utopian dream...which is not possible for any species living on Planet Earth.
We all die and the die off will be massive as we have depleted our reserves of Fossil Fuels. That is what fueled our growth during the past two centuries and when it runs out then life is over for most.

Loved the score for the last third of this(from about 6:30 onward)... really great in fact. the first parts though.... with that typical, annoying emotional build and crescendo.... not so much. no.

Mars will never be terraformed. It has no magnetosphere and atmosphere pressure will always be too low.

Mars is one fourth the size of Earth. Who tf would want to live there? Try terraforming Afghanistan, its closer albeit more challenging.

The first mistake is Mars cannot be terraformed. It will never have an atmosphere as it has no magnetic field to hold it on the planet against the solar winds. Second, the mission is to find worlds we don't have to terraform. third Earth 2 was the name of a two season tv show. good try but you have to have real science in scifi.

Having just watched this video, I was going to post a similar comment. In a way I'm glad I checked and you beat me to it.
Saving time and reassuring me that others already know this to be true. You would have to effectively reheat the core of the planet in order to restart the original magnetic field. Something way beyond our present technology. We are not Gods.

What we have done to this planet we shouldn't be allowed on any other

What we have done to this planet through overpopulation and taxing its delicate carrying capacity is the reason why we must go to other planets and continue to learn. Remaining confined to Earth will spell humanity's doom eventually.
