  • We bought the Walmart Overpowered DTW3 gaming PC to tear it down and review it. Unfortunately, Walmart shipped us about half the computer we paid for.

    Article: www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/3401-walmart-gaming-pc-overpowered-dtw3-not-worth-it-review
We're answering the question of "is the Walmart gaming PC worth it?" with this video, but also, the answer is "no." Especially because they sold us a different PC than the one we got, but maybe that's just a logistical thing. Regardless, the internal components deserve analysis and discussion, as does the build quality and quality of assembly. The Walmart DTW3, DTW2, and DTW1 machines were already clearly overpriced, even for a system integrator, but it gets worse the more we dig into it. This is the kind of machine that a parent buys for their kid to play Fortnite, and Walmart still manages to screw it up.
And if this pushes you to build your own system instead, we're here to help. Try starting with our Best CPUs of 2018 guide: ru-clip.com/video/TCxjhEMGNZE/video.html

Reasons to buy the Walmart Gaming PC
    - the Great Wall power supply + colorful cables
    - a stick of green ram
    - 3x usb 2.0 ( Usb 3.0 sucks)
    - non overclockable CPU ( no one overclocks a CPU these days - Overclocking decreases performance)
    - gTx 1070 8gB
    - Overpriced

How to buy a car from walmart :
    1. Find and add your desired car to cart (for example Porsche 911 GT2 RS)
    2. Select shipping option of your Porsche 911 GT2 RS
    3. Select payment method of your Porsche 911 GT2 RS
    3. Wait for the delivery of your Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Edit: imagine if you paid for their $400-500 one and you got the $2200 one lol I bet someone got yours after paying for a lower quality one and shit their pants.
And last edit, I hate Walmart but I love it at the same time... I just bought a c8 for $400 that was a display model and got an accident plan to get it fixed if literally anything goes wrong with it for 3 years so I'm thinking about 2 years from now I'm gonna push it off the stand and get a new one.

The whole video is a joke. It is just a wrong shipment, the buyer is responsible to check if he received the correct package, he simply should not accepted it, especially since it is clearly written on the box. Also that USB 3 connector is very flimsy, it is actually good they glued it for transport, but should have used duct tape instead.

Not to defend Walmart, but working for a multi billion company - getting the wrong product isn't a Walmart issue, it's a $12 an hour employee, who thinks he is worth $15 an hour, but really is only worth $5.
    Also unions, but I digress.

You know, You put the base wattage in this reportout, but if the OVERPOWERED in their name is supposed to mean anything it means that they attemptively overclocked it..... you do know that the computer would burn out before they even got done with Benchmarking. A 1070 TI is 95 W, at base. when it is running games or other programs that wattage amps up by a factor of 3. No way in hell will that supply be near enough to cover an already over taxed system where base component wattage takes up half the supplied power.

That is why you should always build your own. Really, it's not that hard. There are hundreds of DIY websites to guide you every step of the way. Once you build a desktop, future upgrades are MUCH easier and cheaper. (Forget laptops, you can never upgrade them). I built my 1st one some 15 years ago, and have gone through two cpu/motherboard upgrades. The old parts still work just fine, and I could resurrect them as a 2nd desktop should I ever want/need to. I did have to buy a new power supply the last upgrade as the 1080ti GTX cards are power hungry, but of course I still use the hard disk drive, dvd, case, monitor, fans, keyboard, mouse, etc. However, you might have to buy a new copy of Windows as it can be married to the motherboard, depending on what version you have. I had the upgraded Win10 version from Window 7, so I had to buy it again for $100 for the new AsRock 370 Extreme4.

    • Thetechgenius

Insetick Yeah, but they would only check thier GPU via software if they know about these mistakes or whatever you want to call them. Most people will just be so excited to have a gaming PC, they will just connect it, install steam and download games as soon as they get it.
Now people of the Custom PC community are different, if I buy a pre-built, the first thing i would do is open up the side panel to see the cable management, make sure all cables are connected, and probably take off the cooler to repaste the CPU with my own Thermal Paste.
And if its liquid cooled, i will be checking every fitting, and turning on the cooling system by itself, to check for leaks. That's all before I even connect it to a monitor. lol.
But thats me, i know what to look for, i built many PCs. But the normal user won't even think that it was possible for them to give him the wrong Video Card, or the wrong CPU, or not the right amount of memory, etc....

I'm fairly snobbish about pc pre-builds, I would never recommend a prebuild to anyone because they are universally pretty bad. I completely understand their is a market to fill, but I haven't seen anyone that is filling it that is within reasonable cost which may just reflect taxes etc. I would build anyone a pc for free, but 90% of the prebuilt market is complete rape. You are always going to get the worst components with the worst crap. The ONE time I bought a prebuilt from best buy, the pcie header was bent down, of course even knowing that voids your warranty (since they don't want you seeing their massive fuck ups). So, i'll just build my pc's like I did as a kid screwing with 286's and isa ports. Corporate pcs are dog shit.
