They had such smooth skin (e.g., the woman at 5:10). I wonder what they used on their faces back then to keep their skin so smooth. BTW, the woman at 6:05 looks like Princess Caroline.

If women followed this, maybe we'd actually be able to recognize them with out makeup! xD Teenagers wouldn't look like they're 30 something. And girls in their 20s-30s wouldn't look like they're trying to hide their the the world's biggest secret, THEIR NATURAL FACE

You can see the diiference in the heaviness of makeup as the years progressed. Big difference from older videos. All these models' makeup were as thick and "made up" as Cleopatra's makeup!

Ha... these makeup artists should have took tips from Marilyn Monroe's makeup artist. She always looked flawless compared to these women. Lol. (Marilyn wore 3 or more layers of lipstick, blotting each time for fuller looking lips)- Ive tried this technique and it works. I understand that regular women usually don't do full glam but her artist was a genius for the time period.

I find it so interesting that their idea of makeup is practically the opposite from now.. while back there the goal was to enhance the women's beauty and creating a whole 'wow what a beautiful girl' package using makeup simply as a tool, nowadays makeup is a form of art itself. Still I think this approach to makeup should still be teached for people (like me) who want to look prettier but suck at makeup... But forget the blue and green eyeshadow tho

While I don't quite dig that makeup was more restricted back then, I will say that I love how it was used as apart of your daily routine to make you look composed, healthy, and beautiful. The red lipstick, a little something for the eyes, and light everything else, these women all turned out looking effortlessly pretty and extremely classy. Great tutorial!

I love reading the critiquing comments, you people pretend you got your shit together with make up today, but look at the women of those days, they are so breath takingly gorgeous they don't walk around looking like aliens or plastic, using a contour pallet and liquid metallic looking highlighters and shit... come on... and as far as a man guiding these women have any of you ladies asked your men or just a man in general what he thinks of your make up routine and look? listen to men and most of them talk about way too much make up on women, I have a suggestion to you haters, take some pictures of women such as ava gardener, Liz taylor, Judy garland from the 40s and 50s and show them to your men next to pictures of kim, kylie, or any modern woman and make up routine and ask them who looks prettier. then let that sink in...

I do enjoy that makeup today can be used to express creativity but I do enjoy that the make up of the 50's did not force people to look a certain way. They followed their natural lines instead of making it all the same eyebrow shape or lip shape. I think there is something to be said when a person notices first that the being is beautiful before noticing she has cosmetics on.
