You know this movie is set on a fairy tale right... Arabian nights.
And the modern pop related things are a link to the fact that this a very popular panto... And pantos are always set in the past but use modern pop references. And have since their creation a few hundred years ago.

That first theory is garbage. If she was actually the mastermind, she would have went for the lamp herself when a boy in rags suddenly appeared (Alive) as a prince.
Most of these theories are pretty bad BUT... I did like that last one. The idea that everything that happened was to get Aladdin married to the princess. That' a pretty cool theory.

Sultan told Aladdin he was going to be Sultan one day. That means he was going to be a prince.

Genie was likely able to travel through time or at least see what's going on in time, Merlin did the same in "The Sword in the Stone."

They should have played "Magic Carpet Ride" instead of "A Whole New World."

I think for the first one it wasn't Jasmine who was Jafar's boss, but her mother's. Just hear me out, so I believe that Jafar had fallen in love with the late queen and would have done anything for her, as we see that he is still very much enticed by Jasmine after he has gained all the power, meaning he is very much attracted to the girl. In the movie the sultan says that Jasmine is so much like her mother, and as she looks basicly nothing like her father really, that means she must look like a younger version of her mother, and of course Jafar would be attracted to a exact replica of Jasmine's mother.
Right so getting back to the main point, Jasmine is 15/16 and Jafar seems to have been planning this longer than just 16 years, so I don't believe that it were her, and as you rightly said, the Sultan isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. So of course her mother would be a more reasonable suspect as she was about the right time and we have not enough knowledge of her to prove this wrong. This is what I believe went down:
So a young Jafar just starts working under the reign of the newest sultan. The sultan of course needs a wife, and so he goes searching the other kingdoms for one. The princess he picks is about 10-20 years older than him (Just a theory IDK really), he has fallen in love for the girl and wishes to marry her, offering her kingdom money and protection, she of course agreed to aid her kin and help them. But during her stay she fell for one of the kings servants who in turn falls for her, I of course mean Jafar. The Girl and sultan get married and they rule for ten long years over the kingdom, by then though the sultan was growing old and his wife grew to loath him as he was the only thing keeping her from the one she loved. She had affairs behind her husband's back with Jafar. The reason to why she wanted the lamp was that she wanted to wish to be with her lover for ever away from the sultan.
One night she and Jafar took it too far and she eventually became pregnant, of course she realised early on and sudeuced the king against her own likings so that they would not be found out, as for Jafar he didn't find out it was his child, and the sultan's wife died three days after child birth, due to a terrible sickness, the child grew up motherless and caged like a bird, this we know as Jasmine.
Yeah, so that is my whole theory in one, what do you think?

  • Am Cheeze
    Am Cheeze День назад

The theory about Jafar being a good guy is actually derived from the understanding that the citizens are IN POVERTY not that they are thriving.
There are many poor people desperate to sell their merchandise, and even poorer people, and children digging for food, while the sultan plays with toys, and eats food fit for a city.
The theory is based on the idea that Jafar sees Al and some con man street rat that just wants money and a cute girl, and will only bring the kingdom down to nothing more than rubble.
So he tries to take it for himself to save it.
*For anyone who comes across this. You're welcome. You can watch the movie and realize how the theory actually goes*

The last theory makes a lot of sense, technically when Aladdin married Jazmin, he became a prince.
About the post-apocalyptic setting, somebody form the producers of the movie already debunked that theory. I think the reason why the genie can make jokes about 90s pop culture is because he can see through the 4th wall. Remember at the beginning of the movie when he speaks to the camera and even clash with it, or at the end of the movie when he bends the picture of the screen and talks directly to the public.

Context matters. Aladdin’s wish would have been “make Jasmine fall in love with me” which the genie can’t do. So his wish about being a prince wasn’t about his wanting to be a prince, it was solely about having a legit chance to court a princess. Genie gives him what he needs to get his foot in the door and allow the two to fall in love, which they do. It was never ever about having power or money or royal blood.

A genie has no choice but to do what he is ordered by the holder of the lamp, so working for Jafar didnt turn him evil.
Heres a dark theory for you. In the movie Aladin says "I must have hit my head harder than I thought" when he meets the genie. What if he did, and is really laying in the cave in a coma, trapped forever...

I believe that, unlike humans, genies don't have linear view of time stream. As beings not bound by flesh, they could be timeless. They are the epitome of possibilities. So, genie could be familiar with 20th culture even in 14th century.

Well think of what the Genie said about himself "Phenomenal Cosmic Power", I would like to think his abilities are near limitless except the three rules, the ONLY difference between a Genie and a actual God. But Piowerwise they might be equal so I would say Genie posesses some sort of Omnipotent awareness, knowing what had happened, is happening and will happen, so he does know about Future culture and can trasnform into all those popcultural references

You ever heard the "Black Sand" theory?
In the animated series, Mozenrath had Jafar's mentor turned into a mamluk, Proving he was stronger than Jafar and his old mentor. Destane was who Jafar feared, and he controlled the power of the black sand. Many other magic users used black sand, but always felt this power easily corrupted any and all who tried using it. Though Mozenrath had the power, he made a deal to someone to obtain the powers he needed. This being said, the black sand theory is that though many can use it, only one can master it with powers beyond that of normal means. I.e genies, demons, other unknown entities. The theory implied that the one who Mozenrath made a deal with was a demon. He lost his right hand for the powers to control the sand, but if you notice, the sand is the same color of a certain great demon.... Yep... You guessed it...

Turning Jafar into a good ruler is a huge stretch of the imagination. I know of course this is just one of those fun little theories that people try throwing out there but honestly it doesn’t stick.

  • Zak Kaufman
    Zak Kaufman 3 дня назад

Theory 1: Agreed with the fact that Jafar blew through his wishes without a thought, wishing to be sultan of Agraba instead of ruling over a land of his own. Wishing to be the most powerful sorcerer in the world and yet he's limiting himself to simple parlor tricks, wishing to be a jinn and not really realizing the consequences of his actions. He now has unlimited absolute power and he pissed it all away for greed and lust. Whether he was the middle man can be argued, but I have a strong suspicion that it wasn't Jasmine he was working for, but Kazeem, Aladdin's daddy…
Theory 2: Why does no one understand that being a genie makes one a 5th dimensional being? Phenomenal cosmic power, Genie has the ability to warp reality into whatever he or his wielder wants which is only limited to killing anyone, raising the dead, and forcing love. Besides, the Sphinx makes a cameo as it's being carved, so no post apocalypse for you
Theory 3: Disney is trying to cater to everyone, like literally everyone. The parents aren't going to want to sit through an hour of song and dance with bright colors, and this was most for boys than girls, who have a million other princesses to try and emulate and not really any princes for the boys who do a lot of the curb stomping
Theory 4: It's possible, Genie has been abused and treated like shit, so why should he trust Aladdin, or give him a chance to prove himself? His natural limitations are linked to his lamp and whomever holds it, and there are most likely a few reasons why he doesn't want to raise the dead or make people fall in love. However, as a 5th dimensional being, why do this anyway?
Theory 6: More likely Jafar was afraid of being discovered of what he was doing and what he was doing was playing "the power behind the throne." Jasmine not being a dense pretty face was a formidable threat to him as she's not as easily manipulated as her father.
    Is he evil?
No, though his methods and motivation are that of traditional villains, it's mostly due to the fact that he has already taken over and is in control, but with the princess having to be married and her father stepping down for the new heir, Jafar isn't going to let some random schlub come in and ruin all his hard work and when he heard of a magical lamp that held a wish granting genie, he did everything he could in order to get ahold of it, whether it was spending coin or bodies. He just got too ambitious in the end
    Theory 7: This makes sense

  • lenlimbo
    lenlimbo 3 дня назад

Except maybe the last one, I don't see it. At all. The genie is evil and has free will doesn't work because he asked Aladinn to use his third wish to become, again, a prince, instead of freeing him. Just that one debunks almost every following theory. The Genie can't manipulate the free will of other characters. That much is obvious when he says he can't make people fall in love with other people and when he doesn't make Al free him. He is bound to the lamp and the wishes of the lamp owner.
Jaffar is the middleman doesn't work when he had a wish ready. It just wasn't a very good one, being his second wish his best and his third a very bad one.
I'm going to ignore the sex thibg because EVERYTHING can be linked to sex.
Jaffar was a somewhat competent ruler, but he didn't made the rules, and he used the guards for his own purposes. And the first thing he does once he doesn't have to answer to the sultan is to become a tyrant. From here we can reason that the "bumbling and incompetent" sultan wasn't exactly that bad. He was just way too happy and relaxed.
The genie can obviously travel through time. Also, if we want to go that far, Aladinn and Hercules happen in the same period then. Why? Both interact with each other in the animated series Hercules.
The third one... If we ignore the part were the Genie realized Al's wish before he made it, I can see it. To a degree. The Genie still can't directly manipulate peoples through his powers, so most of it was the world being as it is, and Genie adapting to make Al into a true prince.

My dark theory: Since Genie is telling the story, he's free to change some small details. For example, he swapped Aladdin and Iago's voices to make the whole affair seem a little more conventional. Aladdin should have always been voiced by Gilbert Gottfried.

I'm not sure "this song's lyrics can be interpreted as sexual metaphor" rates on the scale of post apocalyptic futures and Jafar being a pretty effective despot until the point where he doesn't have the ninny of a sultan to keep his ego in check. Especially since basically everything can be interpreted as a sexual metaphor when you're sufficiently in the mood.

  • rashkavar
    rashkavar 3 дня назад

Easy explanation for the genie's references, given that he's the only source of a lot of these references that get the post apocalyptia theory rolling: the genie doesn't care about time the way mortals do. He's an immensely powerful being capable of granting world bending wishes. He's also speaking the same language as Aladdin despite claiming to have been stuck in a lamp for 10 000 years. Either he has some way of understanding modern English despite having been in the lamp (or presumably a variant of Arabic if we assume the English isn't the language being spoken in world.), or he's lying about the time frame by a signficant margin.
Or, y'know, his modern references are there to be funny and aren't really meant to have an in-world explanation. There's certainly no in world explanation for his obsession with the late 80s/early 90s in all his reference humor, aside from the fact that they were reasonably modern references to be making at the time the movie came out.

I commented, but feel like I should spin up a dark theory out of respect to the channel. That the story is all about only recognizing our own vision as good. Almost making Jafar a 'good' guy, but more so making our heroines bad guys. That the effort of 'tricking' someone to fall in love with you almost by propinquity and made up villains with a girl who is being literally forced to choose a suitor. Who incidentally is partially acceptable because he is the only one left. Jasmine who easily reverted to manipulation as it suited her position didn't seem to have much moral fiber, not to fault her for being backed into a corner, but the thought of showing "your true colors" or what you are really capable of. Looking at genuine actions and speech the one who mostly openly stated things was Jafar, unless he was the greatest liar of them all. What would make Jafar a good guy is knowledge in this situation. So to put himself in a position where her father is "willingly" forcing his daughter to marry his consultant is no different than forcing her to begin with. He sought to acquire the lamp and searched for someone "suitable", when all they had to do was walk in and take it which was a task he could have performed himself, although he faked being an older less-abled man. It is a fine line between charming and creepy and the only way to not have this 'romance' end in disaster from deceit alone was to never make them the liars. He might have been considered not a free man as his service to the King or any King is usually ended by a death sentence, so genie got to be free as Aladdin despite being an okay person was not going to set genie free as was later revealed. So he took over as genie and "looked dismayed" about his new sentence of servitude in the process freeing genie and setting himself up for what might have been centuries of rest with the dream of one-day acquiring his freedom. So this might be a stretch, but we are more "obvious now about the fact that the audience is not there for information before, during, and after the movie/series, but it seems that as an audience we had not been evoking our own imagination. Or always taking things at face value even when inconsistency is apparent to try to gleam deeper meanings or put a personal spin on a story you liked to turn it into a journey you loved. Movies and series are only as thought provoking as we choose to make them and that was never less true with books, we just thought we didn't have to spell it out for you.

In dispute of Genie being a liar.
Being a Prince isn't 100% about birth in all eras. Most at some point became royalty based on status and he didn't say how he would make him a Prince, but his desire was to marry a princess i.e. he didn't state that giving him XxX had made him a Prince, but it did open the door for him to become one. No one has ever stated genie wishes were instantaneous. He laid out guidelines, but never said that he couldn't disobey them and almost stated that bringing back the dead wasn't going to be what he imagined so don't wish for it because though he didn't lie about his ability to do it. You wish is my command, is not in fact a statement of absolute subservience, but stating that he will make your wish come true in a sequence of command. Nothing is implied that he is incapable of lying, but I definitely think it is apparent that he chooses not to.

Not 100% accurate as they do go out of the way to change the law, but I stand by the genie information. I think it would make you a princess to be engaged to a prince, but perhaps we are more stingy with these titles than I had presumed. I do have to say this being in multiple places and potentially being involved with his father becoming the King of thieves notion i.e. making him the Prince is definitely noteworthy. He didn't have to tell him that he granted his wish to completion and on a personal level I maintain that omission is not the same as lying. For example our own oath of stating "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing, but the truth".

5:10- Maybe because the Genie is implied to travel through time and has done so much that he brings them up on impulse. And given how magical the world of Aladdin is, the previous master of the Genie, which in the tv series is revealed to be a person called Ajed Al-Gebriac , it was likely a less advanced society, but one governed by more overt supernatural forces than by the time of the current Agrabah monarchy.

I don't agree that Jafar didn't know what to do with his wishes. He clearly wanted to be sultan and while it seemed his second wish was a reaction to Jasmine and the Sultan's defiance, it was the logical next wish. Why limit yourself to 3 wishes when you can become a magical being yourself and do basically whatever you want?
It was only the last wish that was spontaneous. I expect he thought he'd be able to do anything as a sorcerer so hadn't really planned anything for his last wish. Then Aladdin makes him panic about Genie being stronger than him so he makes his third wish without thinking it through.
This makes far more sense than him secretly working for Jasmine for which there is ZERO evidence and not even the slightest hint

Genie is a 4 dimensional being who is living at many times at the same time, which also explains his ability to seemingly poof in and out of experience. This is why he knows so many pop culture references, cause he has lived through that time. When he went on holiday, he might have just went to a different point in time and that’s why he comes back with technology impossible at that era.

I think it's more likely that Genie can time travel rather than the movie taking place in the future.

Remember that time is not nearly as simple in the world of science as we would like. Time is relative. And a being such as the Genie, who would be a Djinn--a type of Islamic daemon--then I think he would be entirely able to see into the present. Besides, the theory about Aladdin taking place in the future is complete bogus when you consider that we witness Classical Greece, Ancient China, and the end of the construction of the Great Sphynx of Giza in "A Whole New World", which was during the Old Kingdom of Egypt. This would also mean that--if the movie is taking place during the Old Kingdom period--the Genie had been trapped since 11388 BCE. That's still sometime during the existence of Homo Sapiens, but that's during our early history as a species. That was not long after the last of our prehistoric cousins--the Red Deer Cave People--had gone extinct.

Pretty much everyone is a villain because so far everyone is talking about bad things doing bad things and also not doing good things so none of these characters are good then

He married a princess. Now I don't know much about ancient Arabian royalty and succession, but it MIGHT make him a prince, depending on how it would work in that time and place. So his wish may have come true.

The genie isn't omnipotent he's limited in power as he was created and placed in a lamp that he himself can't escape.

Jasmine? The smartest character in the movie? Are you kidding me? She nearly gets her hand cut off in her own kingdom, doesn't even know the kingdoms laws.

Fan Theory that does not address source material is written by IDIOTS!!! If fans wanted to grip about how the movie is messed up they should have talked about how in the original story Aladdin has both a lamp and a ring that have genies and has unlimited wishes but because of the messed up Puritan ethic that infects the west moron’s changed the story. Also these idiot fan therapist totally ignore weak writing and how much Disney works pop culture into its movies set in the past. I HATE 90% of fan theory because it is so stupid and you should be ashamed for sharing such garbage. So I can only guess you had a very slow day in the office and were desperate for material

The djinn and Genies are outside of time and can travel forward and backward in that time stream.

these theories are straight up distorting reality, seeing good as bad and bad as good, maybe someday you'll see why those islamic terrorists are doing the world a favor too.

The pop culture references are there because it's a fucking movie for children (and their parents) and Disney wants to make money, not historically accurate entertainment.
