Pocahontas and Mulan, 90s Princesses, never had to be rescued. Nor did Belle or Jasmine really.
But they all had animal sidekicks and could sing. Those are the biggest cliches.

  • Rebecca Delaney

Brave was not historically accurate. Merida would have had power since she is a princess. There would have no fight between mother and daughter. The daughter alone decides who she can date. Tiana had one historically inaccurate thing it. Tiana would not have needed to marry her prince. Tiana would not have been able to open her restaurant if she's not a princess already. Tiana would not have any power if she's not a princess. Tiana being a princess means she'd get respect from everyone.

Well, I'm starting to not mind the damsel cliche either because well...Let's face it, I'm a woman and I'm not a big strong warrior. I'm just saying, believing a woman can easily fight or be some warrior without say training or body build up, is just asking for them to hurt themselves. Trust me, I was a teen that believed this because teens can be idiots...Learned it the hard way.
Girls can be strong and men can even be the one distress, it's interesting but we also shouldn't fault a woman for wanting to be more gentle and a man for masculinity and we should also note that it's okay for those of both genders to be either the one that needs saved or the one that can be strong.

They are too quick to trust in infant 2 ( like senior pre schools) don't accept stuff from people like apples snow white
Rebellious that what make it fun
    Beauty yes
True love I thought moana and Maui were gonna get married
Animal sidekick they love animal like me
Yes they are the definition of. ", love and first sight"
Sing and dance that why I know I could never be a Disney person I can't sing okay I can just depends on the tune

Why is rescued by someone else #1? Most people -men and women - need rescuing at some point if they are in a movie involving a lot of danger. But the only four Disney women who were truly passive characters and complete damsels were Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora. Maybe Jane from Tarzan as well. But in terms of active, brave and heroic Disney women we've got Mulan, Pocahontas, Moana, Belle, Esmeralda, Rapunzel, Anna, Tiana, Merida, Ariel, Nala, Miss Bianca, Princess Elionwy, The three fairies from Sleeping Beauty, Jesse, Mrs. Incredible, Giselle and Judy Hopps.

Ugh. I hate to sound like a broken record, but MsMojo deserves to be enlightened, so here goes. The whole "doesn't take long to fall in love" thing is not an attempt (either intentional or unintentional) to impart a bad message. It's being historically accurate. In the 19th century and earlier (when most of the Disney Princess stories are set), people didn't live as long and had to marry quickly before they got too old and disease-ridden to conceive children. If all people in the time these stories are set tried to find love the way we do now, mankind would be extinct before 1500. If anything, the romances these Princesses are in are more love-based than most in the time the stories were set because the Princess and her lover decided to marry instead of their parents.

The reason the disney princesses have dead parents is because Walt Disney lost his own mother to gas poisoning. Thus, he made it so none of the disney characters had a mother

    • ginger psycho

In the early 1940s, Walt Disney bought a home for his parents. “He had the studio guys come over and fix the furnace, but when his mom and dad moved in, the furnace leaked and his mother died,” Hahn said. “The housekeeper came in the next morning and pulled his mother and father out on the front lawn.

    • 1992disney
      1992disney 10 months ago

Social Justice Warrior! People who think they know better than everybody does, but they actually don't! They're so whiny and demanding because they always crave for attention! They're also easily offended over things that aren't really hurting or negatively affecting our world such as race, gender, sexuality, etc. They always have to ruin everything that we love from movies to tv shows and video games, such as inserting unwanted and unnecessary politics and derailing fan-favorite franchises like Star Wars with their selfish agendas get shoved in. They can never accept anything and move on with their lives. Instead, they waste their own time complaining just about everything that is wrong in our world! So what I'm saying is that we don't need gay characters and themes in Disney movies in order for them to be successful and popular! Being progressive is bad! No one wants entertainment to be progressive! Entertainment is entertainment! Not to be used for social justice propaganda! You just need to deal with it!

Really?! You choose CINDERELLA to show the dead mother thing?! Her FATHER dies just two seconds after you end the scene.
However, change this to "Fairy tale Princess" cliches. Seriously. Have you NEVER read the stories these are based on? Disney is actually just keeping true to the stories and the characters. Snow White, Rapunzel, Cinderella, The Frog Prince, Sleeping Beauty, etc. It happens in the original stories. Don't blame Disney for it. They're making adaptions, not parodies.

My favorite princesses are Mulan, Pocahontas and Merida.
Mulan royal by action and virtue, not by blood or marriage.
Pocahontas was not a damsel in distress.
Merida did not need a love interest to show how "BRAVE" and strong she truly is.
