Pixar is always original. They never re-hash old movies for any reason. When they make sequels or prequels, they're made to expand on the already wonderful stories! They don't take the same story, tweak it a little, and push it out in a new format like Disney has been doing for the past few years now. Disney might as well be milking their old classics dry. They're great movies, but trying to do them again forces them to change little things and even modernise it a bit with newer actors.
People sometimes ask me why I like Pixar more when it's a side company. Well, it's because their movies are more realistic in the sense that they cover relatable situations and can be suitable for any age. The amount of research that goes into them is fantastic!
My personal favourite from Pixar? It has to be the Cars movies. The first one came out when I was 4, and I collected the die cast figures for ages. My Dad opened my eyes to how many real life references are actually in the movies, how the cars are all based on real car makes and models, how they used the voices of certain racing icons, and how little things here and there are based on real car related events, parts, etc. I became somewhat attached to the movies with their environments, events, and, of course, brilliant soundtracks.
I'm probably the only one who thinks positively of Cars 2. Why? Because I was just excited that another one was coming! I know the story veered off in a strange direction, but it still had all those great things you find in a Pixar movie and made for an enjoyable video game!
In 2012, my childhood best friend said there was supposedly an Incredibles 2 and Cars 3 coming out. I was honestly doubtful, but thanked her for being right when it happened! My heart stopped when I discovered the trailers for those movies, which now sit among my grand collection of DVDs.
I've seen every Pixar movie, and plan to see every other one that comes out throughout my life! =^-^=

I actually like how Pixar makes morally ambiguous characters. I don't think that it's a good idea
to make all your characters flawless and perfect, I believe that it's better to make flawed and
imperfect characters with both strengths and weaknesses. It makes the characters feel more
realistic, and it teaches kids that they don't have to be perfect. It doesn't make them harder to love, it just makes me love them even more!

I don't see why people dislike the obvious villains that Disney does. I always took that as that they were so confident in who they where that they decided to not hide it and because of their blatency that it really challenged the heroes like "what are you going to do?" because they are so good - would they have what it takes to get rid of someone so evil?
And what is with the thing that Disney's heroes never make a bad choice or aren't flawed? Anyone remember Pinocchio ignoring Jiminy - his conscious and ran away and went drinking, gambling and smoking which resulted in him almost being sold off?
Kuzco, selfish and uncaring. The dude was gonna destroy an entire villages lively hood so he could build a summer getaway for himself!

  • Erin McKeown
    Erin McKeown 4 months ago

Pixar characters are easy to fall in love with because they are filled with so much struggle. There are no real good or real evil characters, just average people with flaws. That makes them more relatable and realistic, as most people are good with some flaws, or bad with reasons like mental instability, bad relationships, etc, with a gray area where good characters can be turned bad, like Woody from Toy Story was for the second quarter of the movie due to jealousy, and bad characters can turn good.

Plus, Pixar is better at doing twist villains than Disney. They time the twist at just the right time, whereas Disney is usually doing their twist villains near the end of the film (with the exception of Stromboli).

  • Pickering144
    Pickering144 4 months ago +1

I must say the insight is interesting but these aren't all accurate. When they talk about "Disney" films as opposed to Pixar they're mostly talking about the princess-type ones. No mention of live action Disney movies (I mean ones that aren't remakes of animated ones) or even some of the less conventional non-Pixar animated ones. How about Zootopia, for example? That has an expansive world, morally complex characters, a more mature theme, a less fantastical setting, and no characters singing unless they're actually supposed to be performing a song.

In Coco a number of characters do sing, in the LIVE Action reboot of Beauty and the Beast it fills in a number of issues that the animated version of the film with the same name where we don't know what happen to Belle's mother and how the Beast looked like before his change into what we see him instead of just glass paintings we got to see the prince as a human and the Enchantress and not a fly in to said glass, though Aladdin Live Action might touch on a few more things then what the other two Aladdin animate movies and cartoon series
