Chernobyl 2019 -- is One of the most gripping miniseries for a real-life industrial disaster
Unbelievable production quality, brilliant cast, and direction. It's the whole 9 yards of thought-provoking and riveting experience

That constant 'woooaammm' in this makes me feel dirty and irradiated like I'm stood near the reactor core.
I hope the success of this miniseries leads them to do other man made distater such as hiroshima or fukushima.

Love Death & Robots, thanks so much for posting this; it will tide me over until I can order the score from iTunes/Deutsche Grammaphon. Kudos, Hildur Guðnadóttir: your beautiful, masterfully haunting soundtrack made a hard-hitting series that much more entrancing! (===> My joy would be complete if I could locate a piece not included on the soundtrack -- namely, the sad, gorgeous, totally unforgettable folk song with the "Chornobol-ska" refrain that plays as the young liquidator completes his work toward the end of episode 4. Can anyone identify it?)

So far it is the most accurate tv series about soviet/slavic culture, without any pc crap, like: whining about why no black people/transgenders in USSR 1980's-1990's. Aside of music, the best part of the tv series is the accurate soviet lifestyle: clocks, pictures, kettles, toys, carpets, chairs. so many little details, impressive.
even groundbreaking belarusian female scientist, who throws iodine (red) pills at everyone seems authentic.
HOWEVER, it has been told way to many times, but since aug 2008 you cannot make a content about Chernobyl without ru-clip.com/video/eBhh23-paLU/video.html

Has anyone seen Full Metal Jacket? When they are going to the lady sniper, trying to see where she is (they haven’t seen her but I don’t know how I have to say this), you here a sound (in Full Metal Jacket), it’s exactly the same sound that you hear in the beginning. It starts at the beginning of the first song (in Chernobyl soundtrack)

I LOVE the music. Recorded inside a Soviet Nuclear Reactor (for inspiration?). Cool. The effect, chilling, metallic, coldly realistic, futuristic, ominous, like "Arrival", "I, Robot" or "Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" Bold, powerful, ominous...Pulls you into the darkness of Chernobyl's history. Stacey Piper Johann Johansson, an Icelandic composer, was one of my favorites. His scores to Sicario and Arrival still give me chills. When he died, Hildur Gudnadottir finished his score to Sicario: Day of the Soldado. 😊

Yeah the first song is called "the door" and from what i can tell from interviews, it's based on an actual door from the (currently being decommissioned) powerplant where they shot the series.

This series is as close to a masterpiece as I've seen for a long time. The soundtrack is so evocative, dark, unsettling. I was especially moved by the piece '12 Hours Before' which accompanied the scenes of the doomed city of Pripyat and its population. A sense of moving melancholy and dread is created by this extraordinary piece of music.
