I see a little possible luck there. Firstly. The window is probably binding on the inner (bent) rails. Then the axle appears to have been pushed back in the hit causing the drive shaft to come out of the splines, and splitting the leaf spring. Otherwise some body panels, a leaf spring, wheel, and paint it should be good

It's a 2015. So it's still worth some serious change. It's at CoPart so the cost to repair it was more than the truck is worth. The tin doesn't look that bad, which tells me the truck has some serious frame and suspension issues. Might be best to part it out?

With all being said here and after watching a good amount of videos, some of these repairs can be very expensive from what I see, even when you put all the labor and paint yourself (aka guy with 2017 ford). My question is, how much they paid for these vehicles? They don’t share that info. Anyone has a good idea?

Anything can be repaired , if you throw enough money at it. Your “axel” slipped out of the trans when the leaf spring broke, allowing the rear end housing to move. That’s the first thing you need to repair.

Copart does not show enough pictures of damage, I have bought a few and each time something very major was damaged. My last purchase had the entire roof panel completely collapsed down, only damage on photos was a light hit in front. Not one phot of roof was in photos.
Just figure more cost to fix when you are bidding. Not a game for the public to be playing with copart.

I am by no means an expert but this truck has "hidden damage" written all over it. Something hit the right fender HARD! the axle assembly on the rearend is obviously wopperjawed which is the start of the crazy train seeing that likely the alignment with the rear driveshaft, differential, and axle mounts are shifted. What broke that leaf spring as well seeing it sheared on a high tension spring. Replacement of parts isnt the big ticket items here....I am figuring someplace theres a tweak in the frame and that will cost loads. the Right front fender appears cosmetic as theres no damage to the core support, radiator etc. Also the mounting bolts appear to not be molested by the accident. A couple things I would check if it were mine is to see what damage is hidden inside the "scratch mark" on the left fender. Dually's are notorious for people beating the pee out of the fenders over the rearend however that was a pretty massive impact to leave those marks. Also check your rearend mounts on both sides. the dent to the rear right easily could have shifted the entire rear axle assembly out of align which would be a bear to repair I would think. Obviously these are my personal thoughts, and there are many professionals here that can describe better in detail what theyre expert opinions are. My two cents anyway. Best of Luck with it. It will be an amazing truck once you get it roadworthy again and the Cummins diesels are fantastic.

    MIKE SCHINLAUB 7 months ago

okay it's not an axle it's a drive shaft plus if you look the leaf springs are bent on at 2 and all the u-bolts are probably trashed on the back plus if you look at the front end the front coil spring is bent so the front end is tweaked to so it probably needs new control arms under the truck if it did not been the frame I bet you you're going to have to go get the frame straightened you're going to have a lot of money in it

This will cost more than you may expect. 1st fix is the spring & shock remount (just to safely move it), door right front fender, bed & hitch remount My guess that frame ding was the driveshaft hit it. Drive shaft & shock could be bent. Then at least 1 or 2 wheels, possibly tire. Get a good body man to save the door guts, because you will blow the glass out, or mess up the inner door panel. That is free 40yrs of experience of warning:)

Just found this video and sadly there are a lot of mean comments. You're young with much to learn so I would like to give some advice.Copart sells mostly units deemed too expensive to repair by the insurance company. With that in mind you need to understand that if you don't do the repairs yourself you will be negative on the value of the unit. I have bought travel trailers from copart and made good money on all but 2. Copart is there to get top dollar and when they take pics and describe the unit do not expect them to point out all that needs repair. They are NOT there to help the buyers.I bought a used FEMA trailer to use at my farm.(it was cheap). It developed a roof leak that rotted the entire roof, most walls and had started an interesting mold colony within the unit.I was getting ready to tow it to a landfill when I remembered I had insurance on it. Insurance company totaled it(and I doubled my money) and it went to copart. I tracked the sale. Unit had a rotten roof, rotten entry wall, mold and rotten floors at all 4 wall transitions. Copart listed it as an "enhanced vehicle" with blurry pics and some poor soul paid $5200.00 for it.

  • amos snow
    amos snow 7 months ago

Toward the end you say it will tow 30,000 pounds. Maybe. I'm on my 3rd Ram and know the brand. Tow capacity on Rams is all over the place and depends on engine, tranny option, and differential options. My current Ram 3500 HD has the cummins, the aisen tranny and I believe 3:85 gears in the differential and I can tow around 28,000. To get to 32,000 I have to drop the 4wd,go to a regular cab, keep the Cummins high output and keep the aisen tranny and go to 4:10 gears in the differential. You can call any dealer and give them the VIN and they'll tell you what the tow capacity of your truck is as it was built.
