Every surfer’s dream ‘an endless wave’

When I was a child on the Canadian side of Lake Erie, we dug a trench from a pool like this and then it started to rain. We came back when the rain stopped, and it looked kinda like this. The current was very strong. I swam in from the lake towards the current, thinking it wasn't very strong. I ended up being caught in it and my uncle had to swim out and rescue me. The undertow can be really dangerous. Be careful if you come across something like this.

This can happen when a seaside saltwater pond (separated from the ocean by a sliver of beach) that has no natural outlet/ drainage fills from the summers precipitation. Once a year they have to manually open up a small channel that grows into this until the pond equalizes with the ocean, wherein it is either naturally (usually manually) refilled. At the beginning the current makes waves like this until the pressure from the ponds volume lessens, becoming a regular current
