    LED technology is constantly progressing. The real trick of making an LED bulb that works in an incandescent bulb headlight housing is to imitate the incandescent bulb as closely as possible. Trouble is, the LED technology requires heat sinking, so you can't create an array of LED's to perfectly simulate a halogen filament. At least at this point in time. Maybe in another 5 or 10 years it will be possible, but by then many of us will be driving different cars, many having converted to electric vehicles. The upshot? Probably doesn't make sense to try upgrading.

    Why don't you mention at all (or sell in your shop) the original manufacturers of the chips, own products, like Osram or Phillips f.ex. - they make the H4 etc. that most of the other brands copy with different results, and prices - are they not any good(for buisness) ?

    • Happy Fox
      Happy Fox 2 days ago

      @Headlight Revolution You could say that. But the real truth is yes and no - you don't sell Phillips or Osram LED headlights (since that's what I meant, it's kind of the essence of the video too)... just HID and halogen. When it comes to LED I could find maybe 1 DRL or backlight/blinker bulb in each group. That's all there is in LED. None of the LED headlight designs that all the others are more or less based on. From HELLA (that through the ages has produced most of the lamps/reflectors on cars in Europe and the rest of the world, they're still behind much of the original and "stolen" R&D and design of LED headlights and extra lights.) - nothing at all, not even ancient halogene or HID lamps - you just have a couple of regulators... I was just curious as to why - you must have your reasons - is it performance/economy/just plain patriotism ? - when these are the actual "originals" in many cases, I would like to have seen a comparison to see how they stand up against better or worse reproductions.

    I hate led lights. It does not give proper brightness on the highway and the throw is very limited. Now a days cars come with led lights which cannot be upgraded or changed. The only way to get more light is to have extra auxiliary lights. When I am driving with my led lights on and when any car is coming towards me I am not able to see the road properly it is very dull... Hallogen lights are way better.

    Lesson from this video:. Stay away from Dodge! I've got modern LED bulbs in several cars and they all work great! They were installed correctly, according to the manufacturer directions, so they project great and don't blind incoming drivers. I bought them direct from China via AliExpress so I did not pay much. Make sure you get the latest style and you should be good to go;

      That's generally the case - When installed and aimed properly LEDs shouldn't give you (or other drivers) any issues! Although we usually acquiring your bulbs from other sources.

    Recommends GTR brand and their “name” brand on their page, but also recommends “Vision X”
    Which is one of the worst rated bulbs, and the ones you guys have listed for 100+$ looks like LASFIT’s, which go for 40$ online.
    And they have their own dedicated page on the web, and an eBay page.
    Seems to me like these people are rip offs.

    Very interesting video, i was not expecting to watch the whole thing :p Here are my 2 cents according to my experience :
    1) true, cheap led bulbs dont last long.
    2) cooling fans are not reliable, even on summer car.
    3) i thought that the clear bubble on the led chips was helping to spread the light more evenly, because its 2 sided bulbs (halogen = real 360°).
    4) any electronic thing you get in your car, like a bluetooth reciever or cheaper led bulbs (like these with lots of small leds for flashers or backup), the little welds all arround it for all components / leds will eventually crack because of the vibrations. The solution i found: jam it all minutely with epoxy glue.
    5) The ballasts / controllers (this external small box): whatever they claim, its generally not properly sealed, water will get in after a while = shortcut or failure. My solution: open it, fill the inside and minutely seal the box with hot temp resistant caulking.
    Its a pain, but i had good results by doing this after experienced lots of failures / lack of reliablility. Thats how it works in this world: they do everything possible to make you think you get good stuff, but the quality is always lower then we imagine.
