How would the Street Glide Special handle the “THREE TWISTED SISTERS”?
You mentioned it is nimble, but how does this bike handle on twisties?

That's literally the only thing I dont like about my new '19 road king special... no LED head light. That and the little chrome pieces on all of the specials they could have easily blacked out like the opening lever on the bags or the chrome on the gauge and fuel cap on the road king model

Its heavier at slow speed but you get used to it very quickly. At speed it's not bad at all.

What is your thoughts on the stock rear suspension. If you bought that same street glide would you change the stock rear suspension. Because I saw a video of Matt Laidlaw testing out the Fox and Legend rear suspension on his bike and a co-workers bike. Both were street glides. They are around $800 to $900 and he said the stock suspension was good but that he wouldn't back to stock after riding on both the Fox and the Legend suspension. What are your thoughts on that subject.

    • Bike N' Bird
Bike N' Bird  8 months ago

I'd have to get some ride time with an upgrade before I could comment. If I were to buy a special though I would get something a little taller since they're an inch lower I believe. But stock is fine for what they're meant to do

Ouch, 27k+ what is Harley doing with this pricing? Sure I love my Harley's but 27k it hurts... I may end up getting the new 2019 Indian Chieftain instead... I own the 2017 Road Glide Special 19.5k out the door and the infotainment system sucks, super slow, etc. Oh well, next!

I'm not sure if it's the camera sound or what exactly, but it seems really quite. When I finally get the street glide I want I hope they sell it it denim black with the new 114 and a little louder pipe.

  • twoweeled soto
twoweeled soto 8 months ago +1

$27,000!!!!!! LOL! Harley seems to be having enough problems competing with the new V twins around, not to mention other very well known large touring bikes. I doubt the $27,000 price tag will help that, but good luck!!

The EITMS will shut down the rear cylinder AT IDLE ONLY. You may have suggested otherwise. It stands for Engine Idle Temperature Management System

    • TheMadShredder
      TheMadShredder 5 months ago

Does the sound different idling on one cylinder?

    • Scott Pioso
      Scott Pioso 8 months ago

Yes of course, you and I know this, however, there are some people that might say, "whoa??? The rear cylinder gets shut down????" I only thought that you might want to clarify what EITMS stands for. Engine Idle Temperature Management System. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm only saying this because there might be some people that might ask that question. I have it on on my bike and it runs a little rougher when the system is activated but it turns off as soon as you roll on the throttle or move faster than 5 MPH I believe. I can tell you how to turn it on or off if you're interested. However, it was a great review. I have a 17 Street Glide and I am not happy about the Infotainment System. It's difficult to navigate. But I love the bike and I love riding. Have a great weekend.!

    • Bike N' Bird
Bike N' Bird  8 months ago

How did I suggest otherwise? Obviously its not going to shut down the rear cylinder at speed...

Thanks for the great review. I ride both the RG and the SG and I can’t tell the difference regarding the relative wind factor but I prefer the look and the instrument placement of the SG over the Shark nose RG. To me the RG is like driving a ship with the bow way out in front and in certain lighting the instrument panel washes out even in the HI contrast setting.

I understand your from a warmer area and dont have to worry so much about "cold weather" but why would you raise your bars up and put your hands out of the protection from the fairing which is designed to keep the air off you

    • Justin Porter
Justin Porter 8 months ago +2

The barsare much more comfortable being a little higher... I'm only 5'7" and always felt like i was reaching to much on the stockbars.. I put 10"apes on that barely peek above the fairing but the comfort is incredible

Road across South Dakota to Sturgis Aug, 6, saw people riding BMWs, riding Hondas, Riding Suzukis, riding Yamahas, even a few Ducatis and KTMs made me wonder, do these Harley things come standard with a trailer to tow them behind your pickup or motorhome or do you buy that separate?

    • Flying Dog

I've never understood the "tow the bike there" mentality. Some people tow the bike within a few miles of Sturgis, and unload the bikes and ride them in. LOL!! I wonder if they throw some dirt on themselves too?

    • Angry Motor Man
Angry Motor Man 8 months ago

You also get different wheels that are blacked out with the engine and exhaust. They are called Talon Wheels which I think looks better than the regular streetglide and Road Glide Wheels.

    • sirpunishm623
      sirpunishm623 9 months ago

      Stretched saddlebags. Blacked out everything.
Security , ABS and 6.5 GTS versus black and white screen , and 6.5 vs 5.25 speakers.
And the rear wheel is 18 inches on the specials versus 16 inch rear wheel on standard glides.

A lot of the things you dislike on this model are improved in the Ultra Limited. Those are the reasons I chose the Ultra Limited over the Street Glide. Just get the detachable tour pack and it has pretty much same look.

    • gghostrrider
      gghostrrider 8 months ago +1

Justin Porter Better suspension, twin cooled:headsets bag liners, heated grips lowers, tourpack etc

    • DiG LiFE
DiG LiFE 8 months ago +2

Justin Porter I probably shouldn’t say “improved”. I don’t mean any disrespect by that. What I meant is some of the things BnB touched on as either upgrades he’d do or issues he encountered are addressed on Ultra.
      1) Headlights- Ultra has Daymaker headlight and running lamps.
      2) Passenger Backrest- Ultra not only has backrest it has armrest and Tour Pack.
      3) Air hitting legs- Ultra has Twin Cooling with Fans blocking wind at your legs with option to open vents and allow air to flow.
Other options I found for me that I preferred over Street Glide (again, my own personal preference) was heated grips, stock air deflectors on batwing and bar mounted mirrors.
Again, just my opinion and reasons specific to me as to why I chose the Ultra Limited.

    • Justin Porter

What things from the street glide are improvedon the ultra??
