    This sport is so fascinating. I tried taking one of the poles in high school they had left out and i could hardly get off the ground. Insane athleticism required.

      So much of it is form though I was the same way but after lots of practice I finally got 7 feet which by pole vaulting standards is nothing but I’m finally getting somewhere and it’s not from strength

    Just the sheer physical mechanics that are involved in pole vaulting absolutely blow my mind. Love how he was able to keep his wits about him enough to catch the pole at the end, points for style!

      A lot of pole vaulters are gymnasts who had injuries, failed, were too tall or otherwise wanted to switch sports because the musculature and body control required to be good is quite similar between the two sports

    It takes skills to do that and he made it look super easy. I tried it once and got a big scratch on my stomach. That was the end of my pole value career.

    Holy crap. My highest was 7’6 last year, pole vault is starting again and I’ll hopefully get higher considering I weigh a bit less and have more control. Although I am still in middle school so I have to practice a bit. But how tf he do that so cleanly.

    The catch was the part with the least effort and so was dash... It was the one footed leap and the spring coil arm release from mid air that had all the energy.

    Yeow! Slow motion gives it such much more credit because you can see all the skills and talent needed.Watching that in slo-mo has you sitting on the edge of the seat the entire time holding your breath. And, when it over there's a sigh of relief, "Whew!"

    Excellent clydaxel routine with added preliminary caul technique. Adding cretoctious grip most likely aided the transition. With a few more seasons will definitely be a contender. Just needs to work on his flail and carry routine and all set. Good job!
    Joking of course, I don't know anything about the pole vault but he sure looks like he knows what he is doing. Amazing skill!

    But this is not so uncommon, it happens rather often. I have seen it before. It all depends on how slow the pole falls down. It all depends on chance. If it stands up for awhile then it is not hard to catch it after you have landed.
