I think the spoon handle is squared out to make it strong. I see the person below says the spoon is designed to attach to the machine that mixes the McFlurry, so that is probably the real answer.

If you actually eat McDonald's in Canada, you will know the true taste of sadness and regret.
Junk food is at least supposed to be a guilty pleasure, but Canadian McD food is horrid...and after you eat it, you feel strange.

@MyAssGrabsHairInTheSHOWER US portion sizes are substantially bigger... For example Australian large fries and Coke is smaller than the US medium. Burgers are bigger too.

@MyAssGrabsHairInTheSHOWER but also in comparison to things in the car... I'm sure that the portion sizes are still huge compared to other countries... I'm gonna go Google it

They use the spoon to mix your McFlurry so it’s kind a sanitary in a way where as instead of them having to clean or change a spoon out they just stick one in there and you have it

If anyone ever wants any kind of mcflurry, all you have to do is mix whatever you want into vanilla ice cream. That's all they do.

Funny, the running joke has been that McDs doesn't MAKE McFlurries! They have machines that go unused, they don't have the manpower to spend making a McFlurry, so they always say the machines are broken.

09:15 so that's why most of the comments are about the spoon for the McFlurry...I used to wonder about that when I first had a McFlurry. I didn't actually question much about...but I was fascinated by the design of the spoon... and it was something that kids about also get fascinated by... a plastic hollow spoon with square opening and small attachment near the top. Then awhile back I read why the spoon was designed like that and it just made sense. I still like McFlurry and my favorite flavor will always be the M&Ms McFlurry :-)
