Not quite as satisfying as a sandblaster but the finished product was just as good.

Mechanical restoration: OK-ish ... but I've seen better.
Electrical restoration: Sub-standard ... you need to learn more about electrical safety.

    • Olwen Morgan
      Olwen Morgan Hour ago

@ProtosR For starters, the switch and cable strain relief do not meet modern safety standards. Also, AFAI could see, you did not test the capacitor for safety. Further, there is no plate covering all the bottom of the grinder to protect the electrical parts from ingress of contaminants. Finally, you performed no test to demonstrate that no part of the metal casing became live when mains voltage was applied upon switching on.

Great work! Loved the attention to detail! Always push the bearings, never hammer them. You can easily destroy the bearings (and their performance) by whacking them with a hammer - just cool down the bearing (if not inserted to an axle) and it should slide in easily.

Electrolysis using baking soda in water, and a low current from a battery charger. You need "sacrificial metal" of the same type, which gets used up in the process.

nice resto, you incorporated some interesting techniques to say the least, but turned out fantastic...however, i just bought a brand new 6" dual grinder the other day on sale for 20 bucks American, (made in Japan) 😉

нормально,только вместо электролиза проще и быстрее пескоструйным аппаратом все почистить.
