    The Teddy Ruxpin talking doll, it came with cassettes for him to talk and tell the story. The mouth mechanism was pretty loud when it moved, and the selected story cassettes wouldn't work in a normal cassette player. How do I know, I had one back in the day. Tried the cassette in my tape deck, didn't work and I got in trouble one night from my mother telling me to go to sleep instead of using it. Yeah, I couldn't sleep, that's why I was using it

    Ummmm the original Game Boy is worth a fortune?!
    You can buy them on eBay for sub $50.
    Even by his own number "For a factory sealed original Game Boy today, can run you upwards of $500" it's not exactly a fortune.

    Most valuable collection Items I've ever owned, #12 1963 Spiderman and 1911 George Vezina Hockey Card in Mint condition. The Card was worth over $20,000 when it was stolen from me. Today that Card is Worth up to $75,000, I bought the Card for $100; ironic that the guy I bought it from came to my house while I was out and stole the card. About a month later he came to my house again, I told him to Fuck Off; he threw a $100 bill at me. I said "I want the Card". He said he couldn't, seems he took the card from his fathers safe; and his father was a biker of the Outlaws. He thought the card was worthless, his father knew better. So I let it slide, at least I owned the most valuable hockey card of all times for a little while.

    Beanie Babied still sell and there are still some being remade (although this doesn’t necessarily harm the value of the originals and other early remakes). The line’s have even expanded a bit. What really determines their value is condition and the time they were made/released as a remake could actually be worth more than a original (like if it were released during some major event as a promotion or something).

    I hate saying it, but there had been and there still are childhood collectibles that would actually knock a number of these top 20 (if not all of them) off the list. 1st example; FF7 for the PS1

    • ShallowEclipse
      ShallowEclipse 4 months ago

      Sry thing automatically submitted the message before I was finished. Anyway back to what I was saying;
      1st example: FF7 for the PS1. I remember way back there was a huge craze over this game and the FF series in general because of the FF7 film that was due to release. Many people sold even the FF7 game in parts on eBay with each disk, case, and booklet going as high as $700 EACH! Made me angry; especially considering that amongst these were copies of the Black Lable with the misspelled Masterpiece word on the back of the cover art. There is also a Japanese exclusive bundle (I think it was Japanese exclusive; I forgot..) which included not just the game (and I think a strategy guide), but a rare VHS tape, a figure or two, and other extras. If you were able to find the complete bundle and in good shape; that could be worth quite a bit. I don’t know about right now, but I have seen Gobots Puzzler sell for a few thousand before in near complete (as in just the six figures that form Puzzler and no box or instructions) and near mint condition. There are also various NES games that were released by unlicensed developers prior to Nintendo enforcing a licensing agreement. These NES games were often homebrewed games that you might have even seen a neighbor, with the tools to make games, haul off to a nearby store to sell. There aren’t many of these left and they can run you a fortune if you were lucky enough to get your hands on even just one of these! Of course; you might have to check several yard sells, flea market type places, or even an old junk yard just to find one without spending a fortune yourself. There’s also the old Doll’s that somebody like your mother or grandmother or great grandmother might have collected and played with. These dolls use to run very high, still sorta do, but they are so overlooked nowadays that it’s become difficult to find collectors and even harder to find a good seller (if not selling it yourself) who won’t scam or cheat you out of their value. You might even see a major b***h at an auction telling inexperienced buyers what is valuable and what isn’t valuable just so they can get the best deal possible on the most valuable of items (be careful confronting these people because some auctioneers are also so trashy that they’ll side with these lowlife thieving scoundrels even when you try speaking to them or a law enforcer present at the auction). There was this one time that I came across an elderly woman who was demeaning my own grandmother’s dolls she had taken to the auction to sell and the b***h just would not keep her hands to herself and was telling everyone who came by how worthless they were and the auctioneer threatened to throw US out if we didn’t leave her alone! And of course you can’t really reach out for help from places like the Better Business Bureau or something more localized for help as they aren’t always and at times, NEVER, reliable. There are even times that reaching out for help just makes things worse as proven time and time again.

      Sorry for the long post plus rant..

    Man i do miss toys r us times square nyc it was a great job and i had access to all the collectibles before the store even opened. We would always stash some of the hard to get stuff to keep them away from the ebay hounds and whip them out when a kid asked for it. Had a nice collection of my own plus the mix ups where i got lucky. I had a whole case of silver r2d2's c3po's and Darth Vader's all a penny each. Too bad she died due to amazon.
