Radically new Corvette features one surprising change

  • General Motors has unveiled the eighth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette. The model is, arguably, the biggest change for the Corvette since the sports car was first introduced in 1953.
The Corvette has changed a lot over the years, but it has always remained a front-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports car. The new 2020 Corvette has its engine behind the seats, a change that radically alters the car's appearance and, certainly, how it will feel to drive.
"In terms of comfort and fun, it still looks and feels like a Corvette, but drives better than any vehicle in Corvette history," said GM president Mark Reuss.

    Nice body,always!
I think their biggest mistake that took away the car,s identity was the round tail lights.

Absolutely! It gives the average pee on, lol , new found pride, even tho we are so proud of what is leaving our doors now. The C8 is another whole new dimension.

Of all the people to reiterate this widely quoted mistruth, the President if GM states the sub$60k base model does 0-60 in less than 3 seconds. As Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter states in the 071819 reveal and other , this requires the $5000 Z51 performance package. Is this guy that disconnected with his own product, was fed this unverified point by others, or knowingly lying?
Believe this is the same corporate culture and standard that resulted in another GM executive spinning his ZR1 Corvette into a wall last year during a globally-televised race event at low speed.

I don't care what they call it, this is NOT a Corvette. Is it beautiful, sleek, sexy, perfectly priced? Absolutely. But not a Vette.

I think Chevy/GM should receive an award of some sort for this car. The company really deserve it. Because, this is quite a remarkable achievement in the auto industry. And it is not an easy one to accomplish.

The only thing that can slow the C8 are dominant women and mangina males. "Men" have passed all the decision making to their masters in every sense of the word. That is why SUVs are king and sports car sales are in the toilet. If more men grew some balls, or better yet went MGTOW, the whole FUN/sports car category could have a resurgence in sales. Don't let your mommy tell you what you can and cannot buy with your own money.

The C8 will be the first US car to have world wide demand since the Model T. In one year, GM can sell 15,000 in Germany, not to mention what it can sell in the rest of Europe and Asia. If a comparable C is 5 seconds slower around the 'Ring than the exotics, exotics' future sales are in trouble. Of course, the exotics can brag they have better quality leather and titanium hood latches to justify their higher prices. The C8 will lift the boats for all US export cars as the C8 showcases a US car that has excellent engineering and good value for the money.

This car AIN’T A CORVETTE. Don’t know what to call it. GM should of “evolved” the C6, which is the best Corvette ever built, like Porsche has done with the 911 since 1965. The 2020 looks like a Pontiac Fiero, Camaro rear clip, with a Mazda nose. No “round tail lights.” No “manual gearbox”, “very cramped cabin.” GM had a proven winner. It was the best “performance car” in the world for the $$$. Not any more. This car will prove to be a “maintenance nightmare” based on GM’s track record for tech. GM just threw away 60 years of “lineage, Racing heritage, and customer base.” Pontiac was their top self performance brand.. They tanked it. Corvette was the last. Now, it’s gone too. What a disaster in Corporate leadership at GM. Why don’t they “see” that they are trying to compete with car companies who only built one or two “performance exotics” models in the whole line. Totally out of their “field.”

Big miss with this body. Decoupled the car from 50 years of Corvette lineage starting with the C2. So very disappointing. Excuses to look like an NSX or F360? The F12 is front engine.....why did Chevy need to ruin the heritage of the long hooded Vette. Terrible. My money will go elsewhere.

They damage the Corvette design with this mid range engine but you have to make compromises and this is a good one for the price. I’m not saying is looking bad but is not Corvette anymore. Looks more like a GTA car for me. The interior is amazing btw! They should rename it Coquette😂
